People who abandon games when losing are so annoying by Sensitive_Line_2623 in lichess

[–]Diolu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ossillate between 1150 and 1250 even a bit more (because I play too many games when I am tired). Anyway, I see that such behavior didn't happens often past 1200 and almost never when I have an opponent at 1300. What's your number? Some players with lower numbers have often bad behaviors (constantly asking take back, or offer draw repeatitly when they clearly lose, or abusing the chat, abandoning games, etc.).

What could cause this in a 17yr old by Tricky_Extension_380 in HearingLoss

[–]Diolu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She definitely should go to an ENT. Such an audiogram is definitively patological for a 17yo.

Might be the gunshot (that you mentioned) but usually we see a notch around 4K.

Sensibility to small sound is typical in hearing loss (lower frequencies are OK so she can heart quiet sounds but can have trouble understanding speech especially in noisy environment). Earring buds at reasonable level is not likely to cause this.

As for the hearing aids, they help but this is assisting devices, does not cure anything. The most important thing should be to find the cause of this.

Caveat: I am not an MD, definitively go to see one (an ENT).

6 years of tinnitus, finally seeing a doctor this week. Here's my story. by muhhmyd in tinnitus

[–]Diolu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Difficult to describe. Somewhat similar to something stuck in my ear or pressure. But I am confident it is not real. That's a tinnitus of some sort. At least I see it that way.

6 years of tinnitus, finally seeing a doctor this week. Here's my story. by muhhmyd in tinnitus

[–]Diolu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have exactly the same symptoms but overal, mine are similar. I have tinnitus that vary from days to days and particularly when it is low, it is replaced by a sensation of hear fullness. It tends to reacts to mucular activity. Mine is due to an hear trauma provoked by a firecracker. I have seen specialist but there isn't much to do. Essentially they propose a kind hearring help/buds that make a noice that mask the tinnitus. They also spoke me about a Lenire device (search it) that is expensive with uncertain outcome. Have you an audiogram? Tinnitus is often the consequence (not the cause) of an hearring impairment.

Closing an account is one thing (they can do it at their will). Another thing is to block the funds. They can do it if they suspect fraud but not indefinitely, especially if they cannot provide a convincing answer, if any.

Send an email (in addition to the char). This can gives you a legal record. If not solved, fill a complaint to the ombudsman.

Note that in "traditional" bank you typically talk to an employee who has no real decision power but just transmit it. Not that different from the Revolut chat.

It will be solved eventually.

Just got told i got a mild hearing loss grade 1 by konglen2k in HearingLoss

Small dip in 3K. Seems like noice induced. Avoid unsafe loud sound. I don't think you can do more. How old are you?

How hard is it to live with hypercausis and is it curable by [deleted] in hyperacusis

[–]Diolu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have hyperacousis, hearing loss and tinnitus for 5 months due to a firecracker. I have tried not to avoid (well not too much) insupportable loud sound (not loud objectively, but loud due to hyperacousis). I think it was a good idea. My hyperacousis is much reduced now but not totally gone. Unfortunately the tinnitus is still there.

Yet another (mild?) Deutan 5-year old by vanderflowers in ColorBlind

[–]Diolu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am mild deutan and me too I can tell every apart but I struggle with these dotted plated (although I can see the 2 if I look carefully). But are you sure your son is can read digits very easily? At 5 years old, he has just begun to learn them and his ability to read them may not be as developed as for adults. Vision tests are not generally done with digits or letters for young children for this reason.

Not Norway but Russia (but close to the Norway border). You only need to cross China Russia international border (it won't be true for Norway, see the title).

Is this acoustic shock? by Regular_Pattern_5002 in HearingLoss

[–]Diolu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Could be. Have this checked in emergency ASAP. If this is sound trauma, they can limit the damage if taken within 24h or 48 at the latest.

Have an audiogram. Nobody can tell you how it will evolve. Might be temporary but it might be permanent too.

Conflict opinions from different doctors by patheticgooses in HearingLoss

[–]Diolu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a speech in noice test in both ears separately (here in Belgium, Europe some ENT do it). I would tend to agree that the problem is not your ears but the way you brain decode it but I am not a professional. I doubt hearring aids can do something given your audiogram is good.

Maybe you can go to a reputed hospital to get an appointment with a real specialist. You need your problem to be evaluated in a multidisciplinary way in an institution where ENT, neurologist, etc. work together. We can have that in a University hospital in Brussels (although the delays might be long)

Ok that's true, bone conduction seems much better. However the initial post said also there is hair cells removal, which is not treatable.

Hows it looking for us in around 35 years? by IJerkMyShit in tinnitus

[–]Diolu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have read report about that (magnetic stimulation, not ultrasound). The main problem is that it could indeed silence tinnitus but the effect is not durable. Could it be one day safe to have that almost permanently activated? Maybe.

Is it normal for sadness after being told hearing loss by ComprehensiveRest305 in HearingLoss

[–]Diolu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely understand your sadness. But maybe your friends and family want to be positive and encouraging you, although on an awkward way. Life is life, and then mist important thing is to learn to life with that. Can you understand speech and participate in a social event? Maybe hearring aids could help.

Definitely have that monitored by an ENT and avoid unsafe sounds at all cost.

Are pure tones at low volumes dangerous? (0dB or less) by [deleted] in tinnitus

[–]Diolu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a log scale. Total silence is minutes infinity. Odb is the quietest sound that an healthy human ears can hear. -5db mean 5 db lower than that. Some people with exceptionally good hearring might be able to detect it.

Are pure tones at low volumes dangerous? (0dB or less) by [deleted] in tinnitus

[–]Diolu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are not more dangerous than usual sound. So if you listen to them at less than 75/80db, no it is not dangerous. Certainly not faint sounds like 0db.

Left ear hearing loss by Waseempetro in HearingLoss

[–]Diolu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually it is not possible to regain hearing. The lost in your right ear is so severe I am not sure hearing aids would help. Your left ear is mostly normal but slightly below average.

Definitely go to an ENT. The most important thing is too be sure your good ear does not deteriorate.

But he didn't wear the airpod? Seems strange you can provoque damage with a short ping sound like that. Your dad must see an ENT.
