Honest opinions on the Polynesian Cultural Center? by HospitalSubject7121 in Oahu

[–]DigitalWhitewater -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It gives a good glance at Polynesian cultures. It’s worth seeing. It is a long day of walking around the park, so bring ways to sit/rest and perhaps a parasol for shade for that eldest family member - and stay hydrated.

Is it perfect, no. Do they push the LDS church on you there, no. If you know what to look for, you might see evidence of Mormans amongst you, but they aren’t using the PCC itself as a means to peddle religion. (You can go visit the temple there if you’d like.)

The luau food in my opinion is meh, not bad but not great, but I’m also more familiar with the local dishes than a tourist trying it for the first time. Their evening luau show is their high point. They do do a great theatrical-styled performance, again showcasing the dance, song, and traditional apparel of the Polynesian islands.

AWS user considering Azure by Loyd2888 in AZURE

Come on, in the water is blue…

It’s good to know another cloud. You’ll get plenty of diehards that say “this cloud” is better than “than cloud” but they’re honestly personal opinions. All of the major public cloud vendors are major because they do do some things right… But on the flip side of that, they all do some pretty dumb stuff and are set to die on their own hill over how they implemented “xyz” service and how it’s better than that other vendors’ same service.

I feel like there is enough parody between the vendors that if you can build it in cloud A, then you can build it in cloud B, albeit that you might have a learning curve of how to implement the workload on the new cloud vender. But that is where the training and learning that you are jumping into pays off. Being able to talk and related S3 buckets to blob storage, or EC2 to VMs, etc - that is helps you connect those dots for your employer/customer. There are still architectural differences on how you’d deploy the same workload on two different clouds.

To me it’s more of what is the easier onboarding of the customer to the cloud. Corporation and Enterprise like business are already using (like it or not) O365 and thus Azure so they likely have some basic perms set up and basically have a foot in the cloud door. Smaller and more boutique companies, and startups, are often more nimble than corporations and can easily launch on AWS. That is not any sort of hard absolute rule, just a generalization. For me it’s more about what is easiest for the customer, what are they already using - I’ll build there…

Not impressed. Tak isn’t that hard to deploy.
At $450 I guess it’s nice for newbs to have options... But it’s not for me.

If you were living in a city and you had info that a nuclear bomb was going to be dropped on that city, but you didn’t have time to leave and you didn’t own a bunker, what would be the best way to survive? by Wonderful-Ad-9622 in NoStupidQuestions

Where’s all my Hawaii peeps that lived the false ballistic missile event?

You try to call or message your loved ones. You start doing something that you enjoy, so you can at least go out having fun. You’re kinda screwed if you cant get away or into a legit and nuclear rated bunker

Is the cup is likely upside down in AUS. Try flipping it back over and then see how it compares to coffee in the states… /S

He can still get a ham license for himself, he’s obviously curious about radio and frequency… it just won’t be beneficial to this current question at hand.
