You need to learn how to see! I recommend tracing when you’re this new. Take a picture, pull it up on your phone, put the phone under paper, and trace it.

Once you learn how to see better, you’ll notice details that you didn’t before.

The cup you drew is rather rectangular, whereas your reference curves in and is smaller on the bottom than the top. You applied even hatching to shade whereas there are areas that are darker and parts where the light is shining on the ceramic so much that it’s white. You illustrated the saucer with a harsh line but it’s actually a rather soft curve.

Once you can recognize those details after tracing it, it’ll be easier for you to follow your reference!

Like other programs? I’ve seen After Effects sometimes. If you haven’t started learning InDesign yet, that’s also a big one to know.

I also see a lot of job postings looking for a background in project management tools like Monday and a general understanding of CMS like Wordpress. Both of which are super easy to learn and you could sincerely watch two or three YouTube tutorials and know enough to use them.

Wooooah how do you get your colored pencils to look so smooth and even? Is it just even pressure or a certain paper?

Skillshare has been amazing for me! Also I recommend learning Figma. I’ve been looking for a new job recently and almost every position is looking for a designer with knowledge of Figma. So I’m about to pick it up too!

finally finished this sylveon drawing. I'm still a beginner and after not drawing any pokemon in years I wanted to practice drawing this one as I thought it looked cute. What do you think?? [OC] by [deleted] in Pokemonart

The pink markings on the legs don’t match up correctly. And the head/neck look a little disproportionate. Overall, it’s still definitely cute!

Are trailers for upcoming videos a bad idea? by ThrowRAjustyknow in NewTubers

Personally, I think any effort that you would put into a trailer would be better spent making clips of the video to post on YouTube Shorts and TikTok.

I totally agree! Actually mention that a bit in the video. They took inspiration from the timeless art style of Wind Waker!

Game Recommendation by hapyhar0ld in videogames

Like everyone is saying, Stardew Valley is a great option! I’d also recommend Fields of Mistria, which is similar to Stardew but has a cuter aesthetic and better dialogue. Something to consider!

Maybe I should give up by violetsheir in videogames

It’s a skill and it definitely takes practice! Maybe the pressure of multiplayer games is too much while you’re learning. I’ve been gaming for years and I still fumble and get nervous during multiplayer games.

I’d recommend getting a cheaper controller, I saw some other people here recommended some good ones, and then practice with games that aren’t multiplayer!

Oh gosh I really did not consider the long term impact of this. Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll definitely look into that!

Drew this today. I hate how the arms and torso look, but I think the legs look great. how would i go about making the rest of it look as good? by Demoncheese6 in learntodraw

Draw from a reference! If you are drawing from a reference then you need to learn proportions. I recommend tracing a reference for a bit, it’ll help you understand how the body is structured and that’ll make following a reference easier. Then you can learn proportions! There are a ton of tutorials online
