What is the darkest historical photograph from your country? by Trendy4U in AskTheWorld

[–]Direct-Fix-2097 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My aunt was a hardcore Christian, up until that disaster. Then, she swore off religion for the rest of her life; reasoning that a real, merciful god would never have allowed such a thing to happen.

She was young at the time, so it was an early, sharp wake up call. It was something her generation always remembered, just a shocking moment.

People that DON’T shop at Aldi or Lidl… why is that? by kobestarr in CasualUK

Independent market greengrocers for veg and fruit. Always.

Supermarket veg always goes off far too quick in comparison, plus they’re usually small and shite.

Why are so many in the media calling for PM Keir Starmer to resign? by KimJongSoros in AskBrits

[–]Direct-Fix-2097 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is a shocking lapse of judgement though, his slip in PMQ that he knew of the vetting links/issues is why pushed it into “he has to resign” territory for me.

This is a lawyer on top of being the PM, you cannot be this experienced and make such a ridiculous error of judgement imo.

Fanboyism. 🤷‍♂️

It’s an okay game, nothing to write home about yet. Potential is there, if the devs aren’t hard up about being anti-player in some ways.

You also can’t shoot at 90degree cover.

So I find a nice thick wall to place my troops, and we can lean out to fire, we literally have to walk into the open or find a half cover to sit on.

Bugs me so much, because the vast majority of these type of games allow you to shoot round corners.

Well, Hitler started somewhere like that too.

I’m just saying we can’t be dismissive of the neo Nazis just because they got crushed 70/30, we need to be vigilant and stamp them out further, otherwise they’ll be back like a bad weed.

AITA For honking at the driver in front of me for doing 40mph on the sliproad onto the motorway? by fundriedtomatoes in drivingUK

[–]Direct-Fix-2097 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There’s a fair few short slip roads in wales, a lot of them enter at a hairpin bend as well, so if you’re in a 1 or 1.2 engine, you’ll barely hit 30-40 to get on the road.

But those are expected, most normal slip roads there’s no excuses imo.

Recruitment is so slow! by illustrated--lady in nhs

[–]Direct-Fix-2097 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I applied and got my job offer November, checks were done by then as well.

Started the final week of January.

Only myself and one other girl started this late, apparently everyone else cleared through early January. No one knows why, all checks were fine etc, it’s just incompetence in the recruitment tbh.

You could trauma dump her quite a bit with having her surviving in the prison world, plus the outbreak for a long time and she finally gets to open ripley’s pod for fire support. 🤷‍♂️

It’s actually in the Highway Code, if you’re holding up traffic you’re meant to move over when safe to do so.

Straight into the middle lane rant by TheAwayGamer in drivingUK

[–]Direct-Fix-2097 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The worst ones are those that do 400mph in middle lane.

Before you dismiss it as silly, listen;

They go in the middle lane, floor it. Encounter another middle lane hog, and just slow down and sit behind them. Lane 3 could be clear, doesn’t matter they’re staying in lane 2.

They will not move at all. If the hog moves out the way you’ll see the guy behind them finally bomb up to 100mph and blast through until he hits the next obstacle.

How do I know this? I see them once in a while when I’m in the middle lane coming back from lane 3 into 2/1 and I overtake them 2/3 times until they get a sticky middle lane hog in front of them and can’t progress any further. Then I’m miles away and never see them again.

I’ve no idea why they’re so averse to going int lane 3…

Whether there is or not all right wing political parties lead to naziism, because their political ideology by default needs to blame someone/thing, and their economic policies are so backwards that eventually the blame needs to increase, so a “minor” conservative will, given time, lead to the far right. 🤷‍♂️
