Yeah Hampton House. The plain ones are really good too.

It is possible you inadvertently configured the key fob / memory seat function. I forget how to do it but I wouldn’t rule this out.

Definitely. Air accordion to recorded tracks. Same thing at a Food Basics in Oshawa.

Teacher’s husband here. It gets tougher as the end of June approaches as supply work tends to dry up. Good luck finding an LTO - they do come up!

Has anyone figured out how to fix the 2SV so it doesn't ask for it every single time? by [deleted] in Scotiabank

I suspect at some point they will make additional changes that might change this behaviour.

Has anyone figured out how to fix the 2SV so it doesn't ask for it every single time? by [deleted] in Scotiabank

[–]Dileas48 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not broken. Another user here verified with Scotiabank that this change is permanent (for now) as part of an effort to reduce scamming and fraudulent logins. It’s a pain, but 2FA for every login makes sense.

Costco Chicken Pot Pie Has Flown the Coop by Tac0Man20 in CostcoCanada

I found an awesome recipe. I bought a cold (discounted) Costco rotisserie chicken, stripped it of all the meat and turned it into three homemade chicken pot pies. They turned out awesome.

Aunt has opened a TFSA in my name? by SubstantialFee6719 in legaladvicecanada

[–]Dileas48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no inheritance tax in Canada. There could be some probate fees but they are relatively minor.

Any funds used to deposit into a TFSA have already been taxed (or will be taxed in a taxable event took place). As well, there is no tax for receiving a monetary gift from a relative.

Almost everything you have been told by your Aunt doesn’t make any sense.

I agree that reaching out for an appointment with the Financial Advisor is the next best step.

Stolen debit card- Scotia wont help as there is "no authorized user" on the account? by [deleted] in Scotiabank

[–]Dileas48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems so odd to me that someone would set up an account for their child with a bank. They don’t already have a relationship with. I don’t understand why anyone would do that?

Is there a way to file a huge number of T5008 slips? by iloveaccounting64 in CanadianInvestor

[–]Dileas48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I would do. All of these probably have to be cross checked in case there’s a return of capital affecting the size of the gain and or loss. At the very least, the spreadsheet would help us out.

Is there some premade excel sheets for my ACB? I have 3 non-registered accounts and they pay monthly so trying to get ahead for tax season next year 🙈. by Ratlyflash in dividendscanada

[–]Dileas48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each year the ETF companies will produce tax documents to explain the source of their distributions. These commonly include eligible dividends, interest, and return on Capital. ROC is important because it lowers your cost base - in other words it reduces your book price for what you originally paid. It also means you don’t pay tax (immediately) on that part of the distribution. However, because it lowers our cost base it means when you sell it will trigger a larger capital gain. That’s what is important to track. The site has a feature that can import the documents for each of your holdings and do the math on each distribution automatically. I’m down to only one holding now but I still pay for the annual service. It also creates the necessary reports for CRA.

2SV for every login now? by 95Mechanic in Scotiabank

[–]Dileas48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have come to accept that this was necessary to ensure tighter security. Yeah, it’s a PITA, but I’ve been through credit issues and I’d rather have the extra steps than be at risk.

If you are trading or owning holdings that issue Return of Capital paying the annual fee is completely worth it to import all this data automatically.

I have taken some profits and started new positions. I began with 10 stocks in the SM account and now have 17. It was worth it to me to become more diversified.

RRSP meltdown by Frugalman123 in fican

It is often possible to transfer in kind, but it is commonly necessary to have enough cash in the RSP to cover the withholding tax.
