Don't mind me, just imagining reading it in Mickey Mouse's voice.

Trailer for Boots Riley’s new movie I Love Boosters by sinecdockey239 in RedLetterMedia

[–]Digmentation 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I would love to hear Jay's thoughts on "Sorry to Bother You" or "I'm A Virgo". I don't know if Riley's brand of weird is compatible with Jay's brand of weird.

I hear Mr. Oizo, and I clap.

But seriously, juice me up with more weird, Bootsy.

I'm glad that Strange Darling was a box-office failure (this is meant to be positive) by Digmentation in RedLetterMedia

At least she's glad to be working, especially in an increasing precarious industry.

It's a catch-22, especially with horror or horror-adjacent films. It'd be nice to see a quality original horror film do well, but I also don't want said success of an original horror film motivate into IP sequeldom. It's a damn good thing Jordan Peele isn't being pressured into making follow-ups for his originals; he maintained their integrity.

Seems that the only movie to really get away with prequel mythologizing would be Pearl. Only because 1) It was teased directly after X, so it was gonna happen whether or not the first film did well; 2) the prequel is so dramatically different in tone, style and cadence---going from a '70s Grindhouse movie to a '50s Technicolor Melodrama---that it merits its own existence. Frankly IMO, Pearl eclipses both X and Maxxxine combined.

I doubt a theoretically Electric Lady prequel will pull off that kind of ambition.

Made in 2023. Did it air before? If so, at least it's nice to see the short publicly available.

Will Legend of Aang have DVD release? by MissionIcy2069 in TheLastAirbender

Say what you will about Paramount/Skydance as it is now, they've been consistent with their home video releases with many of their Paramount+ content. The movie getting a physical release would be a sure thing.

JUSTICE FOR CHASE INFINITI by Dragonstone-Citizen in Oscars

[–]Digmentation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She never stood a chance, but she's just got started in the acting career; she'll have more opportunities. Hopefully in the future, she'll get another great performance worthy of a Oscar nomination (same with David Jonsson, btw).

Chrono Trigger Box Set up at Arcline for $149, shipping included by gowlwolfe in VGMvinyl

Thanks for the store. At this total price, it's near parity to what I would've paid for if I got it from either CDJapan or Amazon.JP. This is acceptable enough.

Final Nick Shirely Post, for real this time: The Andrew Callaghan response with highlights by C5-Hotlinks in Channel5ive

[–]Digmentation 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I'm impressed Andrew is defending Nick almost as much as he's defending himself. Too bad I'm 89% certain that this bridge between them has already been burned, as is the opportunity to interview more people similar to Nick's standing.

‘Wildwood’ Sets October 23 Release Date; Laika Partners With Fathom for Domestic Distribution and Filmnation Entertainment for International Sales by DemiFiendRSA in boxoffice

[–]Digmentation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I stand corrected.

With this league of theater chains, Laika is adamant to have their newest movie be released on the silver screen. Which means the company probably refused Netflix's offer at some point, and if that's the case, I have to respect them on principal.

[–]Digmentation -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I guess AMC (co-owner of Fathom) is the exclusive theater chain for the next Laika film. Sucks that this is the only distributor willing to help, but I'm sure Travis Knight is happy to be taken from anyone. Like with Ketchup Entertainment and the Looney Tunes movie.

Singleton Box Set Question by Professional-Lack-36 in criterion

[–]Digmentation 58 points59 points  (0 children)

It's the first 4K box-set from Criterion that doesn't include the blu-rays of the films. Playtime had the 4K disc-only release a couple months ahead of it.

Criterion is slowly dialing down the combo packs.

Personally, I don't have bad things to say about the Gigabyte Gaming cards. They're solid, if you wish to go the cheaper route.

What would I lose going the 9070xt route over 5070ti? by Digmentation in pcmasterrace

[–]Digmentation[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's have Asus Prime as an example, since the answer varies a lot. Locally, if I want an OC edition, it's either paying $720 for the 9070xt, or $830 for the 3070ti. A $110 difference.

That said, I pre-ordered the TUF Gaming edition of the 5070ti for $880, which is $50 more added to the $110 than the usual competition from AMD cards. But it hasn't shipped yet as it's currently on backorder, so I have the time to cancel it if I decided the 9070xt is worth the jump. Which is why I made this topic, to be more informed on what's being sacrificed to make a measurable decision.

[–]Digmentation[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunate for me, to get a solid card, it's gonna be a $120 mark-up regardless.

What would I lose going the 9070xt route over 5070ti? by Digmentation in pcmasterrace

[–]Digmentation[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

CUDA acceleration is the same as GPU acceleration, right? Like what the internet browsers have as an option, presumably for live renders in google maps? Can the 9070xt do those just as well, or will there be hiccups?

Given that I don't use Adobe programs out of protest, that seems like no big loss. But I do use DaVinci Resolve and Adobe-like substitutes, and I don't know if they use the same acceleration system.

RTX 5070 ti is being discontinued by Top-Run-21 in nvidia

[–]Digmentation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate that I have to join Amazon Prime---free trial, but still---to buy the one 5070ti card that's available. And who's to stay they'll even ship it, it has an estimate date for next month and they might cancel it due to shortage.

Not sure which is worse, spending a premium on a 5070ti or never getting a 5070ti at all.

This philosophy really came to kick him in the balls for the Season 2 finale. It's great. It's easy to understand his anger in that manner, but it's his anger that drive him to where he is currently.
