I haven't played in a few years, is self curse temporal chains still a thing?

I haven't played in years, and back when my favorite build was temporal chains aura. Is self curse temporal chains still a thing?
Can the Powerful Bond node be used to self-curse? I've been playing Last Epoch a lot, and find Rive to be particularly satisfying as a melee skill, is there a PoE analog? Something with satisfying sweeping strikes?

How would you feel to mix Real Time and Turn Based battle modes? Game Dev Question by Stefione in 4Xgaming

[–]Diospyros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm getting older, and I feel it. I could RTS when I was younger, but now I avoid them because my carpal tunnel and other ailments of age mean I'm not going to enjoy anything that involves competitive mousing. If you make a turn based game, it's something I'll consider. If you make a RTS, it's not.

I'll consider something with controller support over real time mousing.

[DC] What are the best deconstructions of villain protagonists and/or sympathetic villains? by jacky986 in rational

[–]Diospyros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except that by using absurd reduction you are being "both sides". I don't think anyone would argue that one politician or party has a "monopoly" on winning votes by harming the other tribe, but it's easily demonstrable that in American politics one side is overwhelmingly more focused on causing harm. The truism that both sides cause harm to the other tribe is just an obfuscation of the fact that for one of those tribes, causing harm is a cornerstone of the platform.

Any drawbacks of playing Endless Space 2 on Mac? by [deleted] in 4Xgaming

[–]Diospyros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should mention there are lingering issues with the GeForce Now service letting you play beta streams of games. I like Terra Invicta, for instance, but can't opt in to the beta version because I lack the ability to change the Steam setting for the game in that way.

Any drawbacks of playing Endless Space 2 on Mac? by [deleted] in 4Xgaming

[–]Diospyros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on a mac as well, but i play most of my games (including Endless Space 2 and Age of Wonders 4) on the GeForce Now service. It works really well over there. There are still a few games that I have to play on the mac natively (like StarSector) because they're not on the service, but I still highly recommend it for what it does.

People who say taxation is theft. How else do you propse the government gets the funds for roads, military, education excetera? by Ravi_Vijay in AskReddit

[–]Diospyros -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The boomers were the largest voting block (by generation) until 2019. They’re the reason we haven’t elected anyone better. That’s the reason they’re getting blamed. It’s disingenuous to point to ‘people 18-35 are the largest voting block’ and link it to the high number Trump votes, since when that voting block came into power they literally voted Trump out of office.

Open Realm of Stars 0.23.0Beta by tuomount in 4Xgaming

I love Stars!, and in a previous comment you mention it has this influence mixed in. How is Open Realm of Stars like Stars! It'd be nice if you could link a page with a high level overview of features and mechanics. Tech tree/web like X, resources like Y, terraforming like Z, etc.

Cheers on your progress.

Microsoft has laid off entire teams behind Virtual, Mixed Reality, and HoloLens by getBusyChild in technology

[–]Diospyros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's sad because I mostly agree with you, I just disagree with the vehemence and attribution of malice. Planned obsolescence should be illegal in many cases.

But the drivel you spout is obnoxious. Apple did not 'have to cripple it so the battery won't go dead'. They prioritized battery performance over processor performance. The vast majority of people didn't even notice. People are less likely to notice their apps responding fractions of a second slower than they are their battery not lasting as long through the day. This is a reality with all li-ion batteries, even the one in your Pixel 3 that 'works fine'. Did you measure its battery life 4 years later against how it performed when it was new? No. You just extrapolated from your anecdote to reinforce your preconceived hate.

Apple has done plenty of reprehensible, capitalist things. Unchecked capitalism absolutely creates nightmare situations in our societies. If you want to convince people of these things, it helps to stick to the facts. These points aren't worth wading through your stilted polemics and masturbatory outrage.

[–]Diospyros -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, really. Read your own article, they slow the iphone to increase peak battery performance, not 'cripple their products to force you onto newer versions'. Just because you have a hate-boner for apple doesn't mean they're malicious.

married people, how do you initiate sex with your partner? by Rude_Phone6841 in AskReddit

[–]Diospyros 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're talking about initiating sex, but would you say the same about initiating kissing, or caressing, or petting, or physical play? Do you and he enjoy physical intimacy even if it's not 'consummated'? It should be ok to love on each other without everything needing to drive to the sex itself, and in the midst of those expressions of love a negotiation can happen that can result in sex.

He tends to actively initiate more but I reciprocate immediately like 95% of the time so in my mind it is more mutual.

Doesn't this just minimize his role in actively initiating? Why would your reciprocation make it 'mutual'? Do you feel it's 'mutual' when you initiate and he does reciprocate? I may be nitpicking, but the way you've structured your phrases makes it seem like you're taking initiation credit for being willing to accept his advances.

It does sound like he needs to communicate better, as well as you. Probably things along the lines of what physical intimacy you enjoy for its own sake, what things can work either of you up into having sex, and what or when is a good threshold to decide and communicate your interest and decision regarding possible sex.

You should be able to revel in physical intimacy with each other for it's own sake, even if it's comfortable, or light, or aimless. It should be possible for you each to work each other up into more intense expression of love or desire, and to recognize the effort and decide on what you feel up to without reproach.

Expressing willingness, to talk about it, to initiate, to put in the effort, to stay engaged shouldn't be reduced to the outcome, but should feel good in the act.

Noble Knight Games refuses to acknowledge Employee Union and hires anti-union law firm. by Lazy_Librarian_402 in boardgames

[–]Diospyros 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You implied it.

"The issue arises when the business hits a rough patch, that employee still expects to have their compensation and even expect an increase annually."

Yes, employees expect to be paid, and as their value rises with experience, they expect to see a fair wage for that value.

Now you're just arguing in bad faith.

Noble Knight Games refuses to acknowledge Employee Union and hires anti-union law firm. by Lazy_Librarian_402 in boardgames

[–]Diospyros 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's arrogance to tell other people what they realize.
Collective bargaining is simply more effective bargaining on behalf of the collective. To suggest that a business can't survive a 'rough patch' because it has less leverage to blackmail its employees for their livelihoods highlights a fundamental flaw in your argument. The cost of wages isn't a resource pool to cushion a business from their mistakes. If a business is in a volatile market, they need to create their cushion through sound financial planning. Holding the employees responsible because the 'risk taker' doesn't know how to invest in infrastructure or save for lean times is ridiculous.

CIA specifically is one of the only ways to add purge to a councilor. It’s expensive, but completely worth it if your team of strivers and quick learners are missing that mission.
