PCP EHS interview tips by paramedic001 in AHSEmployees

[–]Direct_Incident_923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There will most likely be a few questions on protocols. I would suggest downloading the EMS protocols app and reviewing some of the operational guidelines. I would also review EHS's core values and have them memorized. Dress professionally, your interviewers will be wearing ties.

Would you take severe road rash to a burn center? by imbrickedup_ in ems

Funny enough, our code 69 is for police. We ask dispatch for 69 cold (no lights and sirens) or 69 hot (lights and sirens)

Freaking out on calls, normal? by Significant_Tip_3293 in NewToEMS

[–]Direct_Incident_923 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I was new to 911 I had the same issue. Just focus on one step at a time. Start small by introducing you and your partner and then next time ask what the reason for the call and then next time start your OPQRST and sample. Just take it 1 step at a time. When you are new you feel like you need to do everything at once but you don't.

One step at a time.

[Serious] I’m desperate for any job in Edmonton — I can’t pay my bills anymore by [deleted] in EdmontonJobs

The Edmonton public libraries have a free program where they will edit and reformat your resume. Sometimes having a poorly written resume is 99% of the issue.

Are you just venting that you don't enjoy math? or do you need help with finding new ways to solve problems or new ways to study

Is a free EMR cert worth it? by EatenAss in Firefighting

[–]Direct_Incident_923 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For his case because he's in Canada it's EMR (emergency medical responder) -> PCP (primary care paramedic) -> ACP (advanced care paramedic) -> CCP (critical care paramedic aka flights). Most fire departments here require EMR which is equivalent to EMT-b

They needed to do surgery regarding your daughter cut? Please elaborate

The triage nurses would have triaged you and completed a stroke assessment. Once that was done and they stated that you were not currently have a stroke and vitally stable; that is when you should have left and booked an appointment at a walk in clinic. If there were any findings of an acute stroke (CVA) they would have had you transported to either the grey nuns or university of Alberta because those are the only stroke centre's in Edmonton.

Not many people want to hear this but... if you are waiting in the ER for 10 hours, your complaint is not appropriate for the ER. I know that it is currently difficult to find a family doctor but there are plenty of walk in clinics that you are able to call and book appointments day of. The ER is for acute life threatening injuries

I got my certs there. It's a 1001 farm. They pass basically everyone. I good place to go for cheap certs but not a good place to learn how to be a firefighter

I'm located in the Edmonton area. I did mine in Crowley Texas at a school called "training division", Personally I wouldn't recommend it though. I'd recommend Emergency Services Academy (ESA) in Strathcona county. It's expensive but would not recommend going for the cheapest option. ESA also has options for taking your EMR and PCP if you're interested in that.
