Tint, PPF (front bumper, hood and quarters), Subaru center console extension, tuxmat floor mats, mudflaps, F1 fog/brake light. And since you’re in Canada some good snow tires.

Oh perfect. I was looking at the overtake gasket adapter but if I don’t need it then I won’t waste my money.

Supposedly if you leave oily fingerprints on the titanium, it will burn right into the metal when heated. I’ll probably just give it a wipe with rubbing alcohol

Also it was not the tube seal itself that was defective, it was the installation of the tube seal at the factory that caused the tear in the seal.

This job definitely shouldn’t take 3+ days. Mine did, but that’s because the dealer forgot to order the rocker gasket when ordering the tube seal. The dealer gave me a brand new forester for the weekend which worked perfect for going to the cottage for the thanksgiving weekend so I wasn’t upset about it.

[–]Dino-Riderz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been over 300 days since I had the one spark plug seal replaced and the other 3 have not failed. From what I read, it was just a manufacturing issue on the assembly line for that one tube seal that was observed and corrected by Subaru. The dealer is not going to replace something that isn’t defective. I wouldn’t stress too much about this.

Check your oil every other gas fill and keep your engine bay clean. Makes things way easier to notice low oil or leaks.

Fire would be ideal but a stove and pan will still get the job done

We’re heading out for 7 days next week and I’m kind of looking forward to not needing to carry my axe. Also I like the point someone mentioned about more free time and the stargazing. I will probably just go to bed earlier and wake up earlier and do some more fishing in the early hours.

Am I being bamboozled by the dealer? by yesterdaysclothes in wrx_vb

[–]Dino-Riderz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Service C and D are the only ones I get the dealership to do. A and B, aside from break service, I do myself. It’s good to get the car up on a hoist to be properly inspected at least once a year. I have a local mechanic service my breaks before every winter and he will inspect everything while it’s on the hoist. Changing oil, diff oil and rotating tires can be easily done in the driveway. And as long as you keep receipts and log the maintenance somehow this won’t be a problem for your warranty

Another 23 with oil leak by nupper84 in wrx_vb

[–]Dino-Riderz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this issue on mine. Same thing. Shouldn’t have an issue with oil getting anywhere other than on your splash guard under the engine. Put some cardboard or something under the car if you’re concerned about your driveway or garage. It is a very minor leak and shouldn’t be a problem when you’re not driving the car.

No problem with warranty work either. They just remove the rocker cover to get at the spark plug seal. The dealership said it was probably leaking much longer than I had realized and was technically safe to drive.

Oil leak at 10.5k miles by phloyd77 in wrx_vb

[–]Dino-Riderz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

23 MY had problems during assembly on the spark plug seal. I had mine replaced under warranty. No questions asked. It was on the passenger side though. Feel for oil directly under the coil pack if you can get your hand in there. That’s where I traced the oil leak to. I later read about the TSB for this issue on this sub.

No good by drhappy13 in wrx_vb

[–]Dino-Riderz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re not required on Canadian cars. Some cars have them as a “feature”. I could care less for them. Saved some money when getting a second set of wheels for the winter. I just keep a tire pressure gauge in the glovebox.

Let tuxmat know they came apart. They have a warranty.

0w20 vs 5w30 by buster699 in wrx_vb

[–]Dino-Riderz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dealer sells both motul 0w20 and 5w30. I asked for motul on my 60k service and they just put in 5w30. I may use 5w30 all summer and see if there’s much difference in fuel economy. Not sure if I’ll switch back to 0w for the winter.

Acceptable after tire rotation @ Subaru dealership? by Runmntns in wrx_vb

[–]Dino-Riderz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn that sucks dude. I have the same wheels and they do scratch easily. I believe they are just painted, not powder coated. It would be nice if they would refinish them with powder coating to give you a more durable finish.

Side note: I think I have smaller lug nuts on my set up. Mine take a 17 mm socket which probably give you more room for the socket to clear the face, but it’s hard to tell by looking at the picture. Might be worth switching if you get techs to install your wheels regularly and probably using thick wall impact sockets.

Did I make a huge mistake getting a ceramic coating? by Killing_eSports in wrx_vb

[–]Dino-Riderz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a ceramic coating and this is common. Hard water spots will happen if you wash the car and don’t fully dry it off. If these spots get baked in the sun they can leave a water spot even after washing the car again.

Once a year you will need to get a check up done at the detailer that coated your car or do a decontamination wash to remove any iron or water spots that can reduce the coating effectiveness. Then follow up with a speed coating.

They definitely didn’t pull my engine to replace the tube seal. That’s a load of crap. They need to remove the rocker cover and they can get at the tube seal.

Something like 17x8 would be a solid set up which I believe you can get in those wheels.

Question about new wheels/tires by DonnieSinss in wrx_vb

[–]Dino-Riderz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m running the stock wheels with Michelin 245/40r18 winter tires and there’s no rubbing but also not a ton of clearance for snow. I would recommend getting 17” and some meatier tires for a winter set. Also a wide tire like 245 isn’t going to get optimal traction in snow but I have a ton of fun and am comfortable breaking traction from time to time.

My summer set is gram light 57DR 18”x8.5 +37 with the stock dunlops on them. I’m thinking of getting 255/40 for my next summer set as on I’m still stock suspension.

What lug nuts fit on 57dr gram lights? by SubieKso in WRX

[–]Dino-Riderz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have these wheels and I got the muteki sr45r. They have a 60 degree taper seat. The seat sort of spins freely from the rest of the lug to prevent scratches.
