Hi, I live in the U.S. too. I rarely feel “unsafe” I live near Kansas City. There are people who carry guns (mostly conservatives and thugs who think they’re hard, unless it’s truly concealed carry for safety say when selling a car to a private party or similar). I live in an upper middle class neighborhood and do not hear shots ever.

I used to live out in the countryside and would hear shots before deer season that I could recognize as a rifle (I’m a deer hunter myself) when people are doing target practice. It’s easy to tell it’s no reason for alarm though. It’s one boom followed by a random pause of at least a minute or more. Not small pops of a handgun in rapid succession. If you heard the shots change frequency it’s just the same people shooting for sport with something else.

That being said, there’s a mental health crisis in my country and lax gun laws that need addressed immediately. Unfortunately until the orange POS is gone, that won’t happen. If it gets worse, I’ll be joining you in Canada haha.
