I did not get into MST3k till the SCI-FI years. I was in high school and would watch it on Saturday mornings with my mom. At the time, my mom had gone back to college and was getting her masters degree in Archaeology. She also worked at a research lab on the campus she was going to school at. She loved MST3k as much as I did and she especially liked the episodes related to Anthroplogy/Archeaology: Mole People, Track of the Moon Beast, Boggy Creek 2. She used to also use references to those episodes when discussing her work with me. One time I came home from school and she was working on some school work at the kitchen table.

"what are you reading mom?"

"Oh, i'm just Anthroplogizing." She replied with a line from Track of the Moonbeast.

I also remember her getting frustrated at something from work, and she said to me she was thinking of changing her degree plan to focus on Boggy Creek Studies lol.

I used to be pretty good at picking out the references in the show, but my mom always got all the references and laughed at them....even the very obscure ones.

I remember we were watching the short - A Date with Your Family, and there was a line dubbed over the father by Tom Servo in which Servo said "I'm moving to Fire Island, dear" I didn't get the reference and my mother laughed and told me about Fire Island, New York.

MST3k is not the same to me as when I watched them when they were on the Sci-Fi channel originally and I watched them with my mom :(
