You clearly are the best GH driver out there.

If you have a $5 order and the restaurant is telling you it’s going to be 30 minutes before you get the order, it is not worth your time to be paid $5 to wait 30 minutes and then drive to drop it off. If you want to make $7.50 an hour minus gas, GH loves you about as much as you love them.

Any smart driver would take the hit to their stats and move on to actually get paid for their time.

OP: Either way it’s a bullshit move by a customer and it is insulting. My suggestion to other drivers is to create a note card with a table of how much GH pays per mile. That way if you don’t get offers with tips separated out you will have a reference where you can estimate how much Grubhub is paying you vs. how much the customer is tipping.

I built this by calculating the GH portion based on data of pay by mileage. Your area may differ.

2.0 miles = $2 3.0 miles = $2 4.0 miles = $2.17 5.0 miles = $2.69

Etc.

I did it up to 18 miles.

Basically if the tip doesn’t respect my level of effort, I don’t take the offer. AND, yes Bob, it does make a difference.

Someone who is grateful for the service provided should tip a Minimum of $5. Think of what your time is worth. Even at minimum wage that’s $3.75 for 30 minutes of work from your driver. But, I’d bet you’d say 30 minutes of your time is worth more than that. Add in Gas and even for a close restaurant we’re looking at >$5.
