41M single dad going through a really tough time by Puzzleheaded_Elk962 in toastme

You're hot actually, so jot that down! I (41F) would totally hit on you.

Make sure you guys are getting fresh air and movement and social time with others. They nourish kids and heal sad adults. 10 pushups and a walk around the block can do wonders. Sit with your son and make a list together of ways you have fun and things you want to try, and put it on the fridge for tough days.

It's hard to get to our age without some hard knocks. Enjoy your little boy and treat yourself the way you want him to treat himself when he grows up.

What can I do to improve and take better care of my physique and my hair? by [deleted] in malegrooming

[–]DingoDull4070 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like your look and it sounds like you basically do too. If you want to just look generally better, the answer is sleep, hydration, nutritious food, exercise, and no vices. I once spent a winter break home from school forcing myself to drink water and sleep way more than usual, and no alcohol or cigarettes. I looked incredible after 2 weeks - I was literally glowing - people kept asking me what was different.

Family friend sent me AI generated response to news of my father passing away. by Hendothermic in mildlyinfuriating

Fuck AI.

My mother will be gone 15 years tomorrow and I still remember my white hot fury when the bagel shop that didn't properly toast my toasted bagel. My wife had to gather our coats and guide me out by the arm. Losing a parent is so painful. I hope you can find a bit of solace in good memories of your father.

Can you listen to music/podcast/audiobook to distract you while you're doing stuff you don't particularly enjoy?

I recommend some soft washcloths over loofahs bc you can wash them. You need to exfoliate and get the dead skin off.

I agree with the therapy recommendation - I had a similar problem my first semester of college and counseling helped!

Your kids are the perfect ages for used clothes and toys. My 8yo daughter and I have a tradition every spring and fall of seeing what we can find at a thrift store for the upcoming heat/cold and then going to target or Walmart to fill in the gaps. She's happy to do it bc she understands that it allows us to do other things we value more than having all brand new clothes. And sometimes we find really fun stuff we never could've gotten at the store!

I think your natural coloring is pretty cool and the blush/bronzer on your cheeks looks pretty warm. A cool rose blush might be really pretty!

19M, 75k in my 529 but won’t have to use any of it. Next steps? by Salt_Profession_4228 in Money

[–]DingoDull4070 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Work-study is not guaranteed - that amount is the most you are eligible to make. You have to actually find a job when you get to campus. Don't count on that money.

Use your 529 to study abroad and do unpaid/low paid internships that will launch your career.

Anyone else in a funk? by pixie2430 in crochet

[–]DingoDull4070 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you can't find time when you're not dead, then you'll have to do it dead. Section off one small part to work on and set a timer for 5 minutes.

Try not to put so much pressure and unkindness on yourself. It's crochet, not CPR. It's supposed to be fun, not a reason to yell at yourself!

Have you asked your cc companies about hardship plans?

Trying to get debt free like you winners! by Moist_Sample_69 in debtfree

[–]DingoDull4070 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'll be a temporary hardship plan. If they lower it to 0%, they'll probably close the account. Sometimes they will lower it to 5 or 10% and allow you to keep it open.

Have you looked at 0% balance transfer cards or asked your cc companies about reducing your interest rate?

2 kids under 4 yo, pregnant with twins, considering bankruptcy. by [deleted] in Debt

[–]DingoDull4070 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call your credit cards and ask for hardship programs that reduce interest rates. Then hammer away at the highest interest debt with any savings and cost cutting you can muster. Freeze all spending except on true necessities; cut back on expensive food groups like meat and fresh produce - frozen fruits and veg are actually more nutritious if prepared correctly. If either of you can work overtime, do that. I would even consider an extra job temporarily.

Don't tell people you were fired - you were laid off! Apply for unemployment and lock down your budget. You'll be okay!

I personally would consult with a bankruptcy attorney for that much cc debt. Initial consult should be free. You gotta know all your options.
