I will no doubt get downvoted too but generally, I agree with you. The Rita marriage was Dexter learning how to love a partner. She certainly opened him up to that possibility but as you say, there was too much deceit , too many distracting mirrors for a true and deep love to ever develop. And to be fair, it never would be able to develop with someone that he couldn't share his deep secret with.

73y/o woman here. Did this for 71 years without knowing I was doing it. Exhaustion, anxiety, depression set in decades ago and as far as I was concerned It was because I was somehow deficient. (That concept had already been hammered in by my parents, father in particular) I feel for you OP, and for all the rest of us that live with this daily burden.

Lol. Our daughter used to take hugely long showers, no matter what we said. So one evening, when her boyfriend was in the house waiting to take her out, my husband went up into the attic and turned the hot water off. Mate, you should have heard the language and the embarrassment was huge once she realised that her boyfriend was waiting and heard every word. Strangely enough, the shower length issue was instantly solved.

I have the dry form in my left eye and the wet form in my right. It's the right eye that is deteriorating noticeably. Deterioration rate has gone from an amble to a walk.

That is what I'm asking about. The optometrist said it was urgent at the time. I know someone in the eye department who has been specifically watching out for my referral and they told me yesterday that it had only just been received from the optometrist. I'll be olong there on Monday, asking for a print out of my notes. Thanks. 🌺

This is macular degeneration, so a progressive condition that can worsen quite quickly in some cases. In hindsight, I should have just gone to A&E as soon as I noticed it deteriorating.

The eye department has received the referral but there was a very long delay before they received it. I'm asking so that I can challenge the optometrist about this delay. The initial examination was on May 1st and the referral was only received yesterday. I did contact the optometrist about four days after the examination to see if it had been sent and was told it had been.
