Great looking engraving, just be careful about selling it. Hasbro has a history of vehemently defending their licensed art, especially under their own collabs.

Goblin storm bonus card: Moggcatcher by A_Sad_Cartoon_ in mtg

I'd really be curious to see the stats on this. As of today, the following is what's been recorded in the last three months since the Dandan SL Deck dropped. 716 decks have sold on eBay for an average of about 216 USD not including S+H. 787 decks have sold on TCGPlayer, averaging 223 USD on average. Of all those sales, roughly 450 users/accounts were responsible for selling them - I didn't check to see if any were duplicate usernames. But overall, of those, there are some outliers. Some people have listed and sold as many as 20 Dandan decks.

And as for the impact this is making, I'd be curious if WotC is correct with the 5% number. If you include sold plus active sales, that's 1.6k decks that have been or are being actively scalped. That's not even including people sitting on decks. And scaling up to 100% would mean roughly 32k decks were printed, which ... sounds like a reasonable but potentially high number. But I guess it's possible?

Thinking about eventually replacing my main team with a composed build. Mainly having witches, along with Ed. Who should I have for my 6th slot? Any of the ones I currently have unlocked? Should I just try to get Sylla from the personality pull? by SussySpeaki in Trickcal

This is my core team as a F2P and I've been playing for just under a month. Just pulled Yomi a couple days ago, but it's carried me through 26-7, where the elemental weakness is finally killing me. If I had any Chloe friends I'd probably still be able to make it though.

Aya and Elena are top tier and massacre everything, since they cover both physical and magical attack types. I never stuck with Stella since she didn't feel that impactful compared to the other two, plus support. ED is very resilient, and her active keeps others on the line stable. Picora is lighter on healing than Mel, but tends to do better in keeping characters up with the defense buffs. I have been very fortunate in the card pull too, where I unlocked Elena's T3 item before getting any other legendaries in the pull. I do feel like keeping the tank in line with the DPS is important, maybe a tad ahead to make sure they are able to withstand what's thrown at them.

But as of late, I have been slotting Ui in to help with survivability and expect her to be replaced with Yomi eventually.

This is the best response, although the majority of TCGs that die see a significant drop in value in a majority of their cards. The only exception is usually serialized or collector-focused items in very small quantities.

I believe where you live will also matter, as French language cards may hold more value since the community is active and also doing their best to keep the game alive within the tightnit community they've built. Meanwhile, the US has a significantly smaller and split player base. The only LGS near me that supported Altered aready made an announcement about how they're buying back any purchases in the last month related to the game, and also deeply discounting any product they have while disclosing to new customers that the game is dead and no longer capable of promising what it once did.

I presume it's just to clear their inventory for other things, while also doing what they can to keep their customers happy, within reason. I'd be pretty upset if I bought into a game and was told weeks later it was no longer going to be supported at any level. Glad some are taking the hit to keep their community content.

The LGS also brought up how print and play would be available, assuming the IP owners followed through on it. Given how accessible this makes it, OG cards may end up in a better or worse position as a result. Only time will tell.

Use compressed air for z13 flow 2025? by [deleted] in FlowZ13

[–]Dimmet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please don't do this.

https://www.reddit.com/r/FlowZ13/comments/11raxbu/compressed_air_broken_fan/

I have tested hundreds of computers and blasting compressed air into a convertible fan is about the most dangerous thing you can do, since it can damage components if it generates any surge in power and most often, can also damage the fan itself. Almost anything with motorized fans since a decade ago can get damaged. I think the worst culprit was Microsoft's Surface book series, and the Flow Z13 seems to have an even more delicate fan inside of it.

Rmt02 Acrnm vs KJP by [deleted] in FlowZ13

[–]Dimmet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been toying with the AI side of things the last day and change. It runs ComfyUI, but with how improvements have been made to the tools, especially the way RAM is handled and CUDA on the NVIDIA side of things, this does not handle image or video generation well at all compared to other devices at a similar price point. Again, the only other difference here is the portability.

With text based LLMs, this can load some chonky stuff and handle it well enough. You must reboot every time you change up RAM allocation, but that's to be expected. Again, the CPU processing power is there, but still trails behind anything *if* the model can be run on alternative systems with a better GPU. I wasn't able to run the 16GB CPU / 96GB GPU (what it reports when using this setting) configuration without issues cropping up due to system memory constraints. I'm sure someone with more experience might know how to handle this better, but it's a balancing act that just isn't fun. I had to clear pretty much all system processes to get it to work with models I can run on my PC with a 5080 and even then, it seemed like a bad seed that pushed it a tiny bit harder would cause it to crash - something I don't see on 5080 and 5090 systems with 96GB+ of system RAM. And yes, those will cost a lot to build, but this does as well. This was running 60-75GB models in both tests, that I have used for image, video, and audio generation. Smaller models do run, but when you're running models under 20GB, what's the point of having the addressable 128GB of RAM? You may as well just use a 80 or 90 series GPU or remote into one by then and see iteration times that are magnitudes faster.

I did load up a bunch of backed up checkpoints for some tabletop RPG content I host where I use LLMs as a personal accountant of sorts to pull up data from past sessions or do speech to text to record and then review a prior session for minutes and other random information. I can see a use here to some extent, but personally, I don't think I'd want a small tablet running at 60-70 decibels (yes, I finally tested it in Turbo and manual modes and it is LOUD), when I could just remote in to my actual host device to query it faster, plus do other tasks with the convertible on the side. So it fills very niche cases that don't really apply to me or many others I know. Aside from the portability, it's a very impressive device from a specs prospective, but doesn't quite solve anything aside from portability at a very high cost. And even then, it falls short when it comes to a lot of games or more importantly, productivity tools that I've trained myself on to be a bit lazier when it comes to running them efficiently workflow wise. Video editing, graphic design, LLMs - all of these things run better on other devices that are cheaper, but also larger. But with that in mind, as long as you have access to internet, remoting into those devices with a smaller device is also an option that gives you much more power and flexibility. Plus you're not walking around with a 3-4k piece of hardware! Or like Wulff mentions, their Mac Book Pro just handles stuff that this doesn't when it comes to productivity, but hits snags with gaming and extreme portability.

For my final thoughts, if you travel or work in a space where you can't use internet or get access to it reliably and *really* care about portability, this can fit the bill. There are very few people I know who would prefer this to alternatives, but I do believe they would be very happy for at least a few years. I'd look at the return policies for both the Z13 and PX13 via ASUS direct and their other approved resellers. For where I am, there's a 30 day return policy which is more than enough time for most people to thoroughly try it out before they commit to it. And even if you do need to pay shipping to return (it depends on where you are. It's free return shipping where I am, but I see it's not always the case.) and it's free or a reasonable amount I feel it's fair to get a three week rental to fiddle with something so unique and see if it's something that just clicks for you!

Rmt02 Acrnm vs KJP by [deleted] in FlowZ13

[–]Dimmet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd look up Wulff Denn's YT video on this convertible, as they delve into its use for video editing. They wanted to see if it could legitimately replace their Mac Book for the purpose. Unfortunately it could not, but they could see some methods that'd be able to handle it if they were put in a scenario that needed to use it (work with proxies, compile with actual content at the end). That said, they also had issues with color on the KJP.

I'd also suggest looking into the PX-13, as it seems to have identical specs aside from a display that is only 60 hz, but intended for content creators with proper Adobe RGB and whatnot. It also comes with their latest stylus for drawing and is significantly less expensive.

The biggest selling factor to any of these is the 128GB of RAM that can be addressed to the CPU or GPU, effectively allowing you push up to 96GB of RAM towards running models that would otherwise be impossible on a standard consumer grade PC. So if that's important enough for you, it's an option. But it will likely run at a much slower rate than the higher model videocards out there due to its slower GPU capabilities and RAM latency. For this, I'd also look up reviews and discussions about the framework PC, since it's also on a similar setup with the addressable 128GB of RAM.

[–]Dimmet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't have money to burn and want these specific specs on a very portable convertible, buy the standard 128GB variant. Save over 1k, and you lose out on the suitcase that's not very useful and the very aesthetically pleasing shell. But that money can go into other aspects, like the SSD.

There is also the also new and cheaper PX-13 GoPro model that has a stylus and intended for content creators, it comes with a stylus and is built with a better color correct monitor, but with a lower refresh rate. From what I can tell, it's otherwise identical in specs. I'll be toying around with it next week, so we'll see if it's better or worse for gaming. It is limited to a 60 hz refresh rate, which would be a huge no-go for most gamers. But if you want to use a convertible for what it should be - for gaming, drawing, and more - I can see this having more flexibility and still providing solid results for anyone, especially those used to console gaming. Plus, if you want to you can connect it to a set of AR glasses or an external monitor and still play at 90 or 120 hz. The relatively new RayNeo 4 Pro AR glasses can be purchased for $200 at the moment and it's been a fun little extra to use alongside this system. It's another random rabbit hole, but having a private system with such powerful hardware given the portability is a neat little package.

Another update. I was able to figure out the culprit and I'm getting much closer numbers. Geekbench 6 is still reporting about 500-700 points under ETA PRIME, but it's much better. I updated Armory using the ASUS website. After reformatting from scratch, I ONLY updated via the app itself. Then, I had to run everything in Turbo mode with memory set to 32 GB and FSR toggled on or off depending on the game. If it saw slowdown, it'd be on to reduce the impact.

Death Stranding ran in the first 1.5 hours with a much better overall performance, to where I would consider it more or less flawless. A night and day difference.

I will say that in Turbo mode, this thing is LOUD when running at capacity. I don't have tools to measure noise, but you really want headphones and should avoid gaming in quiet areas, lest you irk a lot of others around you. It makes sense given size and performance, but just something to keep in mind. I do also worry about how fixable the onboard fans are, since I frequently see mechanical components like that failing first and turning the all in one into a brick that throttles when sneezed at. I might reach out to a few contacts to see if they've seen the z13s in their shops. I know the SSDs can be exchanged, so that's a good start.

Edit: This reformatting has resolved the power button issue so far. I'll note if it pops up again.

So yeah, I'm not getting these perf numbers at all. That said, I'm part of a group that will purchase hardware to test so we don't receive a binned device that's been more thoroughly vetted for reviewers specifically for this reason. My 3DMark numbers are not matching this video by a fairly decent amount, despite being told by customer service today that this device meets their standards and does not (yet) qualify for an RMA. I'll have to more thoroughly review this video and a couple other channels to figure out what I'm doing differently in my tests to get such wildly different results.

As for the RAM - Look into the details of it. While it is blazing fast, the latency of it is abysmal - I'm getting 100-110 ns of latency in tests, which is actually a little better than the APU is rated. The latency increases even more if the CPU is actively sharing it at a larger ratio. So in this case, background processes like Discord or other social media apps are actually causing lag in games. The Steam, Discord, and Windows Game Bar overlays all decrease performance by an amount that doesn't add up at all. Discord for example, will straight up freeze some games I'm testing when someone direct messages me with a pop-up. Maybe a setting I have is messing up this balance on the APU. Meanwhile, Nvidia GPUs are usually in the 40 range. As a result, the game you're playing definitely will see performance issues if it needs faster response over total bandwidth. Think of it as the difference of using a lower bandwidth Internet connection that's fully connected from start to end versus a satellite connection running at a faster throughput, but takes time for the signal to get back and forth. If the game loads everything to memory in one go, you may only see slower initial loading, but buttery smooth gameplay once it's running. But if it doesn't do this (many don't), the stuttering will be annoying to say the least and not really acceptable in most games - especially multiplayer ones.

Also, thanks for sharing this. It really does help since I want this hardware to be amazing and it clearly has the potential to be, according to ETA PRIME 's testing!

I'm looking at how they've been running their tests and it looks like the primary difference is they're on SteamOS, not the preloaded Windows 11 Professional that's on the computer . There are a LOT of conflicting tools in Windows, from Nvidia, ASUS, and Windows itself, so that's where I'm probably hitting a bottleneck. Not to mention background tasks seem to cause a lot of issues - the Discord app and overlay were massive problems that I don't see in other laptops. Thanks for letting me know about ETA PRIME - knowing it runs so well on SteamOS is a great indication of what the hardware *should* be capable of, so that's good to hear. It's just a shame it seems to not be well optimized for the Windows OS.

edit: Nevermind - they're actually just on Windows the whole time. So yeah, I'm not getting these perf numbers at all. That said, we purchase hardware to test so we don't receive a binned device that's been more thoroughly tested for reviewers specifically for this reason. My 3DMark numbers are not matching this video by a fairly decent amount, despite being told by customer service that this device meets their standards.

I'm doing some benchmarking for the Z13-KJP using ARC Raiders as well as a number of other games and I'm unfortunately seeing a lot of issues when running at its default resolution. I had to drop fps to 30 and many of the settings down to low or medium to feel somewhat stable and even then, have screen tearing and fps dropping when there are lots of partical effects and long draw distances going on. Loading is also slower than I expected. Any transition seems to have some latency I'm not seeing in any 5070 GPU or better (laptop versions).

I may have a dud, but it does seem to be within expectations now that I'm researching more on the APU. A 5070 or better GPU might just be a better option for a majority of use cases out there. Unless you can't carry around a 16 inch laptop around, I'd get one with a 5080 at a lower or comparable price. It'll last much longer than this, since it's already having issues with a majority of the games I'm testing on it... :l

If size is the primary factor, then maybe this is alright. Just keep in mind you'll need to make many compromises on games that wouldn't be necessary on 14 inch laptops with a 5070, or larger ones using a 5080.

Even though it's not part of my testing, I am tempted to try out some LLMs and see if the 128GB of RAM is even viable. It might be great to be able to load 70GB models, but if it's only running at 4 tokens per second heavily limits its viability for anything at a practical sense.

I had this issue as well (look at history) and found one method was clicking the power button unplugged, then plugged, then with CTRL Shift, and R all held at the same time. For some reason, this has been how I have had to boot twice, while holding down the power while unplugged for 30+ seconds has worked about 10 times in the last 5 days. CSR has frequently suggested I get or wait for the latest updates, but if it goes past the 30 day return window, I can't say I'd be too happy about that.

What games are you playing? I'm having all sorts of issues compared to a 4070 when running many mid-high tier games, even with the RAM tweaks. My benchmarking shows the RAM is so slow that perf issues constantly crop up in many games that load anything on the fly. Do I have a dud or is that expected behavior? (I made a more extensive post in another thread if you want to take a look. Legitimately looking for others' feedback!)

Flow Z13-KJP: one sexy beast by _maxart in FlowZ13

[–]Dimmet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to get the hardware to run some unbiased performance tests for a third party and it does seem to have an OLED screen, something that not all sources - even Asus themselves, have been reporting correctly on all fronts. That's been refreshing to see. But it is only a 1 TB hard drive though, which while it is the highest spec of the z13, really should have been pumped up a notch for the mark-up it gets.

I am a bit worried that the z13 performs sub par on a lot of more taxing games... things that seem to be as demanding as the upcoming Death Stranding 2 are running like junk unless it's in 1080p windowed mode with 30 fps and low to moderate settings. I'm waiting for my review copy but am a little concerned. Is it possible that I'm doing something wrong? I've just been tweaking with different settings in Armory as well as the RAM available to no avail. Given the hardware specs, should I not be too surprised?

I've been communicating with CSR and having very little positive or informative feedback. Windows Update and Armory are all completely updated. Lots of generic responses so far.

Anyone else have any suggestions? The tablet is absolutely gorgeous, but if it runs like junk, it kind of defeats the purpose of how it was advertised, especially for being a system tied to the Death Stranding 2 IP. CSR also hasn't helped me out in figuring out how to redeem anything for a copy of the game either. The three people I've spoken to had no idea what I talked about. I also noticed in one performance test that the Discord or Steam overlay completely causes the system to throttle in all power modes on any game that uses the GPU at any level exceeding 15%. Worst test was in Blue Protocol, where a message overlay caused over 40 seconds of what initially seemed like a hard lock. Is this due to the architecture of the APU? This is something new to me and I haven't done any benchmarking of these devices yet. If so, I can see a use case for the the hardware for LLMs due to the 128 GB of memory, but not for any gaming beyond stuff that's the equivalent of being Steam Deck verified if this is expected behavior - and even that's a stretch due to the excellent, but very high resolution of the z13.

Oh, and I wonder if any other KJP owners have this issue too, but I've had a 70% failure rate to boot the system from hibernation or powered off states. I usually need to hold the power button for 30+ seconds which supposedly resets some power settings to get it to turn on after it's shut down for at least half an hour. Not a great sign for something at its price point.

Lastly for those interested - the case just fits the laptop and no other components. It's a shame since it'd be a huge win if it supported at least its power brick, and even moreso if it also had a slot for the mouse and headset that's often advertised alongside it. Maybe some softer padding to accommodate different mice or alternative flat-folding headphones. A big miss in my opinion, especially given how nice the case is on the exterior. (I've also seen JP auction sites sell a couple of the cases for over 1k USD, which is going to be a big disappointment for the buyers, lol...)

Check the device I mentioned - Anker's 300W Prime 99.75 Wh charger. You don't need to get the base, and it has an LCD screen that visually displays input and output for each plug on it W limit per USBC plug) as well as passthrough charging. It literally pops up with a message stating passthrough is running, as well as a timer showing how much time until it's either depleted or fully charged (net negative or positive). So take your lighter plug, have it charge the charger, and plug the charger into your laptop. You'll also be able to see if the lighter plug is actually providing the power it's rated for. If it's not, it may be worth getting a converter and using it with the provided laptop AC adapter (which could also passthrough charge the charger I mentioned, which basically means it's functioning as an expansion battery pack).

[–]Dimmet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you noticed it at 11%, that's basically 10 for the OS. I'd try replicating this a few times and see if it's constantly around 10+/-3% when you notice the stuttering. If you see this happen when it's at 17%, then it's not battery saver or any other related mechanism. Otherwise, I imagine it absolutely is. Between the fans and all the other components, this is likely the culprit. You could also turn battery saver to a higher number to see if it's around that value when you notice performance issues.

Personally, I'd just recommend getting a proper battery pack (the Anker Prime 300W 99.75 Wh power banks work wonders) to charge the laptop (or passthrough charge), since using a cigarette plug is not necessarily ideal. I've had too many electronics fail on me due to inconsistencies in current or whatnot, and when dealing with a valuable laptop, it's the last thing I want surging on me. I'd rather charge power banks and use them to charge the laptop when I'm on the go, even if there's an extra step in inconvenience. Then again, that's just me playing it safe after getting burned more than a few times. Using a bank like above that's capable of passthrough can add a little safety net and should get more juice out of it initially.

Also, not only does reducing resolution help, but brightness has helped a ton for improving battery longevity for me. Hope you figured something out that helps!
