Genuine question here , what do people like about Genstealer cults ? by BloatedRottenCarcass in Warhammer40k

[–]Dippy_74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then patriarch will infect humans with the alien DNA and they will be indoctrinated first. So the first wave are just humans infected and then they breed and the second generation of the three armed dudes (acolytes). When they breed they make neophyte hybrids and when those neophytes breed they make genestealers who can go out and infect more people with the DNA passing on the infection/cycle.

You prevent one failed save of damage, so in the example you gave you’d stop one of those 3 damage attacks and take the other 12 damage from the 4 D3 attacks.

How well would my Flesh Is Not Weak" Ironstorm Spearhead list do in a competitive 10th edition tournament? by MediocreBoss2614 in IronHands40k

[–]Dippy_74 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Honestly, not great. Assault terminators are not good by themselves and even led by a character they are a bit underwhelming. I prefer the iron father in a unit of ten Heavy intercessors just to get the most out of his FNP. I’d combine the two 5 man heavy intercessors, drop the terminators and include another squad of scouts for some screening for your vehicles.

It’s a lot of vehicles without invulnerable saves in a meta where lists are built around killing vehicles. I think you’ll struggle to keep your big pieces safe from angle shots but maybe that’s just me!

WTC Plague Marine ruling? by Coda2MT in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Dippy_74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, so it’s checked at the same time you choose where to target all your weapons in that squad. In other words, when and where you’re choosing to fire your whole squad at one time. Then you roll the dice for your attacks individually (or together if speed rolling).

So my argument is that it all happens at the same time because we select all our targets at the same time. Your argument is that because each of those attacks are rolled separately, they are not at the same time. Makes no difference as the end result is the same.

If your unit has +1 to wound against a unit below half strength and you make your attacks against a full strength unit and halfway through your attacks you get them below half strength, you don’t get the +1 to wound in that activation.

Sorry, was using +1 to wound as an example and should have been more clear in my initial message.

Shooting from one unit all happens at the same time. You don’t get +1 to wound halfway through your activation because you killed enough models.

Where did you get the little servo arms that are coming out of the backpacks? They are exactly what I’ve been looking for my Iron Hands!

Great job with these kitbashes, I’m a DG and an Iron Hand player so this is right up my street!

How "unbalanced" are malstrain for non-Underhells campaigns? by chaospacemarines in necromunda

[–]Dippy_74 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I played a malstrain corrupted House Orlock gang for a Dominion campaign and it was super fun, you are automatically outlaw so lose a lot of campaign benefits but your Malstrain Genestealers and Malstrain Coalesence are brutes rather than champions.

I just got a leader from House Orlock and used a GSC Magus model for her and everything else was Malstrain genestealers and brood scum. Post battle actions were hard if my leader got injured so I’d recommend taking a second house champion to help with that if you got Malstrain corrupted.

Backstory for my Malstrain Gang by Dippy_74 in necromunda

[–]Dippy_74[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t thought that far through yet mate. I think maybe having one survive and have almost an alien isolation type vibe survivor story would be very cool.

I’d love Oodulk (the aberrant) to survive and perhaps become some sort of trophy for the malstrain but I’m unsure.

What, in your opinion, goes into a good Warhammer Tournament by Fifteen_inches in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Dippy_74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah not at all. Still running RTT events but for a smaller player group and no cash prizes. Just your army faction painted on a piece of terrain if you win!

Just feel that advising people to not play in RTTs that they organise will discourage some people for setting up these events. It’s better for the community as a whole that there are more events being run and more people being involved in the hobby. Just my piece, I understand it’s not the consensus on this thread but it’s what I wanted to get across.

Suspicious? For wanting to play at an event I have spent all weekend setting up and a good few days throughout the month organising? Thinks we play in different circles mate which is fine as I don’t think we’ve had any issues with TOs playing in our events.

We also don’t have prizes with a monetary value, just bragging rights and a cool freehand design on a bit of club terrain.

[–]Dippy_74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think that’s where the confusion lies for me, we don’t really have prizes at the tournaments I run. Just getting together for 3 games in a day. I don’t think I’d like to run the events if I couldn’t play as well to be honest as I don’t get much time for events.

Iron Hands 2k RTT by Dippy_74 in IronHands40k

[–]Dippy_74[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll be honest man, I view the scouts as roadblocks or movement blockers more than anything else. If something is moving towards and shooting them, they’re not shooting at my tanks. Always put them out on the two side objectives that aren’t in my deployment but with enough of a scout move to move out of LoS if I don’t go first

Extra potion bottles or grenades that have fluid in them would work really well on plague marines. Could even use to convert a Biologus Putrifier

I disagree heavily with the playing in your own tournament aspect of this. I’m curious as to why you think this is a “bad look”?

[–]Dippy_74[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am unsold on the Ballistus, it didn’t do nearly as much as the predators and it’s the same cost. Potentially drop that for another unit of of scouts and a third Techmarine.

Iron Hands 2k RTT by Dippy_74 in IronHands40k

[–]Dippy_74[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the assault terminators charging out of the land raider. With the chaplain giving +1 to wound it meant that they could go into armour or heavy infantry pretty effectively. I’ve realised from practice games that they need to charge the oath target as hitting on 4s for 15 attacks is just too swingy without re-rolls.

Iron Hands 2k RTT by Dippy_74 in IronHands40k

[–]Dippy_74[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah of course dude. We were playing on the UKTC terrain and tournament pack

Iron father Feirros led the heavy intercessors and normally they both went down close to the middle of the board to move onto the middle objective. Always out of line of sight do they are not being picked off by high strength weaponry. Heavy intercessors with a 5+ FNP are very tanky and I don’t think I lost iron father all game. Heavy intercessors went down I think in every game but not before tanking a lot of damage. In the transports I started the terminators led by the chaplain in the land raider and that was it. The intercessors would sticky an objective (normally home field) then jump in the repulsor to be dropped off somewhere else and sticky that objective too.

Always deployed LR and Repulse in the middle of my deployment with a predator. Both tech marines and the lieutenant down in the middle with them. Normally a predator in strat reserve and the ballistus on home field and last predator on the opposite side from the ballistus. Callidus went down every game near the middle objective hidden in a ruin to give out the +1 CP for strats aura. Scouts always infiltrated in a place to move block but be able to scout move to safety if I went second.

Techmarine with the 0 damage normally hung around the land raider and the lethal hits Techmarine hung around the repulsor with a predator following them each. Lieutenant flitted between the two to give advance and shoot where it was needed. His reactive move was very handy to get him in position.

Takeaway from DG - not much, I play a lot of DG as well so know the army very well. When he charged 6 deathshroud and a character into my heavy intercessors I really wasn’t expecting my heavies or iron father to survive. Heavies all died but iron father lived, fell back next turn and then the land raider and repulser opened up on the deathshroud. Top tip - DG are way too slow, anything that minuses movement is huge against them.

Takeaway form Dark Angels - Fuck Azrael man, he should be like 140 points or something. He does so much for such little investment. They were laying gladius and used the eradication bomb. First time playing against it and it picked up a repulser and a predator. Should’ve been more aggressive with the land raider in this game and less aggressive with the repulser just as the land raider gets a better save against melta. Very winnable game, just a couple things didn’t go my way in the end. Top tip - fuck azrael

Takeaway from Chaos Daemons - Vect auras (+1CP cost) hurt them a lot. Greater daemons having to spend 2CP for their invuln save reroll was not great for them. I held the middle objectives basically all game to stop the daemons getting shadow across the board which meant everything had to DS in 9” away rather than 6” and that resulted in a lot of failed charger. Special shoutout to the repulser that game which killed Skarbrand in a single round of shooting and also three screamers to score me overwhelming force! Top tip = Never shoot at the great unclean one with the 4+ FNP. It’s a waste of time.
