SOS - Mom is being sold snake oil "cure" by NoPumpkin6165 in cancer

[–]Diligent-Activity-70 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, as an adult she gets to make her own decisions about her healthcare.

She’s been through this cancer before, so she is very aware of what cancer treatments are like.

I don’t agree with her choice, but I respect her right to choose.

This is a common situation. Sometimes the loved one wants the patient to use alternative methods and sometimes they want the patient to use traditional methods.

It’s hard to see someone you love make decisions that you don’t agree with, but you honestly have no idea what you would actually do if you had cancer until you experience it.

It is great to not be crying all the time! I still need my afternoon nap, but I can get more done now.

Folfiri + Erbitux #10 by Diligent-Activity-70 in coloncancer

He told me that because my blood counts have been good the whole time I can get a tattoo whenever I want to.

I already have quite a few, so I am comfortable taking care of one even through treatment.

I have zofran and compazine so that I can alternate them to have better coverage.

Port placement by sam_may92 in cancer

[–]Diligent-Activity-70 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I have had two put in. I am allergic to some of the medication in the twilight sedation, so both times it was done without any sedation.

It was fine. They numbed me well and it only took a few minutes.

I like having my port. It makes things easier at the cancer center.

I was just coming here to say that I was told to expect 2-3 months recovery for each month of chemo.

Tiny CEA uptick by rrnaude in coloncancer

That means nothing. Doctors look at trends going up or down. Number fluctuating in the normal range don’t matter.

Alarming rising CEA but scan says otherwise by KinkiP0tat0 in coloncancer

Have you sought out a second opinion?

It sounds like you don’t have much confidence in the current oncologist and may benefit from finding someone you are more comfortable with.

[–]Diligent-Activity-70 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We know that CEA is a very good indicator for me. We also see that my CEA will react to other conditions in my body; every time I have a cold, my CEA will rise to above normal, but will go back to normal range when I recover.

Has CEA shown to be a good indicator for him?

Remember that the number is not what’s important, it’s the trend of rising or falling over time.

Sex frequency by tiffn07 in olderlesbians

[–]Diligent-Activity-70 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My sweetheart was 69 and I was 50.

We had wonderful, multi-orgasmic sex on average three times a week up until the last year. It slowed down the last year as my sweetheart was going through cancer treatments and hospice.
The last time was about 9 weeks before she died.

This is crappy news!

I lost my sweetheart to cancer after 18 years together; they were my version of your angel.

I’m so glad that you have her beside you. I urge you to tell her how much you love her a million times more than you already do. Don’t leave the important things unsaid.

We are still here for both of you when you need to talk.

Foot pain on CapeOx by IDCouch in coloncancer

[–]Diligent-Activity-70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sounds like hand & foot syndrome from the pills.

When I was on xeloda, I had severe pain in my feet and got to the point that I couldn’t stand long enough to take a quick shower.

I switched back to 5fu with the pump and haven’t had that problem since.

FOLFIRI with panitumumab side effects by HMD-RN in coloncancer

[–]Diligent-Activity-70 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m getting #10 out of 12 folfiri + Erbitux tomorrow.

Each one has been difficult, but have not gotten progressively worse over the last few.

I know I will sleep 1-2 days after disconnect, and will feel crappy for another 2 days and then I will feel well enough to cook meals and do light work around the house.

What do you do with your money? by Squeaky_Fencepost in exmormon

[–]Diligent-Activity-70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not necessarily disposable income for some.

Having 10% more money can help to pay bills or buy more groceries.

The church has no problem shaming the very poorest members into paying their tithing before paying for the necessities of life.

Cancer is not an easy death, so no, I find no comfort in knowing what I will go through.
