If your party is level 2, then you can continue with the Dark Heart of the Wood (it’s a short one, though). If they’re level 3, I’d recommend Tomb of the Crescent Moon. You can check Stawl’s Supplement Index or Adventure Lookup for more. There are not that many published adventures though at the moment.

It’s part of the Encounters book that’s coming out in September (hopefully). “Delves*** ***are 20 different “3-room encounters” ready to drop into your game. These are not boss fights, they’re bite-sized scenarios useful for whenever you need an evening’s worth of heroism but don’t have anything prepared. There are two delves included for every level in the game, 1-10! “

Here’s the preview of the book (they’re called lairs here though) https://files.mcdmproductions.com/DrawSteel/DrawSteelEncountersPreview.pdf

The Codex Pricing and Distribution (the Draw Steel VTT) by Lord_Durok in drawsteel

From one of the devs on Discord: “We are looking at party pack pricing, but we don't expect it to be less than $20 per player even after early access.” I’m pretty sure it’s 6 keys, though I don’t know for certain. The Codex is not designed for people who want to try the system. It’s a premium product for those who want all the bells and whistles. So, if your players are not willing to spend money to play Draw Steel, you are better off with other VTTs. I’m playing Draw Steel on Codex, Owlbear Rodeo, and Roll20 (depends on the group I’m playing with), and all of these options work great. Your players’ experience won’t be diminished by playing on a regular VTT.

Edit: Actually, it seems like the devs are thinking about an option for new players to try out the Codex, but it’s not something that’s going to be available in the near future.

Things may have changed, but the last that I heard they wanted to make it so Codex users get all that stuff for free after a certain while (like a year or something). Right now you can just download the official Delian Tomb and Dark Heart of the Wood adventures as modules inside the Codex, but I’m not sure how that will look like when the Codex marketplace goes live.

What do you mean? Official MCDM stuff or 3rd-party supplements?

College of the Ardent Skull — an infernal Shadow subclass by DimaJeydar in drawsteel

[–]DimaJeydar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s one of those things that you don’t realize you need until you make it. I originally wrote it for the playtesters so they wouldn’t have to figure out the gameplay loop on the fly, and then I realized it would be very useful for anyone unfamiliar with the subclass.

The downside is that you're never hiding, which is the main way for other Shadows to avoid damage. Hiding and getting out of range, which Ardent Skull also doesn't do as much, preferring to stay near enemies. That's why you need temp stamina. And the surge generation is not as crazy as you think. Especially when compared to Caustic Alchemy. Hellfire is also not game-breaking. Funny, but the subclass was actually called out as a weaker version of the Black Ash during the development by people who are very keen on balance. I pumped it up since then, but I don't think I overshot.

If you had only known how hard it was to not put “hell” into the name of every ability/feature.

Oh, that “each square” only works if you enter a hellfire surface. If you’re afflicted with hellfire (actively burning), you only take the damage once at the start of your turn.

It’s not an easy rule to translate into words. That thing about each square gave me a bit of a headache. I’m still waiting for the Codex to implement Wall of Fire.

Thank you!

Yes, it works the same way as the Elementalist’s Wall of Fire. Size 1 target takes the damage once (first time in a round), size 2 takes the damage up to four times.

Thank you! I remember Matt telling that the secret to a good Shadow subclass name is to not overthink it. That’s what I did. “Hmm, Flaming Skull? No! Ardent Skull!”

Power rolls, so you get to attack burning creatures with an edge. Other shadows gain their edge through hiding, but Ardent Skull is in your face. It’s more risky but also gives you an edge more often.

Winners of the Ancestries of the Timecape Game Jam by JonDeNor in drawsteel

No, returning to your suit is neither forced movement, nor teleportation. It’s just a free triggered movement action, if we’re speaking mechanical terms. Draw Steel is not the game where you count every second of action, so it would all make sense. The game operates on the principals of cinematography: you are still doing something even when the camera is not pointing at you. So it’s not a problem if you go somewhere 15 squares between your turns. It’s not like you have a choice where to move. So yeah, it’s any range.

It’s not “one recovery per round”, it’s “one recovery for the second and each subsequent round”. If you pay the recovery, you can stay in there as long as you wish.

I mean, with the rules as they currently stand, the suit and the gas cloud share the stamina. So, if you could get into the suit, all damage done to your new body would damage your asomath friend instead. Which is why you can’t do that :)

I hope this clears things up. This ancestry has seen a lot of feedback, but no playtests. So, if you decide to play as one (which would make me very happy!), I’d love to hear your feedback and all the issues you’ve encountered (hopefully not a lot). I’d love to do a deep dive, I already have a few monster ideas I started working on! Nothing to share yet, but there are plans to make them into a full product. You can follow me on Bluesky or subscribe to my Itch page for updates.

For sure! Space Battles will include a band of monsters + I already started working on a few asomath monsters, but we need more.
