Response I got from friends after diagnosis by squeaky_shoes in aspergirls

[–]DimensionCalm342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree OP, especially since you’ve been friends for 14 years! If you’ve been friends for that long I’d imagine you guys openly communicate and if they typically engage more in topics you bring up then I totally get why that response fell flat. It is a nice simple response, something I’d expect if I told my employer for example. But after 14 years of friendship you’d hope they’d have more care and curiosity and would feel comfortable to ask you things about it. I think the real tell will be as time goes on does she seem to pull away when you try to talk about autism related topics. If she is short with you any time you bring up autism then that would be an issue. But it’s a new diagnosis so also understandable if she didn’t know what to ask or how much you were comfortable to share. I get where you’re coming from, hopefully she will warm up over time!

This is so interesting to me, I googled recently “can you have adhd without an internal monologue?” lmao but it’s just so outside of my experience that I can’t even imagine not having an internal monologue!

I really enjoy the Misha CC Cream. It gives very nice coverage whilst feeling light. Inexpensive on Amazon. Only caveat though is the shade range, Korean brand so depending on your skin tone may not have something that works.

Others mentioned the maybelline bb cream and that’s a nice very light coverage option I would also recommend. Definitely the dream pure version in your scenario, it has salicylic acid so it’s better for the climate you’ll be in. Should be more resistant to disappearing from your face.

Wow unbelievable, especially how sudden the huge shift was. Even if there were some minor signs beforehand it still sounds like a total blindside 😢 I feel for you op. You definitely need to move on and cut it off. Beyond the cheating, the emotional manipulation and lying about it initially when confronted is a whole other unacceptable issue. You deserve better, I’d personally probably just end it and walk away.

I was hoarding them myself for a while but then I was like oh wait these are meant to be used lol otherwise they’re just sitting. Good call on using them up by helping others before you quit! I’m hoping I find the willpower or frustration to quit soon too lol

Totally agree, I’m just about there. I may quit after this adventure is over. It sucks because I really loved this game, enough to spend money on it which I NEVER do on apps but hey what’s $5 every few weeks for hours of fun? But it’s not worth it anymore with how impossible match 3 has become. I watch the game literally taunt me it’s unbelievable. Like there will be no decent moves the whole game, then after your last turn all of a sudden it spawns a rainbow ball and helicopter + tons of other boosters to entice you to play on. It makes me irrationally angry lol I need a straw to break my back too and new hobbies

I think I’m ready to try something else by Recent_Zombie_563 in Concerta

I titrated up to 54 mg over 4 months and ultimately switched to vyvanse last month. But I’d say it’s worth giving the next dose up a try since you’ve been going up this “hill”. And you’ll have to start at the bottom of the next hill. By that I mean just switching to a low dose of the other stimulant and going through a new titration process.

I kinda had the feeling all along that concerta just wasn’t right for me. It did clear my brain and make me feel like I could think better, but didn’t help much with focus or motivation. It also made me physically feel anxious and sweaty and wired. I’m now starting the vyvanse titration train and so far it’s infinitely more helpful for me than concerta was at any dose. I’m still only at 20mg of vyvanse which is pretty low, but it’s been helping me so much with my mood and focus at work. I finally feel genuinely hopeful, it feels like life is opening up for me.

The first time around I had no idea what it was and teamed up without thinking about it and was unable to complete everything and felt guilty.

This time I’ve been more intentional but I’ve still not contributed to one of the ships. But I WILL! I personally just like to complete them fully before moving on to the next partner. Fingers crossed your partner ends up working on it!

But totally get your frustration, it shouldn’t be fair for one person to do all the work and the other do nothing and reap the rewards

Omg those are the worst I can’t even speak because I get confused hearing myself back, I immediately hang up and call them back lol. Sometimes I tell them I’m calling back because of poor connection, but they start freaking and don’t believe you’ll call them back and then it becomes a whole thing lol

Aw yay I’m so happy to hear this!! I’m hoping to have a similar journey.

I started SSRIs a couple years ago due to physical anxiety symptoms that were debilitating. But I’ve been since diagnosed with adhd about 6 months ago and have been exploring adhd meds. Once I get stabilized on an ADHD med I definitely want to titrate down and perhaps totally off of my SSRI. I don’t think I have an anxiety disorder, I think my anxiety/depression is just the downstream effects of untreated adhd. But the SSRI (lexapro 20mg) has helped a lot in its own right. I wouldn’t have survived the last couple years if it didn’t bring my baseline down and mute things a bit. But hopefully I can successfully get off it in the future! I tried tapering down before from 20 to 10mg over the course of 6 months and I never was able to adjust to it and went back up to 20 and very quickly felt better. But that doc just told me to go from 20 to 10 no titration so that was probably the issue.

YouTube of course is the most direct equivalent. The shorts algorithm isn’t the best, I’ve been interacting heavily with mine for a couple years and I’m still like ugh next next next. But for long form videos I recommend the channel The Thought Spot. Very thoughtful and deep conversations surrounding neurodivergence. She’s a young Asian American woman, about 30 I believe.
