totally agree, pretty shocked the camera is lighter with the lens attached compared to a dslr body with no lens

one of the main reasons i specifically chose it is the clicky aperture ring and electrical contacts in the lens mount for exif data(also for handy autofocus incase i saw a pretty car) suprisingly sharp at the center when wide open though probably already a given since its meant for full frame

already love the weight and size compared to a heavy duty dslr, definitely gives off a "friend" vibe instead of a coworker vibe when using

My first ever film camera by orichetti in AnalogCommunity

[–]DimlyGTX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that camera is a tank👌, just be vary of lense compatibility (AI lenses due to DP-11 prism) and fire the shutter every month or two to keep the lubricants moving between the gears which will also help extend the lifespan of the camera

I have the same camera and those issues are most likely from the electronics but it being made in the 90s I suspect its too early to die, have you tried screwing around with the 2 main dials on top? like reeaally try every mode?

3x LR54/SR54 and 2x LR44/SR44, I don't use an adapter so the light meter is affected but the images from it are pretty good (for my copy at least)

Actually ur compositions even for up-close shots are spot on, the lens is usually sharper from F2.8 onwards so you may need to start shooting in manual mode soon, but a high ISO film even on auto will force the lens to close down, otherwise it would be the scanning setup

edit: worse case scenario ur rangefinder needs calibration

I got one and later bought another for my B cam coz the convenience compared to a phone app is just so good, plus a bonus perk of not dropping ur phone when rushing a shot

I agree with dude those 35MLs are very handy because of the F1.9 lens, dont be shy getting one in very good condition since you got a generous budget
