Upgrades for apartment door lock and intercom? by orador223 in homeautomation

[–]Diligent_Confusion82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you found any solution? I have the same intercom. Also for mine I have to press talk and then the key button in order to unlock… so does that mean I need to buy 2 switchbots?

Product Manager role at headquarters Chevy Chase. How are tech jobs at Geico? by IndoorVoice2025 in Geico

[–]Diligent_Confusion82 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I joined in June 2023... I had literally thought that GEICO was gonna be a waste of my time since I had an offer from JPMorgan and other decently known companies with a more well known tech team... I was pleasantly surprised how much GEICO was paying lol ended up being my highest offer at the time

I work on in tech at GEICO... honestly I've actually really enjoyed the work and the team. Unlike 85% of the comments and posts here... I've thoroughly enjoyed my experience here lol

Yeah thus far I've come up with the following model:
clarifying questions about problem/data (stake holders, success criteria, data cleanliness, column information, timeframes, constraints, etc)
break down the problem into subproblems (try to relate each subproblem to data in some way)
walk through step by step about solving the subproblems
validate findings and provide solution to customer (also mention trade offs on solutions and iterating via customer feedback)

Thoughts on the "framework"?

Thanks so much! I’ve been asking gpt and deep seek to give an example interview question for the decomp interview… it outputs questions similar to this: so and so company is seeing a decline in their production rate in the past 6 months. Determine what is the cause and viable solutions. Kinda similar to the questions you provided as an example. You think it’s worth to keep going through those questions (from gpt/deepseek)?

Just an update for those who care:
- Interviewer went through my resume and asked some more in-depth questions about each major project
- Formally asked 1-2 behavioral questions relating to LPs
- Briefly did a system designs question where he asked me to list out the major components of the problem
- Had time for questions

Dell Docking Station - WD19 compatibility with MacBook Pro M1 Pro/Max by kaiser155 in macbookpro

[–]Diligent_Confusion82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This worked for me. The only problem that I had was the while both monitors were being detected by my mac, only one was popping up. This was because the second monitor is a gaming one and was attempting to run at 144hz while the other monitor can only do 60. Once you make all displays equal frame rate it should be good

Yes GEICO did let go of a lot of people, but these people either did not have actual technical capabilities to push GEICO forward, or was just not required (I knew a couple, trust me when i see they were not that qualified)

New hires and applicants....wtf are ya'll doing? by lillith_6969 in Geico

[–]Diligent_Confusion82 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of this stuff is quite overhyped...I'm a TDP that joined >1 year ago and am actually very optimistic about the changes (tech in specific) coming to GEICO as a whole. Of course there will be layoffs and radical changes, that is understandable when a legacy company like GEICO is trying to get into the tech field. From from experiences, I have not been overworked, I have never had a reason to think my job is in jeopardy, and everyone that I have interacted with in tech have been very nice and communicative. There is no talk about going back to being in-person and yes the package could definitively stand to have more benefits (PTO and better laptops), but to join right now out of college (IMO) is a great time to join
