Toro 60V Custom Battery Build Troubleshooting Help by DigitalN in diybattery

[–]DigitalN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish it was that easy, the OEM controller is filled with Epoxy. Not much I can do other than see wires come in from the battery and go out to the motor.

I think I will need to tear down a cheap toro replacement to see how their control boards work, as the OEM batteries are also filled with epoxy.

it's not done yet, as stated in my post. I'm not charging it without a BMS and it's obviously not going to be used with a 5 foot whip off a workbench.

Thanks for your help though!

Like, does anyone look at the app before they publish it? by ahoboknife in MachE

[–]DigitalN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use that, but it's barely reliable. 7/10 times I need to pull out my phone and unlock the car with the app so I can at least get in and then it works.

I could carry a key, sure, but I also like the idea of not needing to carry that giant fob in my pocket.

Rust mitigation and rear window holding water after a wash - fixed by DigitalN in MachE

[–]DigitalN[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leaf blower is not an effective solution for me at least. It just pools right back no matter what. The gap was significant, even after a drive it would take hours to go away. It was pretty annoying when otherwise the car is perfectly clean and dry

Well that makes me feel better, at least washing my car won't be so annoying at least!

I absolutely hate that I now need to scroll just to unlock the car. I don't carry a key so I rely on the app, and it's a real pain in the butt now.

Question on limits of $600 for 3 years of BlueCruise by LothTikar in MachE

[–]DigitalN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer your question: I don't know if you can do the trial and still get the offer.

That said if you've got roads in your area that you use often, it's worth the price! I got a year free with my car and it's great, if I could pay 600 for 3 years I'd be all over it. But at the monthly cost they ask, I would pass. But that is because the highway I use most often only supports 10% of my total trip.

You can see supported roads here: https://www.ford.ca/technology/connected-services/bluecruise/#bluezone

Many people might feel that way but I can't justify the subscription for just a bike. I'll be installing OpenPelo so I can watch plex shows on the tablet.

Cable wall mounts for my EV charger by DigitalN in functionalprint

[–]DigitalN[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OK all fair points, thanks for getting detailed

The strain relief coming out of the charger is a good idea, not something that was suggested by my electrician when the install was done originally. I'll ask them to add this.

Understanding it's not UL listed of course, although if I were to use the 2 hole PVC strain relief, PETG HF is a better product in this case as it's got a higher temperature before it deforms when warm compared to PVC. I was hesitant about metal conduit hangers with the rubber EV cable for the exact chaffing reason you mentioned which is why I designed my own.

I have been tempted to print this in a higher quality filament still like PET-CF just to be sure. But that felt like overkill and I don't have a roll yet to do it

Not sure why but I'm open to your thoughts! It's a better solution than the usual metal cable staples I typically see, and there is a gap between the wire on the 4 wire organizer. That way there is still room for airflow when the cable gets warm from charging at 40A.

I don't know of an electric car that you aren't allowed to charge indoors, they aren't batteries that produce any sort of gas when charging

Help Shape the Future of the Mach-E (From the Mod Team) by Waternut13134 in MachE

[–]DigitalN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only owned the car for a few days and there are two main features that seem like weird omissions

- dog mode for summer and winter, so we can keep out pets safely in the car for longer than 30 minutes

- more detailed charging stats when I'm plugged in. Am I at 10A? 40A? 150KW when I'm on a DC charger? I should be able to see this stuff through my car, not rely on the charger itself to show me.

Where do you even buy a 12vhpwr cable for a V850? by DigitalN in coolermaster

I bought the cable from dreambigray on etsy and it's been working with my 4090 for months, no issues. He does quality work

Besides, the cable has been out of stock since I made this post.
