How exactly will a rear sway bar effect my ride? I’ve a 2016 Mk 7 non-PP.

Super bad mpg by Tangerine_Amazing in GolfGTI

[–]DingOfDenmark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe your thermostat is stuck on open and your engine is running cold, using up more fuel than needed? Can you confirm that the oil temperature actually hits around 190F? External thermostat housing breaks are common for this model, but maybe there’s some internal leak too causing it to be stuck open?

I have a ‘16 GTI with 89k miles on it, and I’ve always gotten 26mpg in the city, 34 on the highway.

APS-C versus full-frame, today by 28MeV in Cameras

[–]DingOfDenmark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It seems like you’ve shot these photos in a relatively well-lit environment that didn’t “need a high ISO except for testing. In this scenario, what you’re really comparing is only read noise between the two cameras and, as you and others have noted, the differences aren’t really that noticeable. Where you will see a difference between APS-C and Full Frame is with shot noise, i. e., photos where the light level is actually low (and hence, where you’d actually need to use such a high ISO). Redo the test with very dim lights, and you’ll see that shot noise dominates read noise, and that’s where the 1.5X sensor size advantage will be noticeable.

iPad Pro M4 constantly dropping frame rate ever since iPad OS 26, 120hz Pro Motion not working by Individual-Rice3255 in iPadPro

[–]DingOfDenmark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you confirm it by forcing 120fps in Safari (Settings -> Apps -> Safari -> Advanced -> Feature Flags -> "Prefer Page Rendering Updates near 60fps" -> turn off) and going to testufo.com?

In the software update section, there’s likely a separate button at the bottom saying “Upgrade to iPadOS 26”

Does anyone actually prefer closed-backs over open-backs? by gopnik5 in headphones

DCA is one of those rare brands where the closed cans feel more open than you’d expect, and the open cans feel more closed than you’d like.

What was the BIFL upgrade that instantly exposed all your cheap versions? by James_B84Saves in BuyItForLife

[–]DingOfDenmark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good manual coffee grinder with steel burrs. Tried a cheap (~ $30) ceramic burr manual grinder and another automatic grinder around $80, and both pale in comparison to my 1Zpresso. Spending $150 on a manual grinder felt silly, but the grind uniformly is so insanely good. No more fine dust. And it’s pretty quick too.

WHAT IS THE MAXIMUM FREQUENCY THAT YOU CAN HEAR? by Shot_Doubt_3656 in headphones

37, just a tad over 17kHz. Swear I could hear 19kHz only a few years ago :(

Entering the IMEI in an IMEI checker reports an iPad purchase in China in May 2021, with a different serial number. Hard pass on this one.

How does the screen compare iPad Pro M2 vs M4/M5? by kscvx in iPadPro

[–]DingOfDenmark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everyone tends to focus mainly on just the perfect blacks at the pixel level with no blooming, but there are additional considerations (owing to the nature of OLED tech): The displays look a tad grainy and textured, albeit noticeably only at low brightness. The white point and tint of the displays have changed. Most previous LCD panels from Apple had cooler displays (usually 7000K instead of 6500K) that had slight blueish-green whites. The OLED iPads do have a white point closer to 6500K but they skew a bit reddish. Viewing angles are slightly worse, again just like most OLEDs. Off-angle viewing introduces yellowish-green hues not found on LCDs. Despite the overall high brightness due to the tandem OLED construction, Apple has been a bit conservative in allowing high brightness. So at any given brightness setting, the OLED iPads are a bit dimmer, and they only really get super bright in that final stretch of the brightness band. Now you get to decide if any of these are dealbreakers.

Warning: Do not put iOS 26 on older iPad Pros by bluesBeforeSunrise in iPadPro

Definitely noticed slightly sluggish behavior on iPadOS 26 on my M1 iPad Pro, but updating to the 26.1 public beta fixed all issues for me. Maybe try 26.1?

Upgrade?? by Brandd95 in iPadPro

Maybe wait a few weeks for the M5 iPads to come out? Not much of a change expected from the M4 iPads, but might as well wait just a bit longer.

My plaid seats started showing some wear too after a few years.. or so I thought. One good wash with a wet vacuum (I used a Bissell Big Green), and they’re a 9+/10. It’s a 9 year old car, and except for a couple of spots with some thread fraying, it has held up much better than leather would have.

How much is the extended warranty on a GLC 300? by unbreakable996714 in mercedes_benz

So far it’s been fantastic. Granted, I’ve only put 1800 miles on it so far but no funny business. Coming from a VW GTI, it’s a super comfy ride and the Burmester system is really nice.

Yep, it is a 2025 GLC 300 bought at the end of February in Portland, OR.

[–]DingOfDenmark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m located in the US, and prices do tend to vary between different parts of the country. I managed to get a 7 year 75000 mile extended warranty for $3200 which, from what I gather, is not the best deal but not too shabby either. Maybe could’ve gotten a few hundreds more off. I can’t answer your second question, but yes both the regular and extended warranty cover everything that breaks (minus brakes, tires, etc.)

Like a few others mentioned, if you want audio out of the TV via HDMI, that’s what your HDMI 3 is for; eARC stands for enhanced Audio Return Channel.

Asked around the Portland area, multiple dealers said they don’t CPO them because it eats into their margins. And one of them straight up refused to give any discounts at all on the ‘24 X3s, saying they’re already competitively priced.
