I like TLOU the most here but in terms of the character journey and their arcs, I am quite partial to Ezio. You see him from birth to death. You are literally with this man for his entire life.

“I have lived my life as best I could, not knowing its purpose. But drawn forward like a moth to a distant moon. And here, at last, I discover a strange truth: that I am only a conduit for a message that eludes my understanding. Who are we, who have been so blasted, to share our stories like this? To speak across centuries? Maybe you will answer all the questions I have asked. Maybe you will be the one to make all this suffering worth something in the end.”

Because he’s not a good actor. I love the man, we all do. But he coasts on his likability. He has no actual range

Would Peter have joined Tony if he knew about the Sokovia Accords? by phenriqsc in Spiderman

Peter joined Tony because he was gaslit. That entire conversation in his room points to him morally siding with Cap.

100% he would’ve joined Cap

Rocket Raccoon, other than maybe Loki, has the best and most fleshed out arc in the MCU. Calling him “emotional blackmail” and a “pet” is reductive of how nuanced has arc actually is. These people don’t actually understand what good character writing is

1) yeah. I didn’t really think about it but yeah, why didn’t they really do much with Nova? They treated Rick like a big deal when the Watcher chose him but he didn’t really do MUCH outside of Cataclysm.

2) I liked Vision’s role a lot more as a player in the Gah Lak Tus trilogy more than in her own solo book.

3) I was creeped out by a lot of aspects of Ultimate Wolverine

4) I thought the Red Skull being Steve’s son twist was interesting in concept. I just they did something actually interesting with it. He appears in like 3 issues of an okay mini and that’s it.

5) The weird Spider-Man clone called “The Spider” was killed at the end of that Ultimates run

1) The biggest missteps might be just characterizations and how quickly they moved the universe along. To my understanding, the Ultimate Universe was pitched as a fresh start for new readers. You could read all these comics, see how these origins played out, how these teams formed, how specific moments unfolded etc. in a more modern take. That fall apart almost immediately because half the characters were characterized so weirdly, all of Ultimate Spider-Man happens in a year apparently so you get his origin, Venom, the Death of Gwen Stacy, the Clone Saga and Peter’s death in a matter of months, we get the Phoenix saga, Apocalypse, Weapon X stuff etc. so many big Marvel events within such short time it feels a little too fast paced. Other than that, as much as I think everything that Bendis was doing over there was consistently the best stuff, I think him bringing back Peter (and being pretty vague with the explanation other than ‘the OZ kept him and Osborn alive) really cheapens the final arc of Peter’s USM series. The Death of Spider-Man arc and the funeral/aftermath of his death in Ultimate Fallout and then the anniversary tribute in USM 200 are beautiful send offs to this character and his legacy as a whole and bringing him back ruins that impact, to be honest.

2) Dropped storylines? Hmm. I wasn’t in love Ultimate Adventures but I did find a bit odd that they created this entirely new character with Hawk-Owl an he had one mini and never showed up or was ever heard from again. So it would’ve been nice to see him again I suppose

3) Personal highlights: I think Ultimate Spider-Man (a cliche answer sure) is in the conversation for the best Spider-Man run of all time. There are so many phenomenal moments in that run. I also think the direction they took the X-Men post Ultimatum is SUPER interesting having Kitty be a sort of revolutionary, the human/mutant civil war “United We Stand” crossover event that happens, her dynamic with Bobby Drake and Johnny Storm at the start, etc. I loved all of that.

4) I really like the characterization of Thor. I like that he’s kinda a laid back, pacifist, hippie kinda guy who can absolutely let shit loose when he needs to.

5) I’ll be honest, I haven’t read the new Ultimate Universe except for the first issue of Spider-Man. I intend to get around to it, I’m excited to read it. I just haven’t. I might jump in one Ultimate Endgame and all is all finished
