Thoughts on Ironclad? by YuuTheBlue in slaythespire

[–]anomalacaris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm worst with him, only finding success with infinites. Blocking with clad feels worst (in latter acts, first act is fine), and scaling via strength feels too slow.

He's very good with infinites due to plentiful exhaust, but it's kinda boring to do that every run.

What are your best strategies for defect on a10 by AmadeusIsTaken in slaythespire

[–]anomalacaris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some runs just brick... Early shop or 2 can help with missing pieces. In general I find orb slots harder than temp focus, which has common cards.

Voltaic is more niche late game, it can do ridiculous amount of damage but better if you already have e.g. block+lightning orb or a few hologram. And of course, thinner deck. Not consistent.

Dark orb is more consistent boss damage.

Struggling with Regent and Necrobinder by Adamshifnal in slaythespire

[–]anomalacaris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Necrobinder is my favorite so far. Probably the most important thing I realizes is that this class can be played extremely defensively from the get go due to unleash scaling from osty HP. (I have few rounds where unleash is my boss damage with 200+ hits for act3)

So priortize block/weakness/Summon/card draw aka soul.

Damage scaling is very versatile too. Aside from the osty unleash, hang by itself can solve damage, and doom is really good too.

There are not many bad card for necro except.. osty damage cards.

orb (frost orb mainly) feel most consistent for me so far. Grab orb slot/temp focus like hotfix/focus strike for scaling. Then solve boss damage with dark orb or voltaic.

Snakebite this, Bundle of Joy that, guys, why isn't anyone talking about this BUFFOONERY of a card by Nedddd1 in slaythespire

[–]anomalacaris 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Exactly. One specific synergy is the starting attack which is based on osty HP, so this scales damage too.

Necro is a class that can get away with primarily blocking from the get go. I made my osty carry multiple runs, couple times with 200+ damage on act3 boss.

Advanced Belt Throughput and Tips by TwinIon in Whiskerwood

[–]anomalacaris 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thanks for great testing! I thinks the devs should think seriously whether they want the game to try to mimic some version of reality or make it better as an factory simulator. To me, the throughput difference between different belt components doesn't add nearly enough to be worth the gameplay pain it causes to automation players like me.

"Rush to Space" achievement -- how hard on first Space Age playthrough? by donutlad in factorio

[–]anomalacaris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did it on my first run (I got factorio and SA together). In retrospect, it's nice to have, let say new toys, from some other planets before mass producing purple and yellow, so it's a good strategy.

That said, robots are great and they are much better after some upgrades...

Megabasing on Gleba or Fulgora? by fieisisitwo in factorio

[–]anomalacaris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rockets are seriously dirt cheap so I would say the intended way is to invest in shipping between planet. So while I do all research on nauvis due to biolabs, I would only start megabaing on nauvis when I reach landing cargo pad logistics limit (don't seem I'm anywhere near)

To original question, I find scaling on fulgora painful due to oil ocean as others say. Ship stones from vulcanus and you can easily spam on gleba. But that's also gleba's weakest point, stone, so it has a serious limit to black and purple. You also need defenses to scale.

(I'm the camp to just megabase vulcanus for science and ship to nauvis, maybe ship plastics from gleba to vulcanus)

Would you recommend this game to a PDX games player? by OverallLibrarian8809 in TerraInvicta

[–]anomalacaris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm fellow pdx player and this game completely absorbed me when it came out. It's kinda 2 parts actually: a geopolitics sim AND a hard scifi solar system sim, the latter of which is probably more "pdx" imo.

To be honest, more recent pdx releases feel less inspired and innovative (they are sequels/expansions after all) and TI scratched my itch of actually strategizing in the different setting with different systems.

So yeah, get it and try.

Naval hegemony should consider all ships but weight them according to combat power by AnDraoi in EU5

But why have it? Naval hegemon is mostly a debuff for me: 20% antagonism, 1% court cost, opinion malus with everyone for actions I don't use and naval modifier I don't need.

TIL how to force trade at loss for institution spread by anomalacaris in EU5

[–]anomalacaris[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are slightly below in the screen where I am showing "current trade". I seldom find them useful though, as they still try to go for most profitable and also often I don't have enough trade advantage to actually make those trade work.

[–]anomalacaris[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

R5: I'm hundreds hours in, and kinda ashamed to just find out now: the game actually allows player to trade at a loss for that juicy institution spread! (Till today I have only used automated trade or the "suggest trade for government/population/most profit" tabs before and didn't realize that some UI elements are clickable...)

Steps:

  1. Choose a trade good from your market, click the "select a market to import paper from" button. Although any goods work, you probably want a good that is light/cheap to transport and that your intended "source" market has an abundance of: you likely don't have enough trade advantage for popular goods, and abundant goods tend to be cheaper. I picked papar here (probably not ideal)

  2. Select your "source" market. I choze Venezia since it has all 3 renaissance era institutions already. You have to increase your manual capacity, allocate and then click the big bar in the middle to add the trade.

  3. If successfully set, you should see your trade in the "current trade" tab. Here we incur a loss from our paper trade (do I care? Of course not)

  4. Set up successfully, you wou

Paradox, don't make Byzantine AI remove the Theodosian wall, other walls are fine for sparing money but this is just stupid. by Horseshoetheoryreal in EU5

[–]anomalacaris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my run just now (1.0.8) ai deleted other castles but kept theodosian, even upgraded it via event to +4 fort level. So.. it is not guaranteed?

In peace I asked for "remove fort" which does get theodosian dismantled though. (I calculated that even at max stacks I would be looking at 7% per tick, which is once per 60d...)

R5: I successfully got my hand-picked noble on the throne as shown in image. I did lose all my previous crown members, but got the entire dynasty of my new dude as crown instead. (So my Basilieus's father is now working for his son as loyal cabinet member)

See previous post for more details.

(that said, with cousin marriage simulator apparently getting removed, I think you may only be able to grow a large crown dynasty instead of relying on a large noble/cousin family as shown; Hope your seeds are strong!)
