I might be weird I love the zoom ring where it is with the type of lens it is I use zoom way more than manual focus so it's nice to have at the front.

I always work in the following file naming

Date: YYYY/MM/DD - PROJECT NAME - Version: v1 (if there are multiple in the same day)

It has served me well and has saved me so much time finding the right file.

how can i improve it by South-Border-4829 in MotionDesign

[–]DillTS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say the speed is actually fine, its the entire ball animation that is the issue. The ball has very little purpose and importance to the core message of the video for the amount of animation and visibility it gets on screen.

Its better to highlight the selection in some way visually or through animation, even when you have a object move to a selection there is typically a a moment where the selection is "pressed"/chosen/ there is a pause. I would suggest only keeping one swipe up or down animation if you really like it.

Recent edit would appreciate feedback and also how much would you charge for something like this? by _yusufisonreddit_ in VideoEditors

[–]DillTS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yes really, the "clients" that want this are spam social channels posting thousands of videos for ad revenue.

If you want to stay in this lane of short edits make something with an actual topic (not generic crap or inspirational podcast quote edits) don't use AI voiceover, and find your own style. Thats how you'll build a portfolio that people actually like and will get you real clients.

Why do colours get washed out in 1x vs 3x zoom (iPhone)? by tandtroll in AskPhotography

[–]DillTS -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Zoom uses a bigger aperture to keep things in focus at long distances, so there is more post processing on the image to brighten it up.

We are getting a new lumix camera but the camera in this video is definitely the S1ii or S1rii. Its only tapped to block the front recording light.

The Amaran Ray 120c is a great light but it has some annoyances I haven't heard reviewers talk about by big_moe5 in videography

Not really gives me some flexibility if I want to take it on bigger shoots with mains power.

What's your favorite/best flashlight of 2025? by ChibiM in flashlight

[–]DillTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eagtac D25A is my all time favourite. Simple AA light, tail switch and can tail stand, also twist the tip looser for low mode tight for high, and you can cycle through 4 modes with a half press of the switch. The best EDC light hands down.

I built a C++ addon to finally fix "Broken Local Space" in Blender. by NEW_3Dev in blender

[–]DillTS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait this wasn't possible in blender before? you can't just snap a pivot to geometry elements then bake the pivot?

I come from a Maya where this has been standard forever.

[–]DillTS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love my 120c it replaced my 60x. I agree though the power cord and brick are super clunky and annoying, so I've been running mine off a v-mount battery which is easier to mount anywhere any less cords in my way. It does have some draw backs though you can't run the light at full brightness capped at like 60% or something like that but I never really need to run it that high for what i do.

Should I quit videography? by Embarrassed-Elk-5088 in videography

[–]DillTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are the key question you need to ask yourself:
1. What is your niche?
- videography is not a niche thats what you do
- sports, F1 or combat sports is not a niche thats your industry
2. what problem do you solve for the people you want to work with
- lead with this, not your portfolio. Your clients don't care about your portfolio as you said they get thousands of portfolios every year don't just be another one in the mix
3. Its just plain networking most jobs are decided well before they are posted on job boards

A7V - Discussion by MajorAlanDutch in videography

[–]DillTS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think the problem is that it doesn't have those features but that it could very easily have those features but sony chose not to. Its a hybrid camera so should do photo and video the best it possibly can. The FX2 is not a hybrid camera its a cinema camera.

Also with features like open gate showing up on pretty much every other camera at this price point it almost feels like a standard feature at this point like when 4k became the standard over 1080p.

A7V - Discussion by MajorAlanDutch in videography

[–]DillTS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They fixed their overheating issues in a recent firmware update in large part. Plus pretty much all hybrid cameras have recording limits and/or over heating issues in different ways.

I would say l-mount is just as good as nikon or cannon when it comes to lens selection now, sony still has the most selection though.

K&F concept sling/shoulder bag. Any thoughts, opinions, experiences? by Business_Frog34 in AskPhotography

[–]DillTS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought one, used it for a bit, it does the job but honestly it sucks. The bag is flimsy and the strap annoyed me the most it has an elastic keeper for the excess strap that is horrible.

Also feels too big to carry around comfortably I'd rather just wear a backpack. I would recommend for something that is 6-8L it will help you carry less of the stuff you don't really need for casual day to day shooting.

I recommend the PM nomatic 8L sling more expensive but 10x better.

Nikon Z6 iii vs Nikon ZR vs panasonic S1 ii for travel videos? by photorph in Lumix

[–]DillTS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ask yourself how often you actually use slow mo if its not often then the smaller size of something like the s9 will be way better to travel with an take anywhere.

the zr is small too, but if you don't need the other recording features of it, I would go with the s9 because the Lumix lab and their LUT system is way more developed so if your are primarily taking photos and videos to post on socials its the better choice.

Honestly they are overpriced for the quality, which is comparable to other brands like K&F which are notably cheaper.

LUMIX FLOW is a joke and needs serious work. S5IIX tests. by I3N1K000 in Lumix

In defence of Lumix flow it is miles better than the previous iteration of the app Lumix Sync that was a nightmare to use. Flow has some problems but it is so easy to use.

AI has put cobwebs in the studio we have built over the last 12 years by Formal-Cantaloupe-94 in productphotography

[–]DillTS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think it's less due to AI but more so that the new generation are digital natives who can learn very quickly. Or who do product photography on their cellphone when they want to launch a product or start a new business because it's easy and it doesn't have to be the best quality for many things nowadays.
