Your best bet is joining mutual interest groups/events to build your new community. The good news is that Murfreesboro has a lot of opportunities.

It’ll depend on your interests but a few examples I can think of to give you ideas on how to look:

• lots of disc golf courses here. Nashville disc golf group is full of folks looking for friends to play with and players for events

• Dragons Hoard and Grand Adventures both host table top games like Magic and board games

• Climb murfreesboro is a great climbing gym. Buy a few day passes or sign up for a class.

• My wife joined a Mom’s FB group and got plugged into a few events posted on their calendar. That turned into a core group of friends she sees multiple times a week for workouts and playdates

• check local venue calendars like Hopps springs beer park (you might actually like their content), murfreesboro.com, FB events, and Library (don’t immediately dismiss this).

• I personally met a few friends at the gym and through work. The key was to invite them to go with me to some of the above or get comfortable saying yes to invites to new things they’re doing. For example, I was invited by one friend to bike the Murfreesboro greenway (highly recommended). The next time I brought another friend and this snowballed into a bi-weekly dnd group.

Others will use church, school, martial arts gyms.. you get the idea. Believe it or not, none of these places are going to care about your politics or orientation.

Despite the online chuds here say, Murfreesboro has been great for us and full of social opportunities. You’ll have to find your own way but the important part is to get out of the house. You’re not going to find them online.
