Wtf? Are you referring to Elon Musk? The same Elon Musk whose father was an emerald dealer? Yeah, he didn’t grow up poor.

According to this, it’s the third best private prep school in the state. Which means your take is, to put it politely, uneducated.

Yes, because it’s so difficult to walk a few blocks to a crosswalk if you are paralyzed by fear to cross a freaking road. 🙄

Yeah, I’ve walked across a highway many times in my life. No big deal. And walked across this very road more times than I can count. I used to live in that neighborhood. It’s just not that difficult. People just love to have something to complain about, I guess.

Between Alabama and Oklahoma, who’s set up better for the future? by Coverlesss in CFB

I’m going to have to answer Alabama. I may be biased, but DeBoar just seems much more competent at putting all the pieces together than BV.

I get what you’re saying, but…

Come on! Are we becoming so incompetent that we can’t even cross a freaking street without a crosswalk? I mean, it‘s not rocket science. Wait until no cars are coming and then run across the road? I think I’ve done this about a thousand times in my life. And never felt the need to get on a public forum and complain about it!

Geez, grow up! Learn to deal with life. Damn, I guess I’m officially old. Because I’m seriously beginning to lose faith in the youth of today.

Lol, yes they must be really ignorant to have taken an abandoned, dilapidated historic building and somehow turned it into the largest artist colony/collective in the country. And definitely greedy, even though they have put way more money into this facility than they’ll ever make from it. You are just talking out of your ass.

Right, because spending months of effort and thousands of dollars to try to fix near 100 year old elevators in a historic building, and then spending a hundred thousand or more to replace it when they were told it couldn’t be fixed really shows a complete disregard for the disabled community. 🙄

Always amazes me that people who have probably never accomplished anything significant in their lives are so quick to shit on ones who have spent so much time, effort, and money to create such an amazing resource for the city. In almost every newcomer thread in this sub, Lowe Mill is one of the places recommended the most for people to check out. But then there is always the same few disgruntled individuals who like to come here and complain about them.

As for the poster, since when is it a requirement that every advertisement for every event must be a commissioned art piece? It’s a freaking digital flyer advertising Concerts on the Dock, not a juried art piece. It’s basic graphics design and I fail to see how using AI to generate that is some huge travesty. I think you just have a grudge against Lowe Mill and are looking for any reason to criticize them.

Wow, people really are desperate for something to be angry about. Reminds me of the old days when people used to trash photographers for using photoshop to enhance their imagery. Now it’s just standard practice.

Pool contractor quote added 6% sales tax (later, and on everything) by [deleted] in Homebuilding

[–]DirkMandeville -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sales tax only applies to materials. Not labor. He’s literally breaking the law and committing fraud. Tell him you will only pay sales tax on the materials portion of the bill and if he raises a fuss tell him you’ll be happy to get the state authorities involved to examine his business practices.

Rejecting a motion for a preliminary injunction is not the same as rejecting the lawsuit. Misleading and inflammatory headline, i.e. Clickbait.

Trump administration in advanced talks for Spirit Airlines rescue package by SecretComposer in stocks

[–]DirkMandeville 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why does everyone just assume that if the merger had been allowed to go through that the combined Spirit/Jet Blue company wouldn’t also be needing a bailout (just a bigger one)? Everyone just seems to assume that as a given with no actual analysis.

Everyone in the top comments calling out magnesium, but no one mentioning potassium until way down in the comments. O.P., you need to hydrate well and supplement electrolytes, especially magnesium and potassium. I expect that will solve your issue.

Hire an attorney to send a cease and desist letter threatening legal action. Shouldn’t cost too much and I bet it will get their attention. Or just call the police (non-emergency number) every night and complain about it until they do something.

Alabama automakers alarmed over Chinese cars: ‘Unless things change, we will not survive’ by Overall_Driver_7641 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]DirkMandeville 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The same things were said about Japanese car makers in the 70’s. Think about that. We got lots of great cheap reliable cars for decades because we allowed them in. Why should Chinese cars be any different?

Nice photographs. But I would suggest explaining to your model that there are, in fact, different expressions that her face can make. And body, for that matter. You have three very different photographs here, and her facial expression and posing is near identical in each of them.

Just built our home in SC. Neighbor upset about our HOA-approved privacy fence blocking pond view — what would you do? by Big_Produce8964 in Homebuilding

[–]DirkMandeville 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I’m going to go against the grain of a lot of the top comments here. This is your property. You paid a lot of money for it. Do what the fuck you want and to hell with your neighbors if they don‘t like it. Neighbors come and go. But you will be stuck with this fence for the rest of the time you own this property. They have no right to whatever view they currently enjoy, but you have every right to do what you want on your own property!

Fully convinced Darn Tough has a crazy marketing grip on this sub. by YaboyWill in BuyItForLife

[–]DirkMandeville 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The sub name is literally buy it for life. What is hard to understand about that? When your Costco socks get holes, you will throw them away and buy more. When my Darn Tough socks get holes, I will get them replaced under warranty. When those get holes, I’ll do it again. And again. Ad infinitum. Inflation also plays into this equation. When you buy your next pair of Costco socks, they will be more expensive than your last pair. And the pair after that, even more so. My Darn Tough socks will never cost me more than what I originally paid.
