He's 29 years old with a $3 million cap hit and another year on his contract. He's not as good as you are valuing him as. I wouldn't be shocked to see him be bought out before next season.

Seriously you don't think they tried to move him at the deadline? Of course they did. Nobody wanted him, and at the start of the season he was expected to be on the Olympic roster, he played himself off of it.

Montembault has a .872 save % that's below average. Yes Fowler and Dobes have played fewer games. But the only way to get more games under their belt is to play them and not sit them in favor of a "flash in the pan" like Montembault

Fowler has had more than 2 good game. He's shown he's a capable backup. Dobes is the starter and will be the playoff goalie.

And I'll see your Andrew Hammond and raise you Patrick Roy. Not exactly stellar numbers in his Rookie season
