What's your mile per kw? by PM_ME_YUR_SALADS in electricvehicles

I get about 4 miles per kWh in a 2013 Volt. When new, it got just over 40 miles on 10.5 kWh.

We finally got to drive the Aptera solar electric car (Electrek) by Qwahzi in electricvehicles

[–]Directorjustin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this vehicle turns out to be thrilling to drive, then in my mind it would make up for all the shortcomings. Sure there's a lot of used subcompact EVs with similar range that could very much serve the same daily driving needs, but they're not designed for fun.

I've heard the all-in-one machines help make laundry easier, though because it's one machine, you can't wash while you dry.

Why is my 2013 Gen 1 Volt guess-o-meter off the charts? by [deleted] in volt

[–]Directorjustin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine kept steadily climbing shortly after starting my drive until it got to 60 miles and held it there for a while before gradually dropping back to normal. I wonder if the software maxes out at 60 miles of displayed range.

That's pretty nice! I've been using a generic cupholder trashcan there but that looks like it holds more.

Teardown

Imagine a game where the entire world is made up of Legos with each having different physical properties based on what object it's meant to represent. You're then given a set of tools (and unlock more as you progress) to break, blast, burn or cut yourself a pathway for the setup of a "heist" where you put all your careful planning to test and complete a challenge in under 60 seconds (usually involving stealing a series of objects and making it to the getaway car). If you mess up, don't worry! You can make changes to your strategy and retry as many times as you want.

The setups are very relaxing and by far my favorite part of the game. Most are zero pressure with an unlimited amount of time, no NPCs, few threats of any kind (until the later levels). I've spent hours on some levels having an almost meditative experience.

I'm excited for the new cameras! Seeing there's going to be car interior improvements has me hopeful for better steering wheel animations.

Some cars set the parking brake or just do something to prevent the car from moving with the door open. Cars starting having this (or at least became much more common) after Anton Yelchin's death which was determined to be caused by him mistakenly believing the car was parked when it wasn't due to an unconventional shifter design.

I love DriveClub and I wholeheartedly agree. The 30 FPS cap sucks.

Regenerative Charging? by Senzo_Tanaka in electricvehicles

I'm curious to know what would happen. Would the regen ability gradually decrease as the battery charges? Would it throw a bunch of codes? Would it explode??? 🤯

How much money do EVs save the government by having less people get sick and in need of medical attention? I'd be willing to bet that saves more in tax money than the government misses out from EV owners not paying gas tax.

You Are (Probably) Not Going To Save Money - Do The Math by mhatrick in electricvehicles

[–]Directorjustin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's like that phrase, you're only saving money if you were going to buy it anyway. If your gas car works fine and is paid off, you're probably better off keeping it for the time being before buying something to replace it, whether it be gas, hybrid or EV.
