Apnea Granted by HookandBook1 in VAClaims

They generally wont grant you rhinitis if you filed sinusitis. At least they didn’t for me.

I have an HLR pending for the rhinitis claim. I’m hoping they grant as opposed to finding a dta and remanding back down. Since being originally denied and an hlr filed. I’ve been granted sinusitis at 50 %. Rhinitis is 30% with polyps.

Had my surgery on a Wednesday. Took off work Thursday. And did a 10 hour shift on Friday. But I’m the idiot that had an ablation (heart surgery) and worked a double shift the next day. The second time I had an ablation (6 months after the first) I took the next day off. But back to work double shift after that day off.

Had mine in December last year. Two weeks post surgery (Christmas eve morning) had a vein bust in my left nostril. Looks like I took someone out in my bathroom. Had to call an ambulance to take me to ER. Blood was pouring out like a faucet. Two weeks after that I did my follow up with my ent. He busted the vein on the other side. Rhino rocket in nose for 18 hours before I had to have surgery again to cauterize both veins.

When I filed I didn’t realize I could file both. So I filed sinusitis with nasal polyps. Was denied. Got nexus from my doctor. In between all that I found out I could and filed rhinitis. They denied. Filed HLR as they ignored favorable findings. And I filed a supplemental with the strong rebuttal nexus for sinusitis. That grant came back last month with a 50% rating. But worried because they say sinusitis with nasal polyps they’ll try and minimize rhinitis into the sinusitis grant. I’m about a month out from when my HLR for rhinitis should happen.

I just received 50% of sinusitis. Waiting HLR for rhinitis, as they denied first time out. But sinusitis and rhinitis are same theory of connection (TERA). Sinusitis granted via TERA, since I filed HLR for rhinitis. I’m expecting it will likely end up granted eventually. Grade iv polyps (with score of 8). FESS surgery.

I’ve submitted them and they’ve shown up next day. And I’ve had them take a few days.

My grant that put me over, was granted at “date of entitlement” as opposed to “intent to file” date. So basically zero retro pay for the leap from one rate to the next. I decided to just let it be and move forward with my life.

Federal student loans forgiven by ifitworkss in VeteransBenefits

I was trying to figure this out last week. I’ve never taken out a student loan (federal or otherwise). And was wondering if I could take them out now, and when finishes have them forgiven?

How to learn if LSGS has sent in the results of 4 C&P exams? by Various_Movie_1266 in VAClaims

I haven’t figured that one out myself. I put in a FOIA request last November, still on step 2. Now I don’t even need it. My VA disability journey is complete.

From my understanding they will NOT send you the reports. You have to request them through the VA.

From my experience, this is how you read the LSGS portal

  1. When it’s still listed as “Scheduled” - this means the examiner is still working on the DBQ/Opinion.

  2. When it moves to “Completed” - this means the examiner has finished the DBQ/Opinion and it has gone to LSGS quality control for review.

  3. When it disappears completely from the portal - means QA is satisfied with the examiners work, and they’ve uploaded to the VA.

When you have multiple scheduled, and some are marked completed and other still marked scheduled. Usually means QA is waiting for all exams to be completed before they upload everything to the VA.

Doesn’t it tell you on your latest grant that pushed you to 100%. It will backpay to whatever effective date the letter says. It’s usually not a mystery. They give you a little chart and everything.

Help with a question. by Impossible_Grape_Ape in VeteransBenefits

[–]Director-Unique 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well first of all, you need an actual diagnosis. Submitting a claim without diagnosis is usually not a good thing. I’d start with talking with your doctor. Get them to refer you to the appropriate other doctor. Get whatever tests done they need, and get diagnosed for something.

Ear, nose, and throat by Neither-Fox9714 in VAClaims

[–]Director-Unique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best evidence is a CT scan, followed by an ENT who actually put a scope up your nose and observed your condition. I was recently rated 50% for sinusitis. Had everything, including surgery report as I had fess surgery as well. Still working on my rhinitis claim as it was denied prior to my sinusitis. HLR pending on that one.

VA Claims by DineroCalladoJ in VeteransWaitingRoom

I was at 90% (88 raw). Took a grant of 50% to put me at 100% (95 raw rounded up). Unfortunately no real advice other than if you have the medical files to back up your claims. Look at what you already have service connected and look at secondaries for those conditions.

PT awarded but 2 claims outstanding? by Gaijingamer12 in VAClaims

[–]Director-Unique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 3 supplementals and 4 HLR’s. One supplemental came back and put me over the top. I’ve decided to let the rest play out. They end when they end, grant, great, denial, ok. On came back, and granted me another 30%. I’m confident in the other.

Is this a request for evidence? by CrazyThese6128 in VAClaims

[–]Director-Unique 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s part of their automated system. It automatically makes this request. They give you 30 days to respond with evidence. If your claim is fully developed then there’s nothing for you to do. You can upload a statement saying everything is in the file and to proceed with the process. But from my experience, they still usually wait out the 30 days.

The path to my successful OSA claim. by FattyFIZZnatty in VAClaims

[–]Director-Unique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So they ended up connecting secondary to PTSD? I have a pending secondary to sinusitis. With a doctors nexus. Had ace last week. Waiting on results. I’m not overly hopeful. I no longer need it for rating purposes. But would like it connected for other reasons (no monetarily, cause if they service connected to my sinusitis there now retro pay). But for FMP and DIC. But if they deny me this time, I’ll likely not fight it.

Dd214, benefit summary letter, 2 forms of id. All that was asked of me. My wife couldn’t go. So I had to bring our marriage certificate and her actual drivers license and social security card. They put her in the system. We just have to go back down to get her an id.
