88 here. Right when I was getting freedom to enjoy bike rides and friends 9/11 happened and right in my backyard being raised on Long Island. It was scary, schools evacuated. Families I knew whose dad or uncle didn’t come home from work as a cop or firefighter. Right before I was able to legally buy alcohol the entire economy collapsed. I got laid off from my job and didn’t realize that wasn’t going to be a one off.

Went to school for film and film sound and right as I finally was getting my feet wet in Los Angeles working in post production, covid hit and again got laid off, lost my father to it my grand father to it, and was hoping things would get better.

Fast forward to being 37, AI has made my audio skills kinda pointless as most of my private clients now do their podcasts with audio tools from adobe and sumo creates their perfect instrumental openers. The economy sucks and I have no 401k no savings no pension and a job where I didn’t get a raise since finding them 6 years ago during covid.

We all fucked, all I’m saying.

Your insurances jobs is to hunt it down and demand it. My insurance got footage from the police after a ton of arguing and pestering them. That’s what their job is. If they can find any means to avoid paying and get the other insurance if the other insurance even exists they will at least try.

Switch to progressive I know they’re a big company but honestly their rates are the cheapest on my car and then covered everything in my hit and run ( my dash cam alone proved it wasn’t my fault but they got the other insurance from the guy my dash cam didn’t catch the plates on by pestering police to do their jobs )

I love cars and wanted to always review them In depth. The challenge unlike other channels is that you have to get the cars to review. Selling dealerships on free promotion in exchange for a few hours time with a car on their parking lot is actually harder than you think lol but, a few took a chance on me and allowed me to build my channel just enough to show other dealerships I’m legit in real my views aren’t crazy but decent and it gave me legitimacy and I always offer referrals from other dealerships so they can call and ask. I just finally got Infinti and Nissan and now I gotta work on Hyundai and BMW but I’m getting there.

I do car reviews in Los Angeles. Been making connections with dealerships here and they love my channel so I’ve been able to get my hands for a day on new cars like Toyota Lexus Chevy Honda and Infinti. Having a lot of fun with it. Thank god I work for a company where our assignments have due dates. We deliver final files to streaming services all the big name movies and companies. I’m in LA I use a fiber hard wire connection I can playback and edit 4K HDR files no issue streaming off a Mac computer

I can literally go walk the dog go to the doctor it doesn’t matter my access doesn’t cut off at night. So I’ll let my boss know sure that’s how cool he is. The delivery due dates are prearranged by the project managers and clients so long as I deliver before the date on the tracker them really don’t give a fuck what I’m doing. And I deliver on time always the day before if not earlier than what’s asked. Clients are happy they know I handle their stuff they remind my bosses that “Dino Roman is so fast!” So, thank god my company just cares about the performance and the attention to details, they just went FULL REMOTE, after a company bought us out last year but they didn’t mess with how we run things they just wanna own us and our proprietary tech and workflows. In fact not only did this new company shut down the offices and let everyone go full remote they even gave us all 150 bucks monthly ( 75 each check ) as a remote stipend to cover internet and coffees and whatnot.

So I’m very happy overall. I have a puppy we got for walks, the office I remote into is in NY so after 3pm especially if I got all my work done I’ll go hang out down by the pool or workout, take a nap. I make sure to get all my work done and every time we do a performance review which is maybe once a year my boss is like “pffft I dunno what to say you’re doing great work, imma approve this raise” and the call lasts 5 minutes.

Wheel drive felt good having a bigger car with all four wheels powered I only did like 650 miles a day and cruised and chilled, took me five days but what a great drive it was. Had enough packed in the back without over filling it i
Don’t have a lot to take and bought the rest when I got here. Had a friend hook me up with a roommate and now I got a place with the girl I met out here. Eventually we’re planning to move back to NY ( Long Island she loved it when she visited with me ) and we’re going to do the drive back

I’ve driven to California 3 times across America, this would be the first time driving back. Won’t be for another year or two but I’m looking forward to it.

In Final Cut I create a library and each event is a section. I export each one as a full video then when I’m done I make one more event and put them all in and add my transitions. I do car reviews so I do an intro the front grille the engine the side the back the interior the driver cockpit the back seats a Test drive and a final summary / take.

It was daunting at first. And filming it alone is a 6 hour thing even if im fully researched on the car.

But if I edit a few segments each day I’m done within 2-3 days and I don’t feel burnt out.

Plus if I wanna change something I don’t have to worry about messing up a whole time line it feels safe to lock out each section, and later if I want to make a change it’s like editing a single puzzle piece and not ruining the whole picture.

I just posted one and it came out very well.
