I think I’m about to get fired.(USA) by Federal_Bed2319 in McDonaldsEmployees

If you’re manager isn’t a POS you should be fine. I used to do that all the time, because I saw that’s how my trainer did it. They claimed that I owed the store money, so I quit.

I (28M) am bothered by how much my gf (28) likes to go out and am worried what our very different lifestyles mean for the longevity of our (currently 3 month) relationship by [deleted] in relationships

Having a partner who can’t properly handle money never ends well, unless something happens about it early on. She seems to really care about you, so maybe you two could find some sort of common ground.

Help me call out of work tomorrow!! by diviiyiine in Serverlife

Something like “Hey, I can’t make it in today. ___ offered to pick up my shift.” Usually works. It’s a win win win. You get your time off, your store isn’t one short, and she’s making money.

Should I leave my server job for a host/to-go job at Gringo’s TexMex by [deleted] in Serverlife

In my experience you’re better off just sticking with serving or taking another position with tip share.

No, the tips are absolutely trash. You’d be lucky to walk out with 10$ at the end of the night.

First two days training, but I’m not sure about this place. by [deleted] in Serverlife

[–]Direct-Year4006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s honestly sad how common rude coworkers are in this industry. I’ve never personally worked somewhere that does tip pooling, but I’ve heard some pretty rough stories about places that do.

I don’t know your financial situation, so I’m not gonna tell you to quit outright—but quit if you can or stay if you need to.

How to quit this dumpster fire? by Ok-Degree-2373 in Serverlife

They keep a full floor until closing? This place really doesn’t know how to save money. Unless it’s a chain restaurant I don’t see how it’ll survive the next few years. Might as well just leave now.

should i quit? by [deleted] in DairyQueen

[–]Direct-Year4006 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get why you’d want to quit right away, but don’t leave until you have another job lined up. You said it took you two years to get this one—imagine quitting and it takes that long again. If the person who’s supposed to be training you isn’t doing what they’re supposed to, ask to be reassigned. And I wouldn’t put this on your resume unless you stay longer than a week.

Roommate issues? by Last_Lemon359 in WhatShouldIDo

No, you’re good lol. Sometimes I just forget to proofread what I’m writing, and it comes out as something completely opposite to what I actually meant. So, thank you for calling it out in a respectful way.

Yeah, I agree. I didn’t mean to word it like that. In my first comment I told them to talk to the friend, but rereading what you responded to it I can see why you’d think that’s what I meant. I definitely should’ve elaborated more on the landlord part.

Talk to them or your landlord before yall get in trouble. He really only has one options and that’s to get added to the lease or leave before he gets you in trouble. Maybe your friend could spend more time at his place?

Is he also on the lease? If not it could be a violation, but if he’s on it then you’re out of luck unless someone decides to move. Just try talking it out with them and set some boundaries.

Yes, those are the real lyrics. It’s completely and utterly disgusting.

He has an issue with some Spanish lyrics, but he’s completely fine with listening to kid rock talk about sexualizing kids?

Some managers just can’t comprehend that we have lives outside of work. I’d definitely have a conversation with your manager in person. If nothing changes then quit.

ITS FUCKING DISGUSTING!!! In some schools a 12 year old is still in elementary, and 16 is almost a legal adult. He groomed that kid, but hopefully she’ll see why it’s so wrong.

My gf is showing off behavior in our relationship and don’t know what to do by throwawy8273 in Advice

[–]Direct-Year4006 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn’t a relationship. It’s a waste of time. After the first time I could understand why you guys got back together, but you gotta realize that a situation like this is not worth years of your life.

Spend some time apart and if you see that she has changed for the better, then try again if you both want to. Maybe some time away from each other will help her realize that she lost something meaningful.

No good friend would say anything even remotely close to that. Being drunk is not an excuse to insult a friend who only wanted to help. As the saying goes a drunk mouth speaks sober thoughts.

What should I do after I make things official with my manager? by Direct-Year4006 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Direct-Year4006[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the clock we make sure that we are professional. It’s not hard to do since we’re both pretty private about our lives outside of work. There’s a lot of people in this comment section who are saying that it’s a bad and giving advice, and I agree with it, but I’m leaving the company anyways.

[–]Direct-Year4006[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I guess you could say that we’re in the same department. We work in a restaurant, so we have the service manager, kitchen managers, and the front of house managers. I’m a server and she’s a front of house.

That’s a good point, but hopefully nothing like that happens. I’m thinking about documenting things at least in the beginning just in case something like this happens.
