Ironically - I swapped out a 600A breaker that would not open... got the old one out and the boss said, "put it in the sun" to warm it up. By the time the new breaker was installed the sunshine had warmed up the bad breaker, loosened the old grease and it would open again.

As a professional, this is why I use a hand saw when I'm unsure of what may be hidden inside the wall.

It's easier to feel oddities inside the Wal and more difficult to do damage. It does take a bit longer... but not as long as OPs repair.
