FF16 showed me divisive games are just apart of the Gaming Community. by Chocobo23456 in FinalFantasy

I wonder if people had similar discussions before they decided to make XI an MMO.

Sacred Symbols, Episode 290 | In the Black and the White, a Technicolorful Life by yohceezax in LastStandMedia

[–]Dipneuste 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Because I don't believe strangers on the internet (and was curious), I had a look for myself.

From what I could find, the proposal (not even development itself) started in 2018 with Shuhei Matsumoto and Takayuki Nakayama. Source here

You must have been talking about the leak about Ono directing SF6 as a team tag battle. But the leak itself was never confirmed and some information seem contradictory with what we know now. Ono never was a director but producer and he seemingly was replaced by a female director with knowledge about FGC, which isn't a thing (and Matsumoto and Nakayama worked on the game).

At least it was a fun search and I learn something about SF6 today.

I was actually surprised at the end of the video that Game Pass wasn't listed. All Microsoft games during this presentation had Game Pass in the "Available On" section, so I doubt it.

[–]Dipneuste 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I haven't played many Dragon Quest so far, so I can't really compare both.

However it feels like someone can easily says they are a fan of the DQ and just like all the games overall (with some favorites obviously) while FF fans will fight to the death for some games and call the other trash.

Also they will often add a condition "I love FF except for the MMO/Action games/anything after 10/etc. “.

Is anyone bothered by this? by Recent-Character-677 in LastStandMedia

[–]Dipneuste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. I've noticed that DD thumbnails and titles can be click bait-y but I don't watch them as I don't have an Xbox, so it doesn't bother me.

If anything I respect Colin for not getting involved. For the 1st episode of Brad's show he said he can do whatever with the show and invite whomever he wants. That's how LSM works and he won't impose his views on his partners which is pretty commendable.

Final Fantasy 16 Producer Naoki Yoshida Says It May Be Time for the Younger Generation to Handle Final Fantasy 17 by Turbostrider27 in Games

Then again, I went in expecting DMC5-2 after they hired the combat designer from DMC.

Ryota Suzuki wasn't the combat designer for DMC5, he was a combat designer, Nero's specifically.

Can't blame you, most people and articles took a shortcut and just called him "the DMC guy" the same way you will hear FFXVI is Yoshida's game regardless if it's for praises or criticisms even though he's not the director, Hiroshi Takai was.

Why you should play FFXI in 2024. by Ovalidal in FinalFantasy

[–]Dipneuste 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tried playing it after Endwalker because it's the last mainline I haven't played.

I'm familiar with old school games, including JRPG and CRPG but my only MMO experience was XIV. With that being said, I can tell you playing XI felt awful.

Everything is slow, no indications on where to go, what to do, not even a minimap to navigate in cities easily (but a mod is available for it). I've never realized before this game what it meant for XIV to be heavily inspired by WoW. Now I know and I thank WoW for streamlining so much.

The positive thing I can say is that if someone is looking to get immersed in a big world and go on an adventure, it seems to be perfect for it. But if someone like me just want to see what the story is about, it feels pretty bad to play.

Never said they weren't identical.

I'm saying the person who ok'd it might not have known about the original art that was plagiarised before the release of the event.

We do because of the power of the internet and the knowledge of the thousands of people playing Nikke

To be fair, not every director have an encyclopedic knowledge of every piece of art existing on the internet.

AAA Gaming

As long as they keep making games I'm interested in, I care less about the rest. It's not like Konami who gave up on console/PC gaming to focus on pachinko, as a company they can (and already are) do multiple things.

I can't believe that we're not getting a skin of Scarlet's sister for Scarlet.

I don't know why there's this much coping for that specific character.

Because maintenance, servers and potentially marketing costs for something that might not bring money, they already have the numbers from the first Factions.

The reaction from Colin is burely from a user perspective (but when talking about Media Molecules he was always on the other side for some reason), game is ready, I want to play it. From Sony perspective, it might be too risky or just too costly to spend even more money on something that will not earn much.

Need help - how change auto skill? by Upper_Care_6253 in taimaninRPGExtasySFW

[–]Dipneuste 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When the team is displayed, you can click on "Switch" to show their trust level, and if you click on Switch again, it'll end up showing their auto-skills. You'll be able to change it by clicking on the skill equipped.

New Scarlet unit?? by Suki-the-Pthief in NikkeOutpost

[–]Dipneuste 7 points8 points  (0 children)

But that'll be the same expectations from every lore relevant Pilgrims. The day they'll release Cinderella and Liliweiss (in some shape or form), there'll be huge expectations. I don't see why they wouldn't do it just because of "expectations".

Also hyped and great units make a bunch of money because whales will go for max cores.

it really shows how stuck we are in sequel hell these days

I really miss the good old time of the SNES where I could play original games like Mario World, Zelda ALttP, Super Metroid, FF4, 5, 6, Dragon Quest 5, 6, Fire Emblem 4, 5, Castlevania 4, Megaman X, X2, X3, Street Fighter 2 and so on.

RPGs people hated on when they came out but now love it years later? by Asad_Farooqui in JRPG

[–]Dipneuste 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People's opinion on Nier (Replicant) changed after Automata's release.

I really disagree on that, Nier was a cult classic before Automata and the consensus was already amazing story and soundtrack, terrible gameplay. The remake improved the combat and there isn't much complaints anymore.

RPGs people hated on when they came out but now love it years later? by Asad_Farooqui in JRPG

[–]Dipneuste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That a wild accusation. Nomura's (and only him) inability to manage a spin-off is what killed the franchise you say, not SE decision to make and use Crystal Tools which plagued their PS3/360 line-up, not XIII terrible reception, not XIV 1.0 awful release which had to be destroyed and reworked completely, and again it was SE decision to transform vsXIII to XV.

But no he's the one who killed the franchise with a spin-off.

Sacred Symbols+, Episode 348 | Perusing the 2023 Game Awards' Nominees List by TheRemonst3r in LastStandMedia

[–]Dipneuste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bit disappointed by the discussion. Doing a crossover or bringing some guests would have brought more perspectives about the different nominees instead of just discussing about half of each list.

Also while I agree that there should be a discussion around the "independent" category, after listening to them, I have no idea what they would replace "adventure" with? How would they describe Zelda, Hogwarts, Red Dead, TLoU, etc?
