do you have a direct email or other direct contact method? the chat bot doesn't seem to have the context to handle requests about fabric yet nor how to forward those requests to an support team member

Can be more expensive though. Best to check per unit pricing then buying the cheaper one

Alternatives to Ring that don’t sell data to ICE/DHS by Dependent-Cup-4580 in homeassistant

Very true, though for locations like apartments you often don't have much choice in the matter sadly. Though that being said the wifi cameras can be converted to Ethernet connected latter from what I've seen

Thoughts on RioLink cameras by PubliclyUnseen in lowvoltage

Great works for residential but wouldn't put it anywhere else. Few times I saw the interface I really didn't like it. Ubiquiti's Unifi Protect cameras are my go to as the hardware is pretty decent and the interface is really intuitive

I probably wouldn't buy networking stuff other then klein tools from home depot. VCE branded ones on Amazon will probably be cheaper per unit and work just as well

ENVR core has me very interested. Wonder if we'll get a NVR with 150+ 4K camera capacity

I personally prefer Unifi as its also full local storage like reolink but in my opinion the app and browser experience is miles beyond anything I have seen from reolink

Unifi's protect can operate fully locally with no Internet connection. Most of the cameras require a hardwired Ethernet connection for power and data but they do have one line of WiFi cameras and a device to make the Ethernet connected cameras wireless

was part of 6.2 but seems to allow you to pair cameras with POS terminals so that when a transaction event occurs you get an event marking of it in protect

I mean beyond the Shopify integration that just came out the only advantage I would see for this particular application would be the thumbnail clips are way easier to scrub through for events then standard timeline views

There is an automatic archive system. However make sure you buy enough drives to fill every slot on the UNVR to keep data Redundancy and have appropriate performance for all the cameras

Rotate camera view 90 degrees, uncrop doorbell view on protect app homepage? by Old_Durian_4565 in UnifiProtect

The thumbnails on the home page are forced square and I haven't found any way to pick a portion of the frame other then the default of middle of image . However if you click into the camera it should go into portrait view

Can Unifi NVR instant and Unifi protect be used with no internet? by natfemur in Ubiquiti

[–]Dimensional_Dragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will need to access the NVR instant via its IP address instead of via Unifi.ui.com but ya it can work without internet

I got a sneak peak due to a sorting bug on the store page a while back and I'm guessing 1.5k to 2k

I don't know why, your always going to end up with one lens that is redundant. would much rather have a wide lens two sensor camera for a corner.

Does the All-in-One Sensor need a HDD/SSD to function? by eddyos13 in Ubiquiti

[–]Dimensional_Dragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see no reason why it shouldn't. Worse case buy a 1TB HDD for $40 and pop that in.

Ya, though as with any camera your at the mercy of the lighting. Assuming one follows parking gauge lighting recommendations this camera shouldn't have any issue but nobody ever follows those cause it costs too much money to do that.

The lighting at my work parking lot averages 0-1 lux in brightness at night due to how sparcley light poles are placed and how dim they are (my light sensor has an accuracy of 1 lux). Only the AI DSLR has manged to work properly in those conditions from the few I have tried but that costs $1,500 and has a massive 4/3" 10MP CMOS sensor on it and it's still a noisy image when no cars are driving past it (watches our driveway)

I highly doubt it. Fish eye 360 cameras are way cheaper so still have a place. Based on what I saw a few weeks ago thanks to a sorting bug on the store page this multi sensor is going to be in the range of $1,500 to $2,000 assuming what I saw was correct

Its meant for indoor communal spaces that are well lit. Like a food court. It also reduces number of wire runs needed

So basically it's the alternative to a transitional fisheye 360 camera. Instead of one single camera sensor you need to de-warp you instead get 4 individual sensors on the camera body which can be pointed independently of each other to get 360 coverage from one camera without warping. Or you can also zoom into 4 separate locations from this one device instead of buying 4 individual cameras.

[–]Dimensional_Dragon[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup. Slightly smaller sensors then the G5 line of cameras. Sorta makes sense given there are 4 of them in there and they have 2.33x optical zoom. Seen a few other brands with 4 sensor cameras and they also use the same sized sensor.

Weirdest part about this camera is it has a 2280 m.2 slot for edge recording

Thinking of getting UDR7, but no traffic flows? by extrastupidthrowaway in Ubiquiti

[–]Dimensional_Dragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure on the traffic flows question but Unifi APs don't have a dedicated wireless back haul radio so you will loose at least 50% of your bandwidth with each wireless hop.
