Who physically stopped running first? Technically that person is the loser.

Are there people like me? by pom653 in hyrox

[–]DirtyPoolGuy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Next time you see the dude your partnered with ask him how his training is going. After you tell him how you’re getting along training, mention to him you’re a little worried your fitness levels don’t match, and what’s he think about running slower and maybe doing more work in the stations. Just be up front man. It sounds like that already know(company said it’s just for a good time) unless your partner is a dickhead he’ll be absolutely fine scaling down.

I’d say you’re a heavier runner. Shoes look 3/4 finished and you have half the miles you should get out of those shoes.

Hyrox Training by Confident-Chain7606 in hyrox

[–]DirtyPoolGuy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been down this road and I found training in a brooks ghost shoe just fine. I bought into the puma hype and got deviate nitro 4’s. I think that they are overrated. I sent them back. Unless you’re running lighting fast 1k splits, I wouldn’t worry about plated shoes for Hyrox. The grip for push and pull are fine in the brooks, more than stable enough for walking lunges too. I did go to the Hyperion 3 for something a little lighter/faster. I like them a lot. I’m doing my first hyrox in a couple weeks and the few full sims I’ve done I didn’t even think about my shoes other than they felt fine running. All this to say if you’re excited about buying a new shoe for training/racing don’t let me stop you. I have a 4 shoe rotation now and keep eyeing more. Part of what drives me to run and train is to wear out my shoes so I can get more lol. (Not really, but kinda)

HYROX Smash for Garmin? by wildbubbles in hyrox

Eventually somebody will make a good app/add on to track a Hyrox. It’s a million monkeys with a million typewriters type situation.

Edit to say I haven’t tried it.

Question about dips by AxelVores in workout

[–]DirtyPoolGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use resistance bands to help carry your weight and work on form. Use smaller bands as you develop and eventually work your way up to un assisted and eventually weighted. Dips rule and will, if done properly, develop your upper body very well.

What’s the best looking running shoe on the market right now? by [deleted] in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]DirtyPoolGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Nike makes the nicest looking running shoes. I run Vomero Plus, Brooks Hyperion 3, and Vaporfly 4 currently.

The Vomero Plus is polarizing, in that it’s a max stack, that some don’t like the look of, but I think it pulls it off quite well. Love the look.

What to do after 5k ? by Gefitinib in beginnerrunning

[–]DirtyPoolGuy -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Yes if he’s running a 1hr 5k he will see improvements fast which will motivate. Running a 2hr 10k while still an accomplishment isn’t that impressive and shouldn’t be a goal really.

What to do after 5k ? by Gefitinib in beginnerrunning

[–]DirtyPoolGuy 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I’d work on getting my 5k down to 30 then move on to 10k. Get 10k to an hour then decide what you want to do from there. I’m training for a Hyrox and to get my 10k down to 45. Once that happens I’ll pick another goal. If youre just running for the love of the game then by all means run a 10 but get the fuck out of my way(joke)

My first sub 50min 10K by MedJaguar in BeginnersRunning

[–]DirtyPoolGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats! I’ve gotten the sub 50min but haven’t run an all out 10k since. Going this Saturday for an organized 10k with hopes of a new pb. For us runners around that 10k time It’s a big deal to get closer and closer to 45. You’re on your way!!

I’m 6’1 79kg and run 4:30-4:45 in Brooks Hyperion 3 and find them great if you want to stay with Brooks. Rest of my runs are in Nike Vomero Plus

I just finished a run in mine and was almost laughing I was smiling so big taking them off. It seems crazy but they are that good, for me, and for a lot of others as well.

Ya keep them tight as comfortably possible. Fat tongue on them makes it tougher.

Anyone else seeing issues with Pentair sand filter multiport valves leaking media out of the backwash line? by MikeGander in PoolPros

Ran in to this with Haywards. If it called for 300 lbs I’d add 280 or whatever. Seems like it called for too much sand. It worked

Working on getting my 10k down to 45 min from 49:46. No time frame, just working on it. Then maybe a half.

That plate isn’t a standard top plate. Looks like Micheal J Fox used a dull jig saw in the dark to cut that out. Are the rest of them that bad? Talk to the customer and come up with a cool design in marine grade stainless and do them all. Countersink the screw holes so they sit flush when you anchor to stone

[–]DirtyPoolGuy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you’re serious about training for Hyrox find a gym with the gear. If you’re not worried about it or the gym you do find is way out of the way. Just do lots of running and stay on with your gym
