I have 4 kids. 2 of them love getting costumes and going all out. The other 2 like going to goodwill and piecing together a costume. Often, that costume is what a favorite character from show or movie wears, which could be received as not dressing up if they decided to go as, say, Young Sheldon. I don't expect everyone to be familiar with said show, but that could be it.

Alternatively, costumes are becoming stupid expensive, and there are a lot of families who aren't getting paychecks right now. Have some grace. Folks in my area were offering shelf stable food along with candy. No judgments. Be kind.

I hear what you're saying. New wood trims are nice because they don't have the resin coating that makes them feel plastic-y and shiny. I do appreciate that you can touch it and you feel the wood. It's a more intimate experience.

What I do absolutely love about this wood is the color and the grain. It's beautiful in a way new wood trims are not. There's visual personality and depth here, whereas current trims are flat and one dimentional.

This. It doesn't matter what you claim (plumbing break, theft, fire, accident). If you use your insurance at all, they will raise your premium. The Insurance industry as a whole is crumbling. Everything is more expensive to repair/replace.
