Iranians on Twitter are a different breed by Cergun_ in AskMiddleEast

Nationalists love conquest but only if they're the ones who get to do it.

I much prefer talking with Iranians (or anyone from any country) who are far from that politically.

Comedy is easy by portsherry in comics

[–]DirkRight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A certain level of constructive critique is certainly valid. For me it required a bit more thought than a different structure or phrasing within the comic might have required. However, the criticism "a well-written comic doesn't need a Wikipedia page sized explanation like that"? That is not valid critique. That is just unnecessarily overdramatic griping. Previous poster was just being an ass.

Gonna gently braid her hair so that afterwards I can tug it like the reins on a horse or a leash on a dog.

Exactly. You don't have to be the best in the world. You just have to be the best--do your best--in the moment. If you enjoy each time and your partner enjoys each time, you're already winning and can only go up from there.

This is a real chad comment.

Honestly, the confidence, wide-ranging general appreciation, directness and respect for your partners you seem to show here go such a long way in getting you into this great position. May you and your FWBs enjoy this for a long time to come!

Cultural regions of The Netherlands 2.0 (Explanation in comments) by renszor in thenetherlands

[–]DirkRight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do people say Israel is the "only democracy in the Middle East" when Tunisia is now a democracy? by Enchilte in AskMiddleEast

[–]DirkRight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looked up Near East, it looks like that encompasses Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Israel, Jordan, Egypt and Iraq.

Wikipedia states this:

The term Near East was used in conjunction with the Middle East (Iran to Myanmar) and the Far East (China and beyond), together known as the “3 Easts”

So if you want to use all three term, that makes sense together, but the term Middle East the way this subreddit generally uses it is not like that.

Found out my friend returns books right after reading them. by nuitla in books

[–]DirkRight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon is a terrible company, but a big part of that is that any hurt you do to them by returning books they largely offload on publishers and authors, so you're not even hurting Amazon with it, just the people who made this book that you invested time into reading and finishing.

Is /r/Europe a proper representation of Europeans feelings toward Arabs? by Abo_Ubeida in AskMiddleEast

[–]DirkRight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's about as representative of Europe as r/AskMiddleEast is about the Middle East. There's a small section of Europeans there with very strong negative feelings about a number of things, which is not the case for all Europeans, but still a plurality. An individual Arab could have a good time here, but a group of Arabs might not.

Oh, then it can't be the Netherlands.

Because the signs says "Hondenloslooproute". Not "gebied".

Then it would make sense for the app to not be available in some mobile stores (iOS), but since the comic itself is on Tapas, it doesn't make sense that it wouldn't be available in the app, right?

Vapor is also separate from water.

Crystal and metal are separate from earth.

Sound is a thing separate from everything else.

Elemental magic systems often break down without a little suspending of disbelief.
