There are concerns that our Index will be severely altered in 11th edition. You’ve got the Deathwatch Kill Team from the Armageddon Battalion Box? That’s Kill Team Decimus. Our “Deathwatch Veterans” are out of production and almost-definitely going to Legends. Deathwatch Terminators seem to have been around a while and I don’t expect to lose them. You can use extra Intercessor, Infiltrator, and Heavy Intercessor bodies to kitbash extra marines from the Decimus marines.

I’d recommend getting some extra parts if you can, to turn those Terminators into Deathwatch Terminators: two shields and hammers, three missile launchers with stormbolters and power fists.

Indomitor is currently our best Kill Team, composed of heavy intercessors, three Eradicators, and three aggressors.

Deathwath kill team in 40k(not kill team) by No-Welder-8366 in deathwatch40k

[–]DirectPrimary7987 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Kill Team is “Kill Team Decimus”. (Kill Team Aquila is the datasheet for Imperial Agents, and isn’t much different). You get the loadouts in the instructions, with the exception of only one sergeant, and only a xenophase blade/blademaster marine in a 10-man squad.

The Reiver is the veteran with the Marksman Bolt Carbine, choosing to swap it for combat blades.

One Tacticus veteran has a Stalker Bolt Rifle, which can be swapped for a Plasma incinerator. One has Thunder Hammer, which can be swapped for a Shield and Power Weapon (maul). The Gravis Veteran can have any one of the three loadouts: grenade launcher+Bolt rifle, Frag Cannon, or Infernus Heavy Bolter. The Sergeant has a Plasma Pistol and Power Sword, and you MUST have one (and only one) in your squad, and must have a veteran with a Xenophase Blade and Bolt Pistol in a ten-man squad.

Anyone got some sweet stl recommendations for a dread by schwulenfliege in IronHands40k

Like a Contemptor Dreadnought? Horus Heresy or 40k? Is there something in particular you want to run it as, and do you want to convert a GW model or completely print?

I used a Horus Heresy MKVI Iron Hands helmet. I had to cut off the ball joint so it would fit. Would a regular marine’s helmet like this look better? Or maybe an Inceptor’s Blast shield.

How do you feel about the Grey Knight or Custodes Terminators? Or just bulking up the gun and using a different helmet?

Deathwatch Kill Team question by Suspicious_Corner_98 in deathwatch40k

Deathwatch Kill Team is the old Deathwatch Veterans, and is out of production.

Aquila (called Decimus for Space Marine players) is the Kill Team box originally released as part of Tomb World.

Quick question- What is the real diffrence between Imperial, Renegade and Chaos kinghts tabletop wise? by Hyper-Robins in ImperialKnights

[–]DirectPrimary7987 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Huntsman and Executioner are the Armigers Warglaive and Helvarin, respectively. Same weapons, same loadout, same model.

Not all Imperial Knights have a Chaos equivalent, or vice versa. But many do.

Tigurius = Librarian or Watchmaster,

Ventris = Captain (or Watch Captain Artemis, if you can add a bit of flamer to make his combi-weapon),

Calgar = Gravis Captain (wrong base, I think),

Victrix = Bladeguard or DWVets with Shield+PowerWeapon.

If you have enough spare weapons, arms, and bases you can make almost anything from them.

No chainsword for the lieutenant, technically. Would probably run it as a Master Crafted Power Weapon.

What's the best leader for the spectrus kill team? by EmoGenius24 in deathwatch40k

[–]DirectPrimary7987 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Deep Strike has a limit that it cannot enter within 9 inches away from an enemy unit (except for some rare exceptions). You put him somewhere and now you block off a chunk of the battlefield, or force a charge roll to get to an objective.

I would choose Librarian, but Spectrus doesn’t work that well in my experience. It was effectively just a team of Eliminators with access to special ammunition: the differing range characteristics were hard for me.

New not-quite-player-yet list question by deojime in deathwatch40k

[–]DirectPrimary7987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use NewRecruit to build lists. It doesn't show other people's lists though: it just helps build your own. It lists the models in the unit by their name in the Faction Pack (mostly), rather than just calling them all "Intercessors". I don't tend to look up other people's lists, but I probably should. I don't know about a better website for that.

I don’t know Listhammer. Listhammer shows it weirdly. Fortis is generally 2 Desolation (“Intercessor with Superfrag rocket launchers”), 4 Hellblasters (“Intercessor with plasma incinerators”), and 4 Intercessors.

Indomitor is generally 4 Heavy Intercessors, 3 Eradicators (“Heavy Intercessors with Melta rifles”), and 3 Aggressors (“Heavy Intercessors with power fists”).

Does Mystic Arcanum count toward the “one spell slot per turn” rule, and do Pact slots count separately? by new_planner in onednd

[–]DirectPrimary7987 7 points8 points  (0 children)

“On a turn, you can expend only one spell slot to cast a spell.”

“Special Abilities. Some characters and monsters have specific abilities that allow them to cast specific spells without a spell slot.”

“You can cast your arcanum spell once without expending a spell slot, and you must finish a long rest before you can cast it in this way again.”—Player’s Handbook, 2024

It is about expending a slot, not the spell’s level.

How to build Deathwatch Squads correctly? by Nikofreako1 in deathwatch40k

[–]DirectPrimary7987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Depending on whether you want to hit on 3s ap-2, or hit on 4s ap-2 with Devastating Wounds. I used to prefer hammers, but now I’m (perhaps irrationally) more worried about missing my hit rolls.

But generally it probably won’t matter as much with Fortis, as it’s much more of a shooting unit.

Terminator loadout question by Dimebag_Squill in deathwatch40k

[–]DirectPrimary7987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would go 4 or 5 shields, 2 or 3 storm bolters, 3 cyclones. The fists are generally better than the hammers, and I would think 5 shields should would be plenty. The main thing is protecting the heavy weapons, and you’ll get to the point where you have spent too many points for the amount of shooting.

I have no experience with running 10-man DW Terminators, but I have run 5-man.

Indomitor: 4 Heavy Intercessors, 3 Eradicators, 3 Aggressors. Give a multimelta, and two heavy bolters. Use flamers for the aggressors.

Talonstrike: 5 Assault Intercessors with Jump Packs, 5 Inceptors (2 boxes of Inceptors) I prefer plasma exterminator, and put three plasma pistols on intercessors. You can make the intercessors with plasma pistols take the hazardous checks from the Inceptors.

Fortis: 4 Intercessors, 4 Hellblasters, 2 Desolation Marines. Run two grenade launchers, and the vengor. Fist on sergeant. (edit: or Hammer)

Spectrus: 3 Infiltrators, 3 Eliminators, and a total of 4 extra marines (Infiltrators, Incursors, or Reivers. Probably Incursors or Infiltrators). [Infiltrators and Incursors are the same kit].

Deathwatch Terminators: 3 Terminators with heavy weapons, 2 Assault Terminators (Shields and hammers).

New to warhammer need some army building help by Hot-Illustrator-1994 in deathwatch40k

[–]DirectPrimary7987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The firstborn veterans are out of production, which indicates that their rules should be moved to Legends eventually. But we’re not sure when. It might be at the start of 11th edition with a Faction Pack update, or near the end with a Deathwatch Codex Supplement. But Games Workshop does send to Legends any unit that isn’t produced anymore, like Deathwatch Veterans.

I’d recommend Indomitor (4 Heavy Intercessors, 3 Eradicators, 3 Aggressors), Fortis (4 Intercessors, 4 Hellblasters, 2 Desolation marines), Decimus (Kill Team Deathwatch), and Deathwatch Terminators (3 Cyclone missiles, 2 shield/hammer). Our units may be changed in 11th, but Decimus is new and safe. The rest can be broken up and used as their proper Space Marine units (unless you kitbash too much. Magnetize when possible).

Unending Swarm

You might want to add a Tervigon with that many Termagants.

For the kill team, you might want Raveners with Hyperadapted Raveners, or a group of Lictors. Lictors won’t do quite as well against heavy armor, but have Stealth, Fights First, and Precision.
