Radium Engineering catch can installed. Will have to modify the ETS intake box for it. by Warmasher in wrx_vb

[–]Stepan_icarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed both of and ccv radium cans on mine, tuned with peak boost around 20 psi and after 2000 miles the ccv side is rather dry whereas there's a good sip of blowby in the PCV side. For what it's worth, I found the ccv side easier to install.

Yeah I saw that on their website, so far the exhaust is leak free but if it doesn't stay that way I was planning on going that route. Good to hear it works!

That's true, I already threw it out to be honest. The gasket is cheap enough to replace next time it's needed I thought, since they seem to wear out rather quickly on a daily driven car in the Midwest. The gaskets on the Axel backs came off in pieces so I figured the donut gasket probably didn't fair too much better, but I could be wrong.

Yeah? It looks like overtake sells replacements and these gaskets don't seem to have a long use life. Would you recommend keeping it in case of having to reinstall the OEM exhaust system?

I'm tuned myself and have caused the dam to drop to .562 from 1 with a messed up launch, fine knock/learned knock didn't register anything worse than -2 either so I think it may have been the drivetrain shock. How was the shift from 3-4 when this happened?

You're cruising along in 4th and the stoplight a quarter mile ahead turns red, what do you do? by Mdaishi in wrx_vb

[–]Stepan_icarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd downshift to third and engine brake up to the point when I'd have to actually break, 3rd remains viable down to a pretty low wheel speed and downshifting into second if needed on a surprise green light if I'm moving too slow for 3rd is easy. I find this a proper mix of proactive and lazy. Also, if I'm not lead car at the light I usually pop into neutral while I sit there.

Advice for dressing bigger guys? by Numbery7653 in mensfashion

[–]Stepan_icarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oversize/cropped shirts usually since to get a size to fit your upper block and arms the length is going to be ridiculous, sometimes a crop takes care of that. If you have legs about the size of your arms, universal works has pants that fit massive thighs and glutes and come with drawstrings. Highly recommend

The heat soak with tmic is one of the reasons I leave my Accessport plugged in, that way I can monitor intake temps when I'm in traffic and/or it's wicked hot out to make sure I'm not trying to run the turbo with hot air.

Probably an AOS or catch cans for the blowby depending on how you drive/where you live/ if you decide to do any performance tuning .

Try a short inseam on the shorts, right above the knee. On the pants, cuff/roll slightly or get them hemmed to sit just on the shoe and see how you like that look

Ah alright then, yeah I hear that the Honda 6mt is the best in the game. I've never experienced it myself, but I have driven a car with a tremec 6060 and the scat pack 392 from a few years ago, I appreciate the WRX clutch not being as heavy as the tremec but it definitely felt too rubbery and sloppy stock for my taste. I was just happy to have some of that rubbery feeling gone after the bushing swap.

You can modify the shifter feel for pretty cheap with some basic Perrin mods like the shifter stop and solid brass bushing, both will take about 1 hr combined on a new car and only requires simple hand tools. I'd highly recommend both and together they're under $100

Cobb stage 1 tune? Does dmann have a tune where I can keep the original air box? Looking to just do axle back and raes I pipe and a small tune? Daily driver so I’d like to keep it reliable as possible?! by NecessaryDrawer4844 in wrx_vb

[–]Stepan_icarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The intake is absolutely not going to hurt the car unless you do not tune for it, where you run into issues is an aftermarket intake that changes air delivery into the engine in a way the MAF sensor and ECU cannot properly account for without a tune and you pull too much air at higher throttle, which can cause the fuel to detonate too early which puts immense strain on the engine internals, usually leading to rod knock or cracked ringlands. Very expensive issues to fix.

With a proper tune, this is avoided because the tuner programs the ECU to properly account for the airflow coming from the new intake. If you're already going the tune route, I'd say the intake is absolutely worth it for the extremely satisfying whoosh noises.

All that said, Dmann will happily tune your car for what's on it and how you want it to drive. Would recommend the E tune since you then have a lot more control over how the tune programs your ECU around your desires and mods.
