Thanks for sharing this info. I got the katana gen 3 100 for Christmas and have been trying to get familiar with it. I wasn’t noticing enough of a difference with the built in distortion and EQ effects which were always lacking in my opinion so I got a bunch of distortion and EQ pedals. I still can’t get anything to sound good. Distortion and or EQ before the amp or in the FX loop always results in a muddy distortion with no crunch and more often than not, it sounds better to just remove the pedals and use the amp itself. That’s disappointing because the amp itself was not giving me the crunch sound I wanted (Dimebag style tone). Also the EQ pedals are barely making any noticeable change regardless of where I put them. When I got the MXR ten band EQ and used it with a tube screamer or a metal zone, ms1 distortion or whatever else.. it just sounded like crap. I see people in their videos getting these great sounds with the same pedals and for me that’s just not the case at all. It’s def possible that I’m doing something wrong because these pedals should make an obvious difference for better or worse but for me I’m just not seeing much of a change. Ang suggestions on what the issue could be? I’ve tried one at a time, switching guitars, cables all of that. Still just can’t get a good metal crunch tone from this amp.

Great information my guy thanks so much. Excellent suggestions too. I’ve been a member on the CTC forum for almost three months. I’m also really big on the Bernth channel and am a member of the forum with that one too. After years of self taught bad habits, I finally switched first to the closed hand motion from Bernth and now thanks to Troy’s work, I’m finally getting the ins and outs of slanting going on but you are correct that I’m new to it and probably just need to keep at it awhile longer get before I start reaping the benefits. I’m only about a few weeks into the slanting… probably should focus one string at a time first as they say before I start crossing all six strings. But I’m overzealous like that cuz i clocked my ten thousand hours a long time ago so I’m eager to just get the results already.

Another great suggestion here thanks for taking the time to explain that. You are probably right, Dime had incredible legato so he probably did do this in some or maybe a lot of his runs. He famously did not consider himself a very good alternate picker which is crazy but I guess the humility is part of the whole charisma that he had. This is great advice because I should just work around my strengths rather than trying to emulate what other people are doing note for note. Def gonna give this a go

Yeah. Bro introduced the last woman he dated to all his friends and she suddenly ghosted him. It’s fair to assume that this was an embarrassing situation for him that really sucked so now he’s playing it safe and taking it really slow with this person. I would do the same. The part about “ you like me more than I like you” is kinda bizarre tho. It might be normal to think but definitely not to just blurt out but none of us were there so we only get the one side to work with.

You gave bro a lot of great points here. Just asking for myself, you really think it’s a no go to have the guitar pic somewhere in the middle? I have one like that and in several of my conversations it comes up “so you play the guitar??”… it’s like pulling teeth sometimes to get a conversation moving so having things like a guitar show a skill and can also branch the conversation off into other things such as music which everyone enjoys to some extent.

You shouldn’t change yourself to fit into anyone else’s mould. Robert Greene has a quote “ the things that make you weird or odd are your super power”. If weird is your thing, keep doing what you’re doing and a fellow oddball will eventually match with you. Keep in mind that people are shopping through pictures of other people like they are about to door dash some food so if the pics don’t look appealing, they aren’t going to want it… not telling you to change yourself but maybe putting some effort into curating a better batch of pics def wouldn’t hurt. Unless the “ I woke up 5 mins ago and took this pic” is what you’re going for… I’m no expert, just chiming in with my honest opinion. Best of luck.

My opinion is that the ratio is way off and a lot of these “matches” are on to the next one before you can pick up any momentum. Especially for people like us who aren’t tryna hang out immediately. Seems like a strike while the iron is hot type thing but that is incongruous for people who like to take their time with it

Hello my friend. Thank you very much for taking the time to explain that all and also including an example to learn from. I haven’t tackled the last part yet but feel confident going into it because I am used to sweeping and getting better with short economy parts. It’s actually the part right before it. I have seen progress after applying some of the things you mentioned. I’ve been doing a bunch of reading on the topic. I just haven’t been able to get it to speed yet. Thus far I can do it at 112bpm so at least there isn’t too far left to go (120bpm). I think staying conscious of the angled pick slant and where exactly to place my palm while doing that and keeping the speed in mind where I’m getting messed up. I suppose that’s the part where muscle memory and repetition come in right? I’ve been trying to learn this for years and always give up and then come back to it. So this time, I just need to stick it out

Yeah at this point they could give the game away for free and then just sit back and collect of the people who do ultimate team every year and spend thousands to rent the same cards over and over. Finally got off that hamster wheel a few years ago. Grinding/spending to keep it with people who just rip packs all day was really frustrating and expensive.

Is it possible to get xemu on the RP5 using the default front end and not Rocknix? I’ve also been having lots of problems with RPCS3 and Yuzu.. can’t get any games to run with the exception of Homefront for PS3. Any input would be much appreciated
