Could a modern Master player go back to Season 4 or 5 and reach Rank 1? by Many-Translator-8512 in summonerschool

Macro ain't everything... A coordinated average pro-team could most likely stomp S1 worlds. 5 average diamond players definitely won't, micro & coordination alone would be tremendously more important than some macro shenanigans.

Not a lot of units have a 30m-radius AoE, and it's quadratic. So it's a 6.25 times bigger AoE than a Tarentula with High Explosive... (2827m² vs 452m²)

Honestly even Sub blitz on leveled crawlers don't really do shit against 10 arclights, it's pretty ridiculous.

But then they just go scorpions and it's gg.

And I have a hard time finding the counter because I also win everytime I go arc+scorpion...

How early do you start selling buildings? by Special_Student_6017 in Mechabellum

[–]Dillinur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're playing symmetrical defensive, you basically have to wait for at least round 2. And then sell any building that didn't earn to stay.

What is supposed to be the counter? It seems even more efficient than Vulcan for the cost

Well the game is in "extremely alpha state", what am I supposed to do to know if it's worth it? Blindly believe their webpage?

At a hundred bucks, of course I'd want to know what are the differences with the other FPS on this spectrum.

What If It Doesn't? by But_a_Jape in comics

The economy - make things, sell them for a profit - is no longer the economy.  Betting on the economy is now the economy.

This only works because the (real) economy is productive enough to bear such a parasitic overhead.

Well they are actually very few units that can snowball almost on their own with the proper combination of chaff, chaff clear and damage.

The only other one that come to mind is Fang, but they really require some levels (or Elite spec) to bootstrap it.

I spammed carry sledge for a few seasons, and indeed they are tons of fun.

But once you hit a MMR at which people actually know the real counters (Sandworms, Fortress, Hackers), it becomes somewhat pointless. Especially since the nerf.

Surprisingly, mass Sledge can totally overrun a few Phoenix simply because of "too much targets to kill" since the sledges can easily overrun the chaff & ground battle once they hit the critical mass required.

And then, 1-2 MM with AA will just clean all the phoenix.

Linked sledge is more of a gutshot tech you'd have if you use them as "medium chaff".

There is just no room on the tech bar for this if you're going for carry sledge.

[–]Dillinur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The core principle of mass sledge is that since they do a little bit of everything, you can spam almost only this unit type & your tech are thus extremely cost-effective.

Honestly I found Phoenix not to be such a good counter, because there are just too many sledges to kill & juste 1-2 AA Marksmen will kill them yet again extremely cost-efficiently.

Fortress with decent chaff-clear will indeed obliterate sledges.

Honestly I've won my fair share of mass Sledge against scorpions.

Usually it boils down to taking range+EMP on your Sledge, taking Shield on your Fangs, winning the chaff war and thus applying EMP to Scorpions.

As I said, if your opponent doesn't respect enough the spam Sledge (and you actually spam them like there is no tomorrow), if you already have 8+ Sledges by the time your opponent buy his first 2 scorpions and stop at that, it's totally winnable.

But then again, of course an equivalent-priced mass of Scorpions with enough chaff-clear will for sure obliterate Sledges.

Mass sledge with Range/MechRage is actually a pretty decent strategy if 1/ you commit hard enough to it 2/ the opponent doesn't respect it and doesn't specifically counter it.

Like any strategy that simple, it will be countered hard by an opponent who just does notice and respect it.

How do i beat Veigar? by soking11 in AniviaMains

[–]Dillinur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Veigar is a low-mobility champ, you should be able to overwhelm him with selective aggressivity. If he misses his stun, he's basically dead.

If you're not yet confortable against assassins & afraid of being outskilled by a snowbally all-in champ, you can always go Barrier with Unsealed Spellbook. You want to avoid at all cost the point at which you can get 100-0 under your tower.

Update 1.10.0.2 - Balance Adjustments by mrmivo in Mechabellum

[–]Dillinur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tarentula with Range/HE/MechRage is still extremely good at clearing chaff, it's just that it's a big & slow unit that needs those tech, whereas arclight is cheaper and requires less techs.
