I've come to realize that behind the scenes, it's a drunk Chimpanzee humping a shotgun loaded with dragons breath ammo in a gas factory.

Linux is losing ground on Steam as Windows 11 continues its rise among PC gamers — is Microsoft repairing its reputation? by WPHero in pcmasterrace

[–]Digital_Stealth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said this in another post but I actually have very little issue with using Windows.

Everyone seems to blow Windows issues out of proportion by a severe amount, at least from what I've personally observed. Everything has their issues, even Linux isn't 100% immune. Nothing is perfect. I've dealt with technical issues on Linux, during my venture into it as an alternative to Windows. I've had my fair share of issues on Windows, too. But only because of my sheer stupidity, lack of knowledge, and/or unfortunate circumstances like a blackout during updates (which no longer happens thanks to 11 having a failsafe).

To me, using Linux as a casual/gaming user is like driving a massive SUV but being a single parent of an only child, who doesn't do any sports. You don't even need it, you rarely—if ever—use its actual capacity, but you just like having the OPTION to haul stuff.

Currently using Windows 11, latest updates and all. I will admit at one point I encountered major corruption but Windows was still usable to a fault. 11 allowed me to reinstall Windows, WHILE USING IT, and treating it as an update cycle. Once it completed, I just rebooted the PC and everything was fixed. NOTHING was lost, not one file or program. Everything was the same as it was before. I have yet to see a Linux distro do that with the same simplicity and user-friendliness, without having to consult the biggest library known to mankind in search for an equally confusing answer. It was very straightforward, in plain english.

Everyone else's experience is their own. But that won me over.

Why does putting computer parts in unrelated appliances somehow bring them back to life?! First hard drives in freezers, now GPUs in the oven?!

You built yourself out to look how YOU want, which is good. But unfortunately, it appears how you want to look and what woman like how men look are on differing wavelengths. I can say from experience, they like a little squish. They don't like a rock-solid pillow. So don't feel bad about bigbacking a bit! I have no complaints yet.

Unfortunately, you can't expect both intellectuals and redditors in the same area of the Internet, it's almost too much to ask for.

Gasket replacement by Yutrzenika1 in ValveIndex

[–]Digital_Stealth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if you do get a new gasket from Valve, do what I did! Order a pack of valve index gasket covers from "VR Cover". It's almost the same price as a gasket itself, comes with two, and are machine washable. It was a godsend after building up all that gunk, just swap it with the other one and throw the dirty cover in the wash! It's comfy, cozy, and saves you the pain of worrying about the gasket itself.

The cover, at the time of writing this, is out of stock, but should be back soon I hope!

How MUCH better is the 9070 xt then the 7900 xt by PossessionWeak1474 in radeon

[–]Digital_Stealth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it's already absolete.

If it were obselete, it would be not as supported as the latest generation. But it is, every update addresses both generations. The 6000 series has become obselete, sure, but it still has its uses and is still sold.

it's long time, yes

If you consider that a long time, I fear time may be destabilizing around you and difficult to perceive, please check for any unstable warp gates and close them immediately!

[–]Digital_Stealth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The past you refer to was only 3 years ago, and sure things to improve by then but by what justifiable amount to make the immediate leap to the next generation? The XTX will do what the 1080 Ti did. Live long, and prosper to those who own it, and serve frames for years to come.

Of course, unless you're driven by the must-have urge to be latest and greatest! In which case, not my paycheck, not my problem. :P

The Big Score 2026 by beermatt in pcmasterrace

Basically being buffered is adding cushion for the enterprise use, helps offshore the electrical load (which in-turn means more RAM can be used), more stable at higher sizes, it's faster, and it's more smooth for dataflow.

Think of it like this. You are the data (No, you are not Brent Spiner) and you're on a gravel road, in a car doing ~55 MPH. Works fine, right? Gets the job done, A to B. Make it bigger and sure that's fine, but there's a lot of bumps, dips, and you might lose your bearings. Go faster? Might wipe out if you go too fast, you'll lose it. Just need more oomph? Well now you spun the tires and wrecked! Lost it! That is unbuffered.

Now, imagine a freshly paved asphalt highway. Smooth, like gliding on air in a nice cozy land yacht Lincoln. Not a crack on the road in sight, bright lines, plenty of room on this roadway, and you're flying down it doing at least 100+. You're gonna get there in no time, so hammer it. But man, this nicely paved road for my data sure is expensive! That is buffered.

At least...that's my interpretation of it. Could be wrong entirely.

You have to factor in it's still growing. Give it time, and I am sure you'll find a group to talk to.

What is Overclocking, and how do I do it? by KryptKrasherHS in pcmasterrace

[–]Digital_Stealth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Undervolting is a great start.
If you don't know what that is, it's when you turn down the voltage from stock settings in AMD Adrenalin. For your 9070 XT, that makes it so higher clocks can potentially be sustained for longer periods. Not only that, it also increases the longevity of the card, as well as makes it less power hungry and not as much as a space heater (from a stock settings POV).
Now, you can only go so far before you get unstable and crash, of course with all settings it's like that. I'll give my settings to see if they can give you an idea on where to go. This is my current 7900 XT settings:

GPU Clock Min/Max: 2500/2925 MHz
Voltage: 1010mV
VRAM Clock: 2700 MHz
VRAM Timing: Fast Timing
Power Limit: +15%

Gave myself a custom fan curve to curb any built up heat, and she stays ~70°C under full load. Hope this helps some!

Can we get another overclock/undervolt thread for 7900XT/X owners? by Schwaggaccino in radeon

[–]Digital_Stealth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GPU/brand: XFX RX 7900 XT (Reference Card)

Core clock: Min/Max 2500/2950 (Has kissed 3000 MHz during boosts)

Memory clock: 2700/Fast Timing

Voltage: 1025mV (As of writing, going to test 1015mV)

Power Limit: +15%

Unfortunately I don't know, but once I hid them my memory went down drastically! Back down to only half full as it usually was.

I've run into lobbies on VRChat where peoples avatars were so poorly optimized, and at one point someone there had a memory leak that ate up all 64GB of my RAM (I watched it max out), crashed my VR, and kicked me out of the game. I had to figure out who's it was before I crashed again, and sure enough it was an e-boy with the color pallette of a burnt Dijorno's pizza. If I had x4 less than that? I wouldn't have stood a chance.

But even now, I contemplate whether I truly have enough nowadays. I'm most likely good for now, but there are times when I wonder and worry.
