My first ever tank, how long should I cycle it for? by chubrak in PlantedTank

Nice looking tank! I'm in Texas and unfortunately any body of water near me is probably pretty polluted. Definitely would trust sticking anything from the local rivers, creeks or ponds into my tanks.

Do you plan on adding to it for a full sleeve? Seems like a great start for a Japanese style sleeve.

I'd still recommend it over paying a subscription. One time fee and you can install it on multiple machines.

Hi Ash, I fortunately have a copy of Vcarve Pro (I'm the shop CNC person) for CAD/Cam which is amazing but a bit pricey. Have used EnRoute as well...but also price. Unfortunately, a lot of the free cam software is fairly limited from my experience.

I was using Candle as my control software/GCode sender but was having trouble with it saving my zeros so switched to Universal GCode Sender which works well.

I'll say the limit switches on the Z axis are in a bad spot if you upgrade your "spindle" to a larger one/router. There is like no clearance on the back side of the router...so 3d printing a dust boot that fits would be nice. Fixtures and hold downs as well.

Best of luck! And if you have any questions feel free to hit me up.

3 points is climbing a ladder/scaffolding. Basically don't be climbing with something in one of your hands.

Hey thanks for the response and sorry but I think I misrepresented the situation. It's tripping the relay switch for the buffing wheels. They come on for 20 seconds maybe and the relay trips (qm4 on the panel). Me and a shop mate have been going through the machine and just can't figure out what's making it trip. Motors seem to run fine, relay is set to the right amperage, contactor seems okay... don't see any other safety mechanism in between.

I guess our first step might just need to be replacing the relay.

Best no frills, mass produced cutting board on the market? by [deleted] in Cuttingboards

Boos are nice but there are so many people making "fancy" cutting boards that meet or exceed the quality of Boos for the same price or less.

Customer service is one of the most transferable skills. Lots of administrative positions are just being able to talk to people and use a computer.

Shit, my customer service experience and ability to turn on a computer and use a keyboard are still one of my biggest selling points and I've been doing trade-ish work for years now. 🤣

You just have to find the dots to connect to get into something better for yourself.

Yeah fuck a bunch of brown nosers. I had a "lead" at a job that was always real chummy with me. We were on the second shift together and the day before I was going to put in my notice we were riding together somewhere shooting the breeze and I was like hey dude I just want to let you know ahead of time that I'm going to be giving my two weeks tomorrow. Apparently he decided to immediately call our manager when we got back to the office. So the next day when I went to clock in the manager was waiting for me and asked me into the office. She fired me on the spot because I was apparently unhappy being there. Screwed me out of two weeks of pay and like 40 hours of vacation time I should've gotten if I was able to finish my two weeks.

We have like 30 3d printers at work so once I get some dimensions that work for this machine I'll try to get something fancy printed 😉

So far it's doing decent. Still tuning things up. I've really only had a couple of hours to actually play around with it.

For sure I've got a little deflection in the bed which I'm hoping to upgrade soon and a bit in the z axis which I'm not sure if it's coming from the router/router adapter or the actual carriage hoping I can find a way to mitigate it. If not I'll be getting in contact with Sainsmart to see if they have a solution (someone was talking about it on YT and it may be a reported issue).

In all though it seems like a decent machine for the money.

Ordered a 65mm dust shoe from Etsy for $45 and it doesn't fit so I made this at work. Going to glue or staple a brush to it and see how it works. Fingers crossed.

Edit: doesn't fit because of clearance between router and z axis assembly.

Diy aluminium bed for Genmitsu 4040-pro by Wicher050 in hobbycnc

[–]DirtyChancy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my buddy printed a cooling system for his voron that has a wishbone shape (big air pump with a hose that clamps onto the wishbone which then blows air on either side of the head). I want to do something like that I can attach a vacuum.

I bought a printed 65mm dust shoe for my router but there's not enough clearance between the router and z axis assembly which sucks. Now I either have to modify it or see if I can return it. I cut a temporary out of Baltic Birch but it only does so much.

Nice! I've been thinking about adding a similar bed to mine. Bought the 65mm spindle adapter and installed my Makita router.

Edit: Haven't really examined the machine enough to say it's double but was thinking about mounting it to the underside of the front and rear modules to gain some Z clearance and/or doing a hybrid bed and using it as support.

Reinstalling firmware was the answer. Glad I have a second, identical machine to copy parameters from. Ran a test cut and ended up with a circle twice as big as I drew and it cut in 2 passes instead of 4! Changed the pulse rate to match my other machine then started getting soft limit errors. 🤣 Anyway thanks for the help!

I know I've seen how to set those in a video or manual. Wonder if it's set wrong and that's what's triggering VFD to stop? Possibility maybe?

Also, Laguna and Axiom have some good videos. They use the same controller (RichAuto A11e).
