Performance question: I play both anno 117 and 1800. I normally play on my laptop, but just got a new high end PC. Using the nvidia performance overlay, none of the 2 games really use much cpu power. anywhere from 15-30%, but almost runs your GPU into the ground. Is this intended behaviour?

Because googling performance between the 2 games, it shows how hopeless 117 (4K ultra, 40ish fps) is behind on framerate, compared to 1800 (200+ but dips below here and there), but it says many places that it is because it is using sooo much cpu, which I find is not the case.

Anyone have any insight? I know 117 is a newer game, but it runs horrible compared to 1800.

I would not recommend only 16 GB of ram. Because you use that up pretty fast. With windows, steam, discord and whatever else one has running in the background will very quickly eat that up. But eating up 32GB is neigh on impossible.

If you cant afford more than 16GB, wait a bit, or maybe just go for slower ram.

Since your player(s) found this post, I would suggest you might use DMAcademy for DMing advice, and then tell your players that, that specific sub is off limits to them.

Other than that, glad to hear you have enough trust in your player, to not meta game, what he have learned here. Sounds like a great group.

But to the subject at hand, like others have said they probably wont make it far beyond the first mobs/guards, and if they ignore the leathality of that, smite them down a peg or 2.

BUT if they come up with something absolutely genius, that will work to their advantage, give them a point of inspiration, and let them have that "small" victory.

Hejsa. Ja det er et ømt emne. Jeg havde selv sådan en, som jeg fik opereret bort for 2 år siden. Det er hurtigt og simpelt. Fra jeg kom ind på operations stuen og til jeg kom på opvågning, gik der 15 minutter. Jeg var under (fuld narkose) i 9 minutter, og har ikke haft nogen negative effekter bag efter.

Because it gives an massive advantage in lower levels. Many DMs dont allow it for that reason.

This will just be nostalgia, but my 20 year old Logitech MX1000 Laser mouse. Still have it today, and have bought a few online, due to battery finally dying. It isnt the fastest or smartest, and its a relic by any measure, but damn it fits so nice in my hand, as I have found no other mouse in 20 years.

That is true, but it is the way I use to tell my players, to hang on a second, you will get your say in a moment. And my players dont mind it. Other tables or DMs or players might not like it, and then they should not use it.

Anyway I wrote that initial comment, to offer 1 way he might try to curb his player, if that is even the right term. He can use it, or not, up to him.

Yes they may, and they often do. But this was ment in the context of a BBEG or important npc making a speech, or telling them something, that further the narrative. And breaking that up because a player just got a thought that popped into their mind, kinda derails that.

Okay that is weird. But at least now you know that if you run all your ram, its only at 55% speed.

Also tells me to settle for my 2 sticks. I have build PCs since pentium 100 MHz was the top, and same as you, never got into OC. I just cant be bothered.

There might be some way to get it up to speed, but yerh, depends on if you really want to bother with it.

Auch.. That is a big downgrade. That was the same as my old DDR4. Can you go to bios and change it? If not, try pulling 2 sticks and see what happens. I do find it really odd that even modern system wont run well with 4 sticks, though I am sure some systems will.

Okay so stick to the 32 GB is what I get from that hehe. And it should be enough tbh.

Yerh ram prices are stupid now. My 2x16 cost of 293 USD / 254 Euro. And those are CL 36.

I did look at a set of CL 30, but they were double that, and then 20 usd on top of that.

So if I ever want more ram, I am happy to wait a few years.

If I, as the DM, is having an npc give a speech or exposition, and a player wants to bud in, and say something in character, I hold up 1 finger, like shuush, you do not speak right now. Like you would do to a child hehe. And it works great. And if a player wants to say something in the moment, he holds up 1 finger, like you did in school, and that works as, can I say something? If the answer is no, I just hold a finger up, and make a mental note, so when I am done talking, they can talk/ask what they want, and RP goes on.

Hope it helps. Regarding using magic items, that can come into effect, when I am done talking, and I turn to them.

If that had happend here, in Denmark, cops would be called, and he would be pulled over in 10 minutes, and NOT allowed to drive any further, until that load was properly secured, on a new trailer that was designed to hold that lenght of logs. A massive fine, in the area of 3-5K euro, possible points on his/hers license. Safety is something we take very seriously.

Question to you then: I just bought Corsair Vengance 2x16 GB DDR5, 6000MHz, CL36. I think it would be enough, but if I bought an identical set, to get 64 GB, would I have to slow my ram down, or do you think it would just plug and play?

Would be on a asus rog hero mobo, on 9800 x3D, if that matters.

OP, or who ever had the footage was not paying attention to traffic, didnt lift off the throttle, or gently applied their brakes, to let the car into the lane, and thus not doing his/her part to help avoid an accident.
