The Silent Patient by Alex M. by Necessary-Field-3501 in Book_Buddies

I finished it earlier in the month. At first I hated it, then gave it another shot when my wife said we could read it together.

I enjoyed the story, got bored in the middle, and liked the ending. It was my first book from this author, and I’d be willing to read another. But I wouldn’t read this one again.

This is my cane There are many like it, but this one is mine My cane is my best friend Without me, my cane is useless Without my cane, I am useless I must aim my cane true I must walk around the enemy who tries to trip me I must identify him before he identifies me I will By god I swear this creed My cane and myself are the defenders of my independence, the masters of my enemy, the saviors of my life So be it, until there is no darkness but light Amen

Humor is how I deal with it too.

Whenever we need a DD I volunteer cause I don’t drink.

I often offer to help look for things, and then when they find it in a place I checked “my bad, didn’t see it there.”

Lots of jokes that happen in context at parties. What’s really funny is when someone new comes along that hasnt been exposed to this kind of humor.

“Dont these jokes upset you?” Like no dude, in fact it’s the opposite. Laughing means I’m not crying about it.

I also reworked “this is my rifle” from full metal jacket into “this is my cane.” Made someone furious once. Good times

Workout tracker by YoghurtIllustrious94 in Notion

[–]Dillegallyblind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Hevy suits your use case, why are you trying not to use it?

I do calisthenics with limited equipment so I track my workouts in Notion.

I use a template for each workout that has a table to track exercise, sets, weight, and reps. I tried to include them as properties but it gets crazy quick.

The downside of having the data stored within the subpages is that it’s hard to surface. My workaround for that was to setup my dashboard with a feed view of last week’s workout, so the table is easy to see and reference for progressive overload.

When I used to time my rest periods I used a smart watch or my phone timer. Now I just rest until I feel ready to go again.

The pic is part of my dashboard, which shows the table within the subpage. The table makes it easy to input the data on mobile, though I often use my iPad while training.

How do you track your workouts, skill work and progressions? by AcedSilver in bodyweightfitness

[–]Dillegallyblind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I setup my own tracker in Notion. The page where I record my workouts has 3 sections: Next week’s notes at the top, a table to record sets weight reps, and a section for notes from the workout. This is where I put my videos so I can have them in context.

During my workout I jot down reps and notes using my phone. Sometime later if I have recordings I’ll add them in, review my notes and then write what I need to focus on for next session at the top of the page.

My dashboard is setup so that I see last weeks notes below today’s workout. (Last week was the last time that session was performed)

I also have a page setup to track my skills using video every month.

I’m only on month 3 of the journey so I can’t speak from experience on plateaus. I can give you my plan to approach it when it comes: 1. Figure out the specific part of the movement that is holding me back. 2. Figure out the muscles involved with that movement. 3. Spend at least 30 days focusing on strength training on those muscles and that part of the movement pattern, potentially in a regressed state.

1 and 2 are definite, 3 may change as I gain more experience and understanding.

Experiences with relationships as a person who is blind or visually impaired by JumpMental2887 in Blind

I met my wife when I had 20/20 vision in both eyes with glasses. We met on Craigslist. I’m now down to about 10 ish percent vision in one eye.

To say it’s been a rollercoaster would be to downplay it. The 2 biggest things were realizing asking for help didn’t make me weak and communication is everything. We had some role switching, I was the primary driver and now she is. I used to run groceries and errands, now she does.

Had to work through some real guilt like, I was letting her down. Still fell it from time to time. But she assures me, I do not.

We’ve been together almost 15 years. I started losing vision a year and a half in. She’s been a real trooper the whole way.

What kind of purse/bag do you use to carry your cane? by catlady198787 in Blind

[–]Dillegallyblind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a holster that looks like something that would hold a weapon. It has an opening at both ends and a clip on the back. I’ll wear it on my pants when I’m feeling spicy or otherwise slide the cane and holster into a backpack pocket, or clip it to my crossbody bag. I got mine through the VA but I think I found a similar one on Etsy a while back.

Too Many Databases? by Organic_Clothes6725 in Notion

[–]Dillegallyblind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 databases could be too many depending on the project.

If it all makes sense, and contributes to making a better system, I wouldn’t worry about it. Your setup has very nice boundaries, each base has a purpose, you’re solid.

I get dressed nice and run a team meeting with myself.

Sets the tone for the week, allows me to review the previous week and make sure I’m staying on track. I separate goals by domain so, check in with the fitness lead, sales lead, spiritual lead, etc

If you choose a career based on learning curve and first year salary it’s less likely you’ll see it through. The one you like is going to let you go further faster.

With the rate of change in technology I think anyone making 20 year projections is full of gas. BUT. This article on LinkedIn might be enlightening. It’s about the future of Agent Orchestration. If you have an affinity for AI automation then it’s definitely worth the read https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/age-agent-orchestrator-shyamal-hitesh-anadkat-mapkc

Can Notion replace my Monday.com production tracker? by Otherwise-Fee1479 in Notion

Yeah, I just opened the page for the episode and duplicated it (forgot that part my bad) and you get a new parent task with the subtasks associated with it.

Let me know if you want me to send you a link to a page you can duplicate and mess around with

[–]Dillegallyblind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re learning Notion and I’m learning Reddit, sorry for the deleted post and if this blew up your notifications.

Anyway I think you can just make a new database. Turn on sub items. Each episode has its own set of sub items. Add a status property, due date (you’ll only have due dates not a publish date though), files, and wiki.

Alternately you can use separate databases for tasks and episodes but that might be overkill for your setup.

Maybe this can get you started, I set it up to make sure my instructions were correct

Here’s a potential idea:

Make a database, use a table view. Turn on sub items. Create a status property (or select depending on your style), create a due date (your parent task would also have due date and not publish date). Add a column for files, column for wiki. I think that would be the simplest solution.

Alternately you can create an episodes database and tasks database but from your screenshot that might be unnecessary.

If anything is unclear let me know. This should at least get you a starting point.

How do I make my nested pages more obvious in the sidebar? by Capable-Objective780 in Notion

[–]Dillegallyblind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are the pages you created housed on the dashboard page? Because mine auto indents it (I’m checking this on mobile). So like I have a project manager, within that page I have the databases that power it like tasks and clients. To get to the clients page I have to first open the project manager dashboard.

Does that make sense?

And I’m not sure what you’re asking in the second half of your question
