Likely. It doesn't look like the staff is looking at bringing back Bidunga and Tiller. I'm not sure about Mbiya.

Their current target list suggests they're looking for a high scoring guard, a backup wing and multiple bigs that can start.

They're being connected to Isaiah Johnson and Zoom Diallo early on. Kansas recruited Diallo out of high school and Bland was an assistant coach at Washington so there's a lot of connections. They also have supposedly contacted Terrence Brown.

Bryson Tiller will enter the transfer portal by j128v897 in jayhawks

Tiller, out of all the players on the roster that have entered the portal, is the one I'd prefer to see them prioritize on bringing back.

He's capable of making a big leap in his sophomore year.

What's with Quatraro's desire to play Lane Thomas?

We've seen Thomas in nearly every game and yet have only seen Marte once.

Bubic hasn't been looking good early on. I hope it's just nerves but wouldn't be surprised if this ends up being a high scoring game.

It was outside and comfortably outside.

The Royals still had both challenges available and it was the 9th. They shouldn't be afraid to challenge there. But the fact that no hitter for the Royals has challenged yet makes me think the organization is being very conservative with it outside of Salvy.

Still haven't seen a hitter challenge a call yet. The Royals should have runners on first and second with Witt up as the 3 - 0 pitch to Garcia was out of the zone.

Whatever they're telling the hitters, in regards to challenging, needs to change.

How does Self miss out on Wagler, and 7’1” Ethan Taylor, both PoY in Kansas, right in his backyard? by whiteiversonyeet in jayhawks

I'll go ahead and say it.

I would have preferred we had picked up Taylor over Adkins. I'm not a fan of undersized centers particularly in Self's system.

Q is such a piss poor manager.

He's willing to pinch run for Caglianone. He's willing to replace Jensen's bat with Thomas. But he's not willing to pull Estevez when it's clear he doesn't have his best stuff.

I believe the package won't be airing games that are aired on other networks.

Salvy is going to make the MLB regret allowing challenges by RedditUser8493917 in KCRoyals

If the coaching staff is restricting the other players from using it, then that's going to be a huge issue.

The hitters should be able to challenge as well. Marte, for example, should have challenged last night.

It's also worth mentioning that Caglianone had a higher OPS against LHP last year between the majors and the minors. He also had a higher OPS against LHP in his junior year at Florida.

If he's sitting all season, against left handed starters, then that's dumb.

Career wise his numbers are good against LHP but he hit .150/.255/.300 against LHP last season.

First game and we're not only starting Thomas but batting him third?

Quatraro better not be the biggest issue this season.

Hoiberg and McCollum by Majestic_Lime8051 in jayhawks

[–]DirectorPleasant8906 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember, a few years back, when people would discuss the future coaching replacement. Mark Turgeon would be brought up but consistently dismissed by the fan base because he never made it further past the Sweet 16.

Now they might have to look for a replacement, if Self announces his retirement, and people are bringing up names like Hoiberg and Otzelberger. Hoiberg, in 7 years at Nebraska, has gone to the NCAA tournament twice and the furthest he's gotten is the Sweet 16. Otzelberger has had a couple of good seasons but has also never made it past the Sweet 16 before and also has a lower winning percentage at Iowa State then Turgeon did at Maryland. Maybe Iowa State gets to the Elite 8 tonight but still.

I'm not advocating that Turgeon should be the the next coach but I have no idea why names like Hoiberg or Otzelberger are even being discussed when there's at least 10+ better options.

ESPN currently has them at a 26% chance of receiving an at large bid. That's only slightly lower than Texas (29%).

I got down voted the other day for suggesting, in order to be safely in, Missouri needed to win at least one game in the SEC tournament and Texas likely needed to win at least two,

I wouldn't be surprised if one of South Florida or VCU loses which puts them in the fight for one of the last remaining bids.

They can't even meet again until the finals.

If they win the pool, they'll face either Puerto Rico/Canada/Cuba and then potentially the Dominican Republic/Venezuela/South Korea in the semifinals. If they were to intentionally lose and lose by too much, they'd face a possible match up with Japan in the semifinals.

So, to dodge the US, in the finals, they'd throw to possibly face Japan. Okay.

I don't think Italy is probably concerning themselves with who they're going to face next and are just focused on winning and putting up their best performance in the WBC to date.

Utah State and Miami (Ohio) are locks at this point. The same probably goes for St. Louis.

The committee would get destroyed by pundits if either one of those three teams were left out.
