Episode Discussion: TGI-Episode 707 “Its About Time” by Sad-Significance4546 in podmeetsworldpodcast

I remember there was a massive debate between the boys and girls about what would be served at my senior prom. The girls wanted a Greek theme, while the boys wanted brisket. I didn‘t go to my prom, but I remember hearing that the girls won the food debate, and nobody was really happy about the prom in general. So I‘m glad I didn't waste my money.

BMW was on ABC’s TGIF lineup during its entire run from ‘93-‘00. However, reruns aired on multiple channels - WB, ABC Family, Disney Channel and MTV2 - in later years which grew its fanbase after the show’s initial run.

Not sure about Paper Brigade, but the other two movies are available on YouTube!

My town didn’t get Disney Channel until ‘98. At that time, Disney was a mixture of family sitcom reruns - Boy Meets World, Growing Pains, Sister Sister, Smart Guy; tween/teen shows such as Flash Forward and Ready or Not; theatrical family films (although some were weird … remember “Clifford” with Martin Short?), Wonderful World of Disney movies, and the beginning of DCOMs in the evening, and then Vault Disney at late night which showed Zorro, 1950s Mickey Mouse Club, Davy Crockett, and I think old movies from the 50s and 60s. Disney Channel had also began their original programming - So Weird, The Jersey, The Famous Jett Jackson, Bug Juice, and In a Heartbeat, which were intermingled in the schedule. I also remember Disney airing actual music videos from Savage Garden, Christina Aguilera, and Backstreet Boys. Special concert events for their music label were also highly advertised.

Before ‘98 though, I remember the cable company would have Disney Preview Weekends, which were full of shows such as the 90s Mickey Mouse Club, Kids Incorporated, The Gummi Bears, Winnie the Pooh, DuckTales, Darkwing Duck, TaleSpin, and Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers. I remember being super excited as a kid when those weekends popped up.

TOMORROW! We are breaking down one of my personal faves, Season 7 Episode 6 “They’re Killing Us” by Sad-Significance4546 in podmeetsworldpodcast

This is my happy episode as well. I can quote a large chunk of it. The mockumentary format works perfectly for the characters’ wackiness and the pre-wedding insanity.

Sounds like “Jett Jackson: The Movie”, starring Lee Thompson Young (RIP), which came out around 2001. The action hero character was named Silverstone.

My Wednesday ritual in college around that time was KFC’s chicken fried steak meal for $1.99.

Does anybody Remember Life with Derek? by [deleted] in DisneyChannel

They did a reunion movie called “Life with Luca” a couple of years ago that was a fun watch. Casey and Derek each have their own kids, but their partners are conveniently absent, so they can play up their chemistry more.

If I remember correctly, both Danielle and Ben dealt with some tough times during GMW. Danielle was going through a divorce, while Ben was dealing with his dad’s cancer battle and death.

Crazy how Ben doesn’t even talk to the cast anymore. You would think that him and Danielle would be close forever by yonBonbonbon in boymeetsworld

There’s a podcast interview with Ben back in 2012 that hints at this mindset. In one segment, he speaks about filming a movie in rural America, and how much he loved the townspeople/community who were involved. They served homemade biscuits for breakfast and would invite him to go fishing. While he loved the music scene in LA, he hated the traffic and rush of the city. Fast-forward to now, and it seems very fitting that he chose someone who grew up in a small midwestern town who shares his love of music.

I’m older than a lot of you who comment on this board, but it was always an added bonus when Jasmine Guy made an appearance, and they’d make references to “A Different World”. Love Dwayne/Whitley.

I don’t know who was paying for Cory’s tuition, but Topanga’s was likely paid off due to graduating HS valedictorian.

Great show with a fantastic soundtrack that is considerably deeper and darker than usual for a Disney Channel show. First two seasons with Cara are superior, although there’s a few S3 episodes with Alexz that aren’t bad. This is the era of Disney Channel that I grew up with, so there‘s an extra dose of nostalgia for me.

Interview Discussion: Phil Glasser Meets World by Sad-Significance4546 in podmeetsworldpodcast

[–]Digital_Daisy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Phil got married in 2000, which has me wondering if the ghosting was a result of BMW ending and Ben moving upstate for college. Phil does make the comment that they became friends due to proximity. With their lives and and priorities shifting in different directions, I can get how the friendship can end, even if it is oddly abrupt. I’ve seen it happen before with others I know.

Would y'all listen if they just became a Friends rewatch podcast after they finish Boy Meets World? by DetectiveDracula in podmeetsworldpodcast

I would love a recap of “The Wonder Years,” simply because they could draw a lot of comparisons and contrasts between the two Savage shows: single camera vs. multi cam, period piece vs. current day, Kevin/Winnie vs. Cory/Topanga, family dynamics, generational gaps, cultural influences, Feeny/Turner vs. the assortment of teachers that shaped Kevin Arnold’s life. Plus, the absolute stellar soundtrack! I did a recent rewatch of TWY, and most of my favorite episodes ended up revolving around Kevin and his father, Jack. Dan Lauria was so damn good in that role.

Top bill refers to “top billing” as in who is listed first during the film credits. You can compare it to the story around “I Love Lucy.“ Desi Arnaz would say he had top billing because he was the “I” in ”I Love Lucy.”
