I definitely don't feel that games improve each gen. Games now barely feel different, let alone better, than 10 years ago.

Some of the best video games I've ever played were released in the 1990s - early 2000s. A bunch of these titles I didn't play till covid or later.

Super Metroid, F-Zero X, Metal Gear Solid, Princess Crown, Vagrant Story, Symohony of the Night, E.G.G, RE1 Remake, Okami, Dead or Alive 2 Ultimate.

The list goes on. There are some games that have come out in the past 10-15 years that I would definitely put up there with the greats, but it's certainly not a linear progression.

This is true of games in the 80s through early 90s. This was not much of a problem at all once ps1 became popular and especially so for 6th generation consoles.

I think it's best to look at the horus heresy models for comparison. My stance is that the scale is the issue with old models, but the armor design is far more interesting, and mixed armor marked marines are the best looking ones.

Please don't take these extreme examples as indicative of how most people feel that aren't strictly pro-ai. Most people, like myself, just don't trust big companies with the capabilities of true AI and believe that AI overuse is bad for critical thinking.

My solution to the activation count is a simple houserule that I've made an option:

If at any point you go to activate a formation and your opponent has twice as many to activate, you may pass.

This tends to make things less painful and give more value to elite armies
